Going out of your comfort zone.

The average human attention span is reducing daily and these days, people find it hard to focus on most things for a certain amount of time without getting bored. That's the reason why a lot of songs that are produced these days are very short, some of them aren't even up to 2 minutes long!

I am also guilty of this and I always try to justify it by saying I don't have the time even when I know it's a lie. I came across a video on YouTube a few days ago titled "This simple trick will make you motivated every day" and I clicked on it to see if I can learn something new but the person started telling a story.

I was bored after a few minutes and I got a strong urge to remove the video and go watch something fun but I persisted and kept watching. I was glad I watched it till the end because the story was very inspirational and I learned a couple of things from it.

On that note, let's see if y'all can pass the attention span test; try to watch the video until the end. It's 13 minutes long and it shouldn't be too hard, right?

The video is actually the inspiration behind this article, the bottomline of the story is about a person going out of their comfort zone, and breaking past their limits. The truth is that humans bring out their best and try to survive when they have been thrown into deep water; you either swim or sink.

Do you ever wonder why a lot of the successful people we have today all had a very difficult past but were still able to come out successful? That's because they know they have no other option but to keep struggling to survive, it's either that or death and they chose to be alive which means they have to put their all into making sure they stay afloat.

Let's look at a very common scenario; Two young men; Peter and John are living in the comfort of their parent's house and they both have a job where they are earning some money. But one day, Peter decides to move out of his parent's house and depend solely on himself for survival. He put a lot of effort into his work coz he knows that if he doesn't earn a lot of money, he won't be able to feed himself and handle the bills.

John on the other hand always gets monthly allowances from his rich parents and he only goes to work every day because his mom forces him to do so. He wastes all his money on luxuries and he doesn't have to worry about things like rent, food, bills, etc because his parents take care of all of that, and his life is very comfortable.

Peter keeps searching for new opportunities to earn more money and he eventually starts a new business after some years with the money he has saved from his job. He grew this business consistently and by the time he got to the age of 45, it has grown into an empire. John on the other hand is 45 years old and he is now the manager of one of his father's companies.

He is just a figurehead, he basically does nothing except go to meetings and smile for the camera, his assistant does all the work while he takes all the credit. As long as the money keeps coming, he doesn't have much to worry about. Between John and Peter, who has grown into a responsible adult? If they suddenly lost everything, who will be able to come back stronger?

Source

I am guessing your answer is Peter. John basically still depends on his parents, he doesn't see the need to try out new things or to even bother to be independent because all he needs is provided by his parents. Peter, on the other hand, has burned the bridge between him and his parents, there's no going back for him and he just has to survive no matter what.

Even if something were to happen and they both lost everything, Peter still has the knowledge and experiences he gathered over the years and can still use that to rise again. But as for John, he doesn't have much knowledge or experience to stand on his own, his rise will have to depend on his parents, just like everything in his life.

Peter is the one who decided to be independent and move out of his parent's house but a lot of people like Dave in the video I posted had that decision taken for them by life; they suddenly lost their parents and they find themselves in a situation where they have to survive or they end up dead.

These sort of things happens every day and I have come across a lot of real-life stories of people who suddenly find themselves in a very uncomfortable situation, something they are not used to but they still managed to come out of it successfully. Life gave them a very difficult choice: survive or perish.

Source

Some of them chose to survive but they do it illegally; they end up doing all sorts of crimes just so they could survive while a few of them choose the legal route and try to build themselves up. Even though it takes them a lot of time, they never give up and they keep trying new things until they eventually find something that will completely change their lives for the better.

Going out of your comfort zone doesn't just mean moving out of your parent's house; you can still be living under your parents and trying out a new business or idea that can help shape your future, just don't be like John that got too comfortable living under his parents and never bothered to carve out his own path.

Going out of your comfort zone means different things in different situations; it can mean trying out new things in your career or talking to new people in your field and making connections or quitting your job so you can fully focus on your passion. It's basically thinking outside the box and looking for new things that can help you on your journey to success.

But you should also remember that going out of your comfort zone doesn't always end well. It's a 50-50 scenario and you can either fly or crash. Not everyone that moves out of their parent's house become very successful later on, it isn't a guaranteed road to success and there are a lot of other factors you will still need to consider.

This story is exactly like dangote's story... He grew up in the house of his maternal uncle dantata who is the richest man in kano here. He knew that he would still live a very comfortable life helping his nephews manage thier inherited business. But he wanted to make his own name despite all the preveileges he enjoyed living with his uncle. So asked his Uncle for a loan.... The rest they say is history

Omo, I didn't even know Dangote's story, I always thought he was orphaned at an early age and grew up in the streets πŸ˜†, that's really a perfect example of going out of comfort zone. Many people these days would just relax and keep enjoying themselves if they were in Dangote's shoes

True kushyzee we must get out our comfort zone and try to learn and explore the other things with our own feet. We shouldn't be dependent for the whole time because nothing will happen.

We just have to learn how to be independent and face life on our own, that will make us stronger and more responsible 😊

Going out is just the first step. Wandering around the bee hive will test how far you can travel.

I've seen a lot of people who became successful even though their situation looked like they won't be successful and they didn't involve themselves in fraud

Tough situation creates tough people. Those persons who have been through the worst and survived can handle anything life throws at them without taking part in any crime
