Day One of Five in Singapore!

While my planned itinerary states we must be out of the hotel on our first day in Singapore at eight in the morning, everything changed because my little one woke up at nine in the morning. It was understandable as we reached the hotel at past ten in the evening and got settled in bed at past midnight.

So, by nine in the morning, we were still at the Ginette restaurant having breakfast. I so appreciate that our hotel accommodation included a complimentary buffet breakfast! I read some reviews online where they were given only a specific option of the meal but for us, we had a buffet instead which made me happy, at least we can start our day with our tummies full and energized!

But then, we have to take things slow because of the baby. Our first itinerary was to check our Merlion.

We went out of the hotel past ten in the morning, we took a bus, I like taking the bus rather than the MRT though as I can see the things outside the bus. But before we took the bus, we had to get our cards topped with 30 SGD.

It was not a long ride though, but having a toddler, we have a lot of things with us. My husband's camera bag, my own bag with the camera, and some baby stuff like diapers, an extra t-shirt, shorts, hand towels, and other things, we also have a stroller which we have to fold and unfold whenever we are in a full bus.

We stopped by Marina Bay, we were all glad to see the Merlion from far away, we took photos while on the way to the statue. Merlion is a half lion and half fish statue which represents this fishing city and lion because when Sang Nila Utama arrived on the island, he saw a lion thus calling it Singapura which means Singa as lion and pura as a city.

There were so many people around, different tourists flock near the statue, and there was water coming out of the statue, this is an iconic symbol of the city so people around us were trying their best to take the best photo of themselves with the lion. I got already disappointed not being able to take photos of Matti as he was not even listening to me when I say stand up. I had no choice but to carry him so no good photo near the Merlion plus the number of photobombers, it was not a good idea to get near the statue. I guess it's better to go farther at the Esplanade drive that connects the Merlion platform towards the Esplanade Concert Hall.

That's what we did instead and took photos of ourselves but then we forgot to take a group photo with the Merlion as we were amazed at the Marina Bay Sands right in front of us.

After that, we walked towards the entrance of the Helix bridge, this was within walking distance but there were certain parts of the Float that were closed so we had to turn to the highway. It was scorching hot at that time, it was almost lunch!

From Raffles Avenue, we reached the Youth Olympic Park and found a really nice spot to take a panoramic shot of the view. In that corner, we can see the Marina Bay Sands, Helix Bridge, the Art and Science museum, and the skyscrapers of Singapore!

From there, we went to the Marina Gardens by the Bay for the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. It was tiring walking all the way with a stroller in the middle of the day but we were not alone, there were a lot of other people too. To get to the observatories, we took the Marina Bay Overpass which has a viewing point of the Singapore Flyer and the hotel itself, we could also see the Supertrees from there. We went down using the elevator and then walked past the Dragonfly bridge.

Seeing the supertrees amazed us but we have to head to get lunch and then check out the observatories. So we decided to go back here in the afternoon after the observatories.

We had lunch at Shake Shack, we had burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets. The chicken was good! I'll post about the observatories in the next article instead. Most of the photos here were taken using my phone as I have not edited all of our photos.
