We Can't Get to Basdacu Beach so We Meet an Old Friend Instead
After having Breakfast at Moalboal specifically at Achille Restobar, I suggested that we go to Basdacu Beach. My husband and I together with some friends back in 2011 had been to this white sand beach and so it would be a great idea to at least see how's the beach now.
It's been more than a decade so I believe that there are so many things that had changed. It would surely be a good idea too to let Matti enjoy the white sand. My memory tried to recall the scene at this beach.
Back then, I remember many tents pitched at the seashore. Moalboal is sought after by local tourists and oftentimes, they'd spend an overnight just at the shoreline, with just their tents pitched, and would enjoy sunset view here. We reached the part of the road where we are about to enter this section of the barangay where the beach is part of. Then someone stopped us and asked for a ticket. I have no idea about it and so as my husband but we told the staff that we will just check the beach, we won't even be swimming, still, they won't allow us without that ticket. I asked if we could pay for it here as it was just Php 25 per person but they can't do that, they want us to go to their tourism office which was 20 minutes away from here and pay there or we can hire a habal-habal driver to pay for it and we can go in but it would cost us Php 200.
I got disappointed. For a tourist destination like this, they should have placed someone in that area to receive the payments. I was not feeling entitled though, I just thought the process was unbelievable! It might be that we didn't notice the postings on the road when we came into the town yesterday but they should not make it hard for visitors.
Then somehow, the heavens had its way of saying to us, don't go to the beach anymore as it rained like it was pouring so hard. So we decided to decline and just went back to our rented room. It's a pity! I was really hoping we could see the white sand beach but anyway, we have to accept the fact that it's not the right timing.
Upon reaching Beyond Island, we contacted a friend so we can meet up. We decided to meet at noontime and have lunch together. Darwin is an ex-colleague who's very close to me, we have not seen each other since 2012. So, it's already a decade! A lot of things had changed such as that he is already engaged and is getting married by May.
We decided to have lunch at this food park in Moalboal. According to Darwin, this was once a thrift shop but the owner converted it to a food park making more income than the previous business.
There were so many options here. There's even a pizza parlor, milk tea, and milkshake stand, some of which sell siomai and other dim sum goods, we ended up getting chicken because I was thinking of Matti but Matti was sleeping the entire time!
Darwin bought us some mango shakes too! It was hot like literally, we were sweating here. The electric fan was not enough but thankfully, the mango shake helped a bit. I was really wondering how Matti was able to sleep through the entire time.
We took a selfie together before eating. We talked a lot too, we need a lot of time to catch up but we have limited time since Darwin still has a class. He is working as a teacher at Cebu Technological University.
But he asked us to attend his wedding which will happen on the 21st of May. That's just less than a month from now and we immediately confirmed our presence on that day.
Coincidentally, that's the same date for my husband's company summer outing.
Since it's a day event, we decided that we will rent a room somewhere in Mandaue just near to the wedding reception. Going from Mandaue to Lapu-Lapu at JPark is better than traveling all the way from Tisa but then since the CCLEX is already inaugurated, I believe it is better to travel from there towards Lapu-Lapu City.
Anyway, everything is still tentative but I already bought a formal jumpsuit for his wedding after he sent me the motif. I am just excited that this friend is getting married soon.
After we sent Darwin back to the university, we headed towards the south, we are going for another road trip towards Oslob.
I'm going to share with you the things that we found interesting as this was our very first time taking this route. I have never been to this area of the province so it was a good thing to stay up and be alert to the things around us while driving.
