Scientists' Plea: Let the Earth Breathe
Date: April 15, 2022 (Friday)
It was all over the news and even in social media yesterday that there were scientists who have been arrested after speaking up in Chase Bank about Fossil Fuels and demanding climate action. The said event happened last April 6, 2022 at Chase Bank, Los Angeles. One of the scientists who voiced out his plea is Peter Kalmus, a NASA climate scientist. They started the movement to let the people know that there is a demand for climate revolution as our eath is greatly affected with a lot of environmental problems.
The scientists have chained themselves in Chase Bank , since the bank is one of the huge sponsors of the fossil fuel projects. They wanted to cease Chase Bank in funding the fossil fuel projects to help the Earth breathe and save the earth.
What are fossil fuels and what are their link to climate change?
Fossil Fuels are formed from the decomposition of buried organisms that died hundreds and even millions of years ago that are carbon-based. They are non-renewable. They create carbon-rich deposits that are burned and extracted for energy. Gas, Oil, and Coal are three types of fossil fuels.
When these fossil fuels are burned, they produce large amounts of carbon dioxide in the air. Not to mention, Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that if traps in our Earth's atmosphere, it could harm our Earth in so much ways. It traps heat in the atmosphere that will then cause for global warming. With that, global warming could affect every aspects of theEarth. It could affect our environment, the living species in it including us, humans.
The Scientists' Concern
The scientists have done everything but it seems like the government from all over the country are not cooperating with their plea, and with that they have made their move towards saving the environment, their chance to tell the public about the problem even if there are risks of being arrested from it. Not only the scientists from Los Angeles have made a move to heal the Earth, but a thousand of scientists from different countries as well.
Just so you know, last April 6, 2022, over 1000 scientists from 26 countries have made made a mark in expressing to the public about their concern that the we only have few years to live in this world; three to five years only if these fossil fuels activity will not be ceased. They are asking the banks who are supporting the fossil fuel projects to stop financing these projects. They also warned the public that if these banks will continue to finance these projects, a big catastrophe will be embarked by the human beings in no time.
These scientists are not only looking after themselves, but to all of the human beings in this world. They care for the children and for the future generation to come. If the climate change will continue to pile into a bigger problem, humans may not be able to live a wonderful environment anymore. Humans will be able to live a polluted earth that would be harmful for the human to live. The scientists care for all the human beings, they want to save the earth in someway so that it wouldn't be hard for each one to live their everyday life. If only the people would listen.
The Aftermath
After the scientists initiated the move and after that news of them being arrested for speaking up about the environment have been spread, it becomes trending worldwide. A lot of people have made their move as well in saving the environment. They shared information about the problem of our environment these days and the move that humans have to make to save it. The people are also concern about the info that human beings will be put to dot in 3 to 5 years. Other people have also shared suggestions to help the environement such as deleting unwanted e-mails, using EcoAsia, stop littering, plant trees and so much more.
Closing Thoughts
What the scientists did may be risky in their part, but it's worth all the risks as the public have heard their plea. Let's just be hopeful that the government from all over the world will do their part in saving the environment.
Let's all remember as well that not only one or two people can benefit from this kind of move, but it can save the whole humanity. May we all do our part. Little steps in helping the environment could do so much; let the earth breathe.
