How we escaped robbery
Hello People, I bring greetings from my hood, hope you're all fine?
My sponsors 💯❤️
Yesterday I came across an article on @Daria blog on how they were robbed. Click to read. The scenario took me back to Lanes of memories and I said I'd write mine.
During my first year in school I stayed with group of people, we were four that rented a big room and that was to reduce the high expenses of house rent. We were from same community and as such we cooked together. We lived very fine with no or little issue(you know how guys live, unlike ladies).
Our apartment was located in an indigenous compound(a house owned by an indigenes of the community), so we felt at home because the way we related. The young landlord lived in the same compound and all of us related well because he saw us as his brothers.
The environment was more like a ghetto area(all manners of people live in the area especially the rascals) but it was cool because we related well with them, we were seen as "indigenous students" living with them because of the way we related with them.
After our big room, the next door has a student occupant, a very beautiful lady, NK by name. Most times she spends the night in our room when she's bored or scared of sleeping alone. Based on a fine lady standard, she lived her life to the fullest when it comes to packaging and following guys around. The only times she sleeps in our room is when she didn't go out to sleep OR when all her numerous boyfriends weren't around. Her room was well dressed as compared to ours...as a lady🤗.

THE NIGHT CAME...
That scary night, it was raining heavily when we heard sounds of people working around in our corridor. That night, we were up to five guys in the room because some other guys joined us to read. The sound became so alarming that it woke us up. The time was around 2:00am with a heavy downpour and despite the noise of rain drops, we still heard the sounds.
Our window & door were with wood and not iron. The window has openings that one can look through and see what's happening outside. One of us peeped and saw lined-up four guys with Cutlass and axe standing very close to our window pondering on how to enter inside the lady's room. As soon as he(roommate) saw that, he alerted all of us that bad boys were around. Before we knew it, we started hearing Cutlass cut on the door of the next neighbor (the lady's door). It was so loud that neighbors around could hear even though it was raining.
"Jesus We are finished today" we were murmuring and pleading God for mercy because after the lady's door is ours, that means they would come to us once they're through because they can't touch those indigenes around.
So we started moving our valuables into hiding, I was having two small phones then, so I brought out one to act as my 'presentable property' incase they come... meanwhile I've hidden the sim cards already. The same thing happened to the other guys, and when we were running around to looking for a deeper area to hide the phones, everyone of us busted into laughter, it wasn't loud enough though but I'm sure the robbers outside heard.
What caused the laughter? We were five guys in a room and instead of us to come out and chase the robbers away, knowing fully well that they were into the lady's room, and we are here running Helter sketter to hide phones.🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of us reasoned and gave the idea of reinforcing our door and window inside, incase if they bang on it, it wouldn't open, so we took rod and fixed horizontally on the door to support it, and the window was left like that because there was no rod again.
After that, one of us referred to me to lead prayers and immediately he said that, all of us busted into laughter again.(funny guys living together know how to catch cruise in the midst of a danger). I waved off the prayer request, not that I don't believe but they wouldn't take it serious.
In the midst of all those unseriousness, jokes and laughter, the armed robbers were still around.
We heard NK crying and begging them to take everything and leave her alone. We felt her cry all that came to our mind was that, God should intervene so they won't rape her.
They came out of her room within some minutes and started pointing touch on our door & window and that was when we knew it was time for them to enter our room and what we heard was footsteps of people walking away.
Suddenly we heard a knock on window and a lady's voice came "Kingsley please open the door for me" it was NK. We thought maybe they want to use her to access our door, so one of us asked if she's alone and she said yes. We opened the door and she entered. We couldn't sleep that night.
We asked her what happened, whether they touched her, she said they only took her small phone and N300(less than $1) on the table because she wasn't having any money with her....Only God knows why they didn't entered our room that night.
When it was Dawn, we came out and saw that they cut her door into half because she refused to open door for them. Thank God for her life because she wasn't beaten or raped.

My point......✍️
During the bangs and cut of door, the neighboring indigenes heard but they didn't come out, if they had come out they would have chased them away because they must know the faces of the robbers. But they stayed put in their houses. They came out in the morning, sympathizing and pretending not to have heard anything in the night.
From that day, we reduced the raport with those indigenes because they don't deserve our kind gesture anymore.
Thanks for reading 🙌
