They’re Finally United: A Mini-Reunion

An unexpected family gathering will be the best thing that every family has. And on this day, today will probably be one of the best and most memorable days for our grandparents, especially for our dearest grandmother. We didn’t expect any of these things to happen because we only thought that today was just an ordinary day, but to our surprise, it suddenly became one of the days that we will surely remember for the rest of our lives. These precious moments that we spent with these precious and lovely people from our big family. Another precious moment that will surely last forever.

Yesterday, we had a visitor and they are our aunt from our grandma’s side. They are the children of our grandma’s other siblings. Basically, our grandmother was the oldest among her siblings, and so was our grandfather. They were both the oldest among their siblings. These past few days, our dearest grandma has been mentioning her siblings and been calling their names again and again. Because our grandma’s memory is no longer the same as before, she sometimes mistook someone as her siblings and called someone as her younger sister. One of her siblings she keeps mentioning is her youngest, who is the only one who lives far away from the rest of them because our "nanay" lives in Davao, on the island of Mindanao.

All of our grandma’s siblings are all here in Cebu and living in the same province, and the only sibling who got far away from them was our dearest Nanay Betta, who was in Davao and is also the youngest. We had fun asking our grandma about her siblings because even though she sometimes forgot, she would still talk and answer everything you asked her, even if the answers weren’t the same and correct. So, we asked her who were her siblings if she still remembered who her siblings were, and to our surprise, she correctly named all of her siblings and the first name that she always mentioned was Nanay Betta’s. Then when we asked her who were her kids, he then said my mom’s name, which is correct because my mom was the oldest, but then again he dropped the names of her siblings as her children, and according to her, my mom and her siblings were her children. We couldn't help but laugh at it.

My mom was the only one included as her children and the rest of my aunts and uncles were just her nephews and nieces. LOL. So, yesterday, we were talking about our other Nanay, who was in Davao. Nanay’s children were planning to get her from Davao and let her stay in Cebu instead, so that she would no longer be travelling from Cebu to Davao. They were just planning that time. But today, to our surprise, they just suddenly arrived at the front door of the house and we literally didn’t expect that they would stay over. They arrived at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and all of us were stunned when we saw them entering the house. It’s like our minds were still processing if the old lady who had just arrived was our Nanay Betta.

Our grandma was so happy when we told her that the person that she’d been looking for had finally arrived and she could finally hug her younger sister. They look so cute together. Seeing them reunited was so sweet. It’s been so long since they’ve seen each other again. It is just so precious to see these two oldies hugging and crying after seeing each other for a long time. They even look like twin sisters because they look exactly the same with the same gray hair and the same haircut. Typical siblings, indeed. My nephew even said that they looked like twins. Even though Nanay is already old too, she still shows how jolly and bubbly she is, even though her other eye is totally blind because of the cataract, but still doesn’t stop her from anything.

It is just so sweet and precious to see two old siblings finally reunited once again.

Aww that's so cute. Mahal na mahal talaga ni nanay yung mga kapatid nya. Despite his old age, di nya pa rin nalilimutan ❤. Pag ako siguro nandyan maiiyak ako pag nagkita silang dalawa hahaha. My heart is too soft for this

Family gatherings that may not always happen and that has also happened in my family's life when my mother's long-separated brother came home at first I didn't know they were my brothers but when it was explained I finally understood.

Such a moment of joy for both of them, that's one thing about siblings that share the same bond, no matter how far, the bond will never fail.
