Is It Too Late to Save Our Planet?
Death is inevitable. Whether we like it or not, all of us will die. However, with the recent natural calamities and the pandemic we have experienced for the last year, this calls for us to be vigilant and not be too complacent with our health.
Natural calamities are something that we cannot avoid, it happens every now and then because of natural reactions by nature. However, what we can do is minimize the damage it will cause to us.
Typhoons, wildfires, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, avalanches, etc. These natural disasters are terrifying. It's something we can't predict when to happen. One thing is for sure, we are gonna pay for what we did to our planet.
Is it too late to save our planet?
From a personal perspective, I have witnessed how enormous the climate has changed over the years. Summer 2021 was the hottest I have ever experienced. 7 am sunlight is too much to handle. That just means to say that the ozone layer has gotten slimmer and slimmer. Its purpose is to protect us from the sun's UV light.
So to speak, our chances of being saved by natural calamities get slimmer as well. So how are we going to increase our chances of saving ourselves from natural calamities? It depends on how we handle the situation.
For us normal citizens, we can contribute a lot in every that we can. A collective contribution makes so much impact.
Minimize or get rid using of plastics.
I am so glad that the city has already implemented "no plastics or cellophane" usage for groceries and other errands. That way, it reduces the effect of getting damaged by floods or destroying the ozone layer more.
Plastics take a longer time to decompose and with that, it increases the risk of being affected by floods and other natural disasters.
Stop burning garbages.
Burning is the most contributor to damaging the ozone layer. Through this, it attacks the layer that's supposed to protect us from the sun's radiation. If are old enough to realize the change it has brought to the Earth, it is surely evident.
Back when we were younger, we were taught how to dig a compost pit to deposit all the biodegradable wastes on it because once it decomposes, it'll be of use and become fertilizers.
Too bad, not everyone is responsible and consistent enough to practice it in their homes. Here in our neighborhood, the city has an ordinance to collect biodegradable and non-biodegradable on a separate day.
The garbages will be sorted out on a site. Some of them can be sold to junk shops and some of them get recycled.
Stop cutting down trees.
We have a wide front yard in our house and so there are a lot of trees planted. Sometimes its branches overlap each other so we have to get rid of some of it.
We don't cut down the tree, we just trim. We wouldn't cut down any of it though. Each of them has a sentimental value to us. Besides, it gives us shed and neutralizes the heat when the sun is up. The most important to take note of is that it absorbs water and prevents us from being affected by floods.
It saddens me to know that some of the mountain trees are cut down for illegal projects. They cut down trees to build homes. I mean, we can't avoid situations like these but let's be responsible by at least returning the favor which is to plant trees again.
Trees do not only save us from floods, it is also a habitat for flying creatures like all sorts of birds, wild animals like monkeys, and other creatures.
Reduce air pollution.
When I go to the cemetery to visit grandpa, I go either biking or walking with Sunny. I know this is just a small act but at least not riding a vehicle that produces gas means a lot to the planet.
Air pollution worsens the climate heat extent too that's why in every possible way, walk or bike. That means a lot!
Big companies do mining, wild animals are slowly getting extinct and endangered because of greed. Humans only think about making money regardless of what is at stake.
We should do our parts as tenants here on this planet. At least, we should live our lives contributing to make this world a better place. I believe it's not yet late but if we keep doing these bad habits, our time will come. Mother Earth vengeance is terrifying.
Thanks for reading.
Keep safe everyone! ❤
The climate hasn't changed. Not if you look back in time, a longer time than those years you are alive. I wonder what makes people think they can control the climate, change it.
Btw the dirtiest countries might make a very small difference but for sure entire Europe can not do the job. While we have more and more restrictions and pay billions of euros globe lists fill their pockets with the rest of the world doesn't care.
