Jijisaur's Learning Journey - Every Thursday! Blog #9
Good Morning! I am from the Philippines and right now, the time is 10 AM. I am really excited to say that I am working on a new collection of mine. I am working right now on my NFT collection.
As thanks to this community, I will be making an NFT giveaway. The mechanics will be rolled out soon as some of my works are posted in Opensea.
Also, I have an Appics account. I am a newbie so right now I am just looking around on the platform. You can add me @Jijisaur.
Thank you, lovely sponsors!
Here is the news I gathered for the week!
Enjoy
1) The Indian government will tax crypto.
The Indian government gave a go signal to allow crypto tradings in the country. The growing number of people who are investing in the digital currency prompted a concern to the official. They said that it can be a way or form of scamming, laundering, and terrorism financing. They released a decision that they will be banning crypto. Now, in reverse, they are now imposing 30% on crypto and NFTs, which is now, India joins other countries such as the USA.
In the Philippines, I think crypto is positive. The BSP or Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is regulating some of the crypto wallets such as coins.ph which is good because this will be the protection of the users.
2) The number of cases of Omicron in the Philippines may double this month.
The DOH said in a public briefing that the number of cases may double. As of January 15th, there are 43 cases of the omicron variant. 21 of which are local cases, 22 are from the people who are international travelers.
I do not really expect the government will really control this virus because just like the Corona virus, the government did not really step up in the early stage of the spreading. They could have shut down the entry points. I do really hope that it will not grow bigger because it is too much damage already.
3) Rest in peace, Miss USA 2019.
Cheslie Kryst represented USA at the 2019 Miss Universe pageant, finishing top 10. The beauty queen, 30, was found dead on the sidewalk on a Sunday. She fell into a 60-story building where she is a resident. The police investigation confirmed that the death cause is suicide. The family of Cheslie released a statement of the incident. Friends from the beauty industry took to social media to express their mourning and love to Cheslie.

The Commission on Population and Development rolled out a new census about population mortality. They said that in the last six years, 2021 has the highest record of mortality. The culprits are heart disease and the COVID-19 for the increase of mortality.
The population of the Philippines is about 110 million. The recorded death between the month of January and mid-November 2021 is over 768,000 deaths. It is showing that there is an increase of 25 percent from 2020 records.
5) $320 million crypto hack.

One of the most popular bridges for linking ETH and SOL blockchains, the Wormhole, lost $320 million. The hacking was done Wednesday afternoon. Ethereum and Solana are the most used blockchain in DeFi. DeFi is where contracts are programmed to make transactions. This event highlighted possible more attacks on blockchain protocols.
Final Thoughts
In this news this week, what really struck me the most is number 3. Mental health is really important. What I observed to most Asian countries, meantl health is not really a thing. They just say that it is only a phase and we should carry on. Well, it was evident in the early 1990s, but as we began to be more open about it, more people are engaging in spreading mental health issues.
I had a seminar before about mental health and I learned a lot of things. The worst enemy is the things we think. It is hard to pinpoint which part is hurting because it is all in our brain. It is a good thing that we have the technology that can help us more understand the works of our brain.
So, if you are going through something, you can check the hotlines above, or talk to someone you trust.
