Howdy folks π€ happy Sunday to you all, how was your day? Did you go to church today? I know I said yesterday that I won't be going to church today because I needed to do laundry in the morning but I ended up going due to a critical reason π€
I ended up doing laundry at about 12pm because I had to prepare breakfast after returning from church, but I thank God I was finally able to do the stressful laundry π© Sunday is almost over and very soon, Monday and all its problems will arrive.
Now to the topic for today; how many of you have used something you didn't actually like but it's just the only thing available at that point? I am guessing everyone is guilty of this, and it's perfectly normal. Sometimes what we desire won't be available, then what's available will become desirable.
Take for instance, you're very hungry and craving noodles but on getting home, you discovered there's only rice in the kitchen and there are no noodles, the rice becomes desirable at that point (unless you really hate rice π). The rice isn't your first choice at that point but since it's the only thing available and your body needs food, you just have to find it desirable.
I remember several years back when I was about to buy a phone, I got to the phone store and the phone I really wanted wasn't available. I checked out another store which was a bit far from the first one and I was told that the phone I was looking for is no longer in the market.
I got introduced to a new phone that was recently launched and after checking out the features, I instantly fell in love with it. I didn't plan on buying that phone but it was what was available at that point, seeing as the one I desired can't be gotten.
All these are also similar to an economic term known as complementary goods. They are goods that can be used in place of each other, an example is meat and fish. If you don't have money to use meat in your food, then you can opt-in for fish. In this case, you desire meat but since there's no money for it, the next available thing becomes desirable.
What if there's no money for fish? Then you will probably have to go with eggs, they are all protein π. What these all mean is that money is one of the factors when it comes to economic goods and satisfying your desires. If you have the money to get what you want, then go for it but if not, then pick something easily affordable, which in any case isn't what you desire.
This phrase can also be seen in relationships. I am going to be talking now about what I have personally seen happening around me. They are actually people that can't handle long-distance relationships and they always tend to cling to the next available person.
They will have a partner who they spend time with every day but when that partner isn't around, they get close to someone else. They aren't exactly cheating but some of them just can't help getting close to anybody available at that moment. And yes, a lot of them do end up cheating but would I blame them? Probably not.
But in any case, it's never a good feeling when you find out that a person is picking you simply because you're what is available at that point. They are only seeing you as an option and the worst mistake you can make is taking them as your priority. You're not what their heart desires, you're just available. Know the difference π

This is true, it applies to so many things and situations. You may really want something but when it's not available, you take what is actually available
