10 Comic Book characters who cannot die
27th of January 2022
10. Ra's al Ghul
Having not one but a few portable Lazarus pits have kept Ra’s alive for centuries and will possibly continue to do so for eternity. Since making his appearance 45 years ago in Batman 232, the character has been significantly enhanced making him a big-time dastardly villain and someone worthy of headline in a Batman movie.
Apart from leading the League of Assassins, he is also the Dark Knight's father-in-law. Being the grandfather to Damian wane grants him the exclusive rights to Bruce Wayne’s and the Dark Knight's affairs.
9. The Hulk
When the Hulk is at his maddest, he is at his strongest, so strong in fact that he can best almost anyone even his alter-ego Bruce Banner. In the epic 2002 Hulk: The end one-shot, Hulk and Banner were the only survivors of a nuclear holocaust that has ravaged earth. With no one except cockroaches left to battle or banter with. They’re left to share the ravaged planet in one body. The result is both devastating and touching, and the Hulk does prove that he's the strongest of them all by literally out living everyone.
8. Immortal
His name says it all, the character who made his first appearance in Issue-7 of Robert Kirkman's image superior titled Invincible has been around since the days of King Arthur as he was one of his knights and was instrumental on a few other historical milestones including wars and even becoming the US president under the alias of Abraham Lincoln.
7. Wolverine
Forget about the recent death of Wolverine, as there's no way Marvel will let their eternal “cash cow” be permanently dead. As his comics mythos goes, every time Wolverine dies, he ends up in a hellish setting where he must battle a demon samurai to return to life. Expect more of the scenario in future comics and movies!
6. Vandal Savage
One of DC Comics most persistent and hard to kill villains- Vandal Savage has been a savage vandal of history since prehistoric times. He started out as a caveman in 50,000 BC and gained his immortality and great intellect after being bathed by the radiation from a mysterious meteorite. Since then, he has been an advisor to some of the most influential people in history including Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler and was even rumoured to be Jack the Ripper himself.
5. Painkiller Jane
Jane Vasco heals from the most horrendous injuries in a matter of minutes, but these pain hurts like hell. To cope with the pain, she must pop painkillers hence the nickname. Despite a few notable crossovers with The Punisher, Hellboy, and then to television stints, the underutilized creation is still underdeveloped and needs time to gather more depth and develop her character / origin. Painkiller Jane
4. Lobo
The bloodthirsty villain can be resurrected from just a drop of his blood just like how Groot is regrown from a single tree branch. Surprisingly, that doesn't help him resurrect his flagging popularity.
Most recently he's been given a new persona, but Lobo is still not that remembered by many people. I guess he needs to step up his comic book exploits to increase his popularity. Fortunately for him, being immortal grants him all the time to achieve this but I doubt it will be during my lifetime. ha-ha
3. Death
When you are death itself or herself it stands to reason that you probably can't die. Both DC and Marvel comic both have their own versions of death. The former's most famous death is Death of the endless in the Sandman comics, while the Marvel version is also female but as a more conventional skeleton in a ominous hood kind of character called Mistress Death. Her name and physical appearance still doesn't stop a certain super villain from falling in love with her (Thanos).
2. Thanos
Ironically Thanos’s immortality stems from his love for and devotion to death who has shunned him for her real so. Despite all the chaos he brings to the universe, the mad Titan simply can't be killed, and I best can only be imprisoned in the soul gems / Cosmic Cube / pocket dimensions.
1. Stan “the man” Lee (Stan Lee)
Heads up true believers, after all he has done and is still doing for comics the man will live on internally in the hearts of comic fans via paper-based appearances or CGI. His death may have caused a few missed heart beats, but he has living proof that being a comic book fan does keep one internally young. Stan Lee will forever be alive in our heart. He may not be a comic villain, but he deserves to be on this list. Stan Lee- Biography
This list is based on my opinion and knowledge of the comic verse. There are so many immortal comic book characters who are not mentioned in this list- for instance Deadpool, The thing, Apocalypse, Mephisto, Death stroke, Anti Monitor, Doomsday, and so on. The above mentioned are simply my favourite and is considered subjective. It should also be known that this list is not a Top Ten (10).

I love the list, but I won't agree with everything. Immortal has been killed several times in the comic and twice by Omni man in season1. Thanos was killed twice in Avengers Endgame, even in the comics Dr. Doom killed him in an instant. Ra's Al ghul was also killed in the comics by Gorilla Good.
