Hey everyone and welcome to the month of September. Most people did their new month article earlier today but I'm doing mine at night because I have been very busy since morning.
August has been one of the best months for me this year, why? That was the month I got introduced to read.cash!
My experience with this great platform has been awesome, and the past few days have been a great learning experience for me.
An awesome first week
My first week on read.cash was memorable, seeing as rusty blessed my very first article. Up till now it still remains my highest earned article, and that motivated me to do even more.
To be honest, I joined read.cash with the mindset of just dropping articles every day and getting lots of tips. That was exactly what I did for the first two weeks but I learned my lesson just last week.
The articles I wrote last week seem not to be getting the attention of rusty but I still pressed on. At one point, I figured something is wrong somewhere, so I carefully observed the articles of some of the persons here.
The first person's article I checked out was @Princessbusayo. I have been one of her silent subscribers from the very first week I have been here and I usually read her articles from time to time, but I never interacted.
I read some of her articles and even went down to her first few articles and saw that she started just like me (or similar) but somewhere down the line, everything changed.
But what changed?
I read some of her recent posts and I noticed something, a lot of users interacted with her in all her articles and they all looked like one big happy family. That was what I have been missing.
After reading princessbusayo's articles, I also checked out happyboy's articles. He is also someone I admired and respected. I also went down to his earliest articles and noticed the same thing; he started small just like me.
I learned quite a lot from happyboy's articles because he wrote about his experiences and mistakes he made while still a newbie. His articles were now like a user manual to me and I got good advice from them.
It was through one of his articles (https://read.cash/@HappyBoy/they-all-quit-after-the-3rd-article-3f89f733) that I discovered I have to interact with people and build a connection with everyone here. I figured I should do more than just come in every day, write an article, submit and wait for rusty to come knocking. So I started commenting on other person's articles.
I found a new addiction
For the past few days, I have been focused on commenting on any interesting article I come across, and the funny thing is I even find that interesting than writing my very own articles!
I found out I enjoy reading other people's articles and learning about their everyday lives. The articles by princessbusayo, happyboy and @Kristofferquincy where they talk about their experiences as a student is a very fun and interesting read.
Right now I spend most of my time online on read.cash and I'm always checking to see if there's anything interesting to read. I remember reading @FarmGirl article today (right here) in school and one of my friends noticed and said "see how Kushy is seriously looking at his phone like his life depends on it" (hey, maybe it does π).
August ended with a bang
Yesterday I told some of my friends about this platform and after some hours of detailed explanation, some of them signed up.
Just about 2 of them have written their first article, sort of a way to test the waters. I'm still encouraging others to do their best and be patient enough to grow with this community.
I'm sort of coaching them right now, pointing out their mistakes and giving them tips to prevent stepping on the toes of rusty π. Some of them are getting the hang of it and slowly adjusting to this environment.
Ma'am Jane's article today about her achievements in August (check it out) helped to win some of my friends over. More people joined after seeing what Jane got in just last month.
I also showed them princessbusayo earnings for last month, just in case they think a Nigerian can't earn much from here (feel free to read her article here). I let them know that with hard work, patience, consistency, and dedication, they can also get to that level.
Moving forward
I have decided to stick with this platform through thick and thin, I seriously love it here. I am also on hive and I have published a couple of articles over there, but I don't get the same vibes I'm getting here in hive.
I'm gonna keep dishing out articles and constantly read other people's articles and learn about their experiences, I mean I do the same thing on nairaland and I don't even earn from there or anything.
Big thanks to happyboy and princessbusayo, your articles helped to guide me to the right path. Special shout-out to farmgirl and Jane, they don't know me but I still get positive replies and words of encouragement whenever I comment on their articles.
The replies might look like nothing to them, but it's everything to me because it shows they actually read and acknowledged my comment, it makes me feel welcomed and always inspires me to keep going forward. Huge thanks to you both.
Moving forward, I'm gonna keep learning from everyone and build myself up to be worthy of being a part of this family, no matter what it takes. I know it ain't gonna be easy, but I'm prepared to face any challenges.
Thanks for taking the time to read my article. A happy new month to everyone.
Welcome my dear friend, I'm Welcome here at read.cash and just enjoyed the opportunity
