Overlooking Guindulman at Cabantian Hills
Enjoying nature doesn't have to be expensive. I'd like to share with you a trip we did back in 2021 just around our town and we spent nothing, perhaps we spent gas but this was just a ten-minute drive from our house to the exact location. What's the most important thing here was that we were able to experience nature and appreciate the beauty of our very own town.
That photo above was the view that welcomed us when we reached the top of one of Cabantian Hills. Our town is a coastal one but it also is rich in landscapes and hills.
What's so nice with being close to nature is that we could contemplate, and seeing the vast and wide area of nature humbles us, it is a truth that we are just specks in this world. Look at the sea, the skies, the hills, they could actually eat us. The world is not all about us.
Back at that time when we were with nature, we forgot we had brought our cellular phones, the kids stopped watching the screen and just played with what we could see on the ground - stones, pebbles, grasses, and sticks!
With our mats, we sat on the ground, Matti was still less than a year old here, he was also enjoying nature! And we got the entire family with us here. We spent around three hours here, just running around the slopes, jumping on the huge boulders of rocks nearby. We even played our childhood games like patintero, bahay lupa, etc. It was so much fun!
And of course, taking photos will never be absent in this situation. My parents were there too and as seniors, this simple trip was a breather from just staying at home.
Matti and my husband also had their own moments at Cabantian Hills. I truly treasure these photos because I won't be able to go back to this time but with the use of images, I could freeze the moment. One of the reasons why I would put the effort into taking photos intentionally is so that I can go back in time. We all know how time flashes by fast and if I am not intentional in keeping memories in photos, these times will just be forgotten.
Just look at the two of them, Matti still had his chubby cheeks and legs!
And of course, some mandatory family portraits too although we were not very ready with this, I was just wearing simple shorts and a t-shirt and Matti was just on his cute underwear, teehee.
We actually witnessed the sunset too! It was beautiful witnessing as the sun settled down behind the hills. The husband flew the drone too to check the view from above. It was amazing to see the aerial view. We are only limited to what we see from where we were sitting so having a drone was helpful so we were able to witness the beauty of the entire area.
Here's our group photo at this huge rock on top of the hill. This was already sundown. It was a simple trip yet fulfilling. It was what we needed to relax and unwind. We never thought that our town have such amazing views!
Also, I'd like to share that this is not really the viewpoint for Cabantian Hills, when we went there, it was still under construction so we decided to just take advantage of this hill which is easy to access from the road. We just walk a few minutes and reached the top.
I have never been to the actual viewpoint so maybe in the future, we can go back there.
