It is where our day starts and ends.
It is where we build the foundation.
It is where we keep our belongings.
It is where we bind together, interact with each other.
It is where we feel comfortable and safe, our sanctuary.
It is where we treasure our memories.
It is where the support is.
It is where the care is.
It is where love is.
It is where the family is.
It is where it all started.
In a place called "HOME."
Basically, home is a loving environment in where we grow up, build a foundation, discover oneself, support each other for better and for worse, and creates stories and everlasting memories. Each building blocks of a home signifies each aspect of life: love and family, learning and spirituality, personal development, and health and success.
HOME AND LOVE AND FAMILY
A home can be defined in different ways. It can be how you feel about a certain place, it can be a conceptual thing, it can be a sense of belongings, it can be a building, but the most important definition of home is: it is where a family and love is created.
It started from love: from the courtships to "in relationships" status, then to exchanging vows. From marriage, a dwelling is built. From being couples to having children it is then closely bonded with sentiments and lived with different emotions, feelings, characteristics, outlook, dreams, and experiences.
They said that a strong foundation of a home also creates a strong foundation for a family. It keeps and holds the home upright while the forces of nature cause havoc. Meanwhile, the strong foundation of a family is what makes it complete. It is built by creating a strong sense of safety, providing support and strength to one another, and love and care that bond everyone at home.
HOME AND LEARNING AND SPIRITUALITY
Learning always starts at home and parents are our first teachers. Parents are the first teachers helping their kids to achieve physical accomplishments such as walking, talking, eating by ourselves, writing and reading, buttoning the school uniform, tying the shoelaces, and proper combing the hair. Parents are also responsible for teaching their kids to have better social skills such as being polite and respectful to the elderly and adults (in our country, kids are taught to say "po" or "opo" when talking to adults and elderly), taking turns, greetings and saying please and thank you. Parents also taught their children about things related to proper hygiene and accomplishing chores from basics to harder ones. And parents serve as role models in terms of molding the character of their children, teaching them good moral character and right conduct, ensuing their behavior and personality.
Moreover, knowledge about the spiritual aspects of life starts at home. Spiritual aspects of God and the ability to perceive things. At home, parents educate their kids on how to pray and things about religion and God. And at home, kids developed a sense of perceiving things in their own way through their daily lives experiences, through the significance of their culture and tradition, and through their parent's teaching.
With the ideal involvement of parents and good teachings in school, it will help children to develop better social skills, strengthen self-esteem, and promotes a healthy mind and positive personality growth and development.
HOME AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Just like how the home is developed, from conception to constructions, decorating to filling up with family, a person's development also begins from stages to changes and it all started at home. While learning things from home, a person starts to process development in terms of spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and even financial state. At home, it is where a person dreams and sets a goal in life, "he/she dream to become everything that he/she is capable of becoming".
Personal development helps in all aspects of life. It helps a person to grow psychologically and emotionally. It also guides a person to become optimistic, loving, compassionate, and change the negative habits in life.
Moreover, it helps a person to discover his/her own ability, skills, talents, and for couples, old relationships will be strengthened and new relationships will be formed. And at home, a person discovers his/her real self and become comfortable at his/her own skin. All of which gives a boost in self-image and self-confidence.
Every stage of personal development is an individual's journey. And it is up to their own decision to figure out which pathway to lead and which isn't theirs.
HOME AND HEALTH AND SUCCESS
A home defines a healthy family and successful life. A healthy home doesn't literally refer to clean, hygienic, and safe but it pertains to having a spiritually bonded family, a happy and healthy family living in it, and genuine love and support are given to one another. We can say that a home is healthy if there are positive relationships among family members. The children feel secured and loved, members work as a team and enjoy each other's company, and parents resolve conflict before the day ends or before it turns into a complicated one, and everyone respects each other's opinions. A healthy home is built on teamwork, appreciating and supporting each family member, positive communication, and spending quality time with each other that maintains happiness and harmonious home which promotes a healthy mind and a healthy family.
They said that a type of home defines the success of the family living in it. A bungalow and huge house are said to be owned by a successful family and a small and simple house is for the poor family. However, success doesn't only pertain to the financial status of the family. It refers to successfully handling every difficult situation that arose within the family. How successful the parents are in raising their children that made them become a good person. How successful the parents are in encouraging and supporting their kids to pursue their dreams. And a family can be defined successful if you see them able to achieve their goals in life through the support and encouragement they gave to each. A successful family is those who remain complete and intact despite difficulties, storms, and challenges that life throws at them.
They said that there is no place like home, yes it's true. At home, we feel comfortable in our own skin, we can be a hundred percent us. At home, we don't need to be perfect. At home is where lasting memories are treasured; the best laughs, hardest cries, challenges, and success, and most importantly, it is where the most love is felt, that is undoubtedly, a real home.
However, these are all just a concept of the ideal home and family based on its basic definition. But in reality, "not all home has a complete family", "not all family have a home", "not all successful family have a happy life", "not all kids grow up at home", and "not all living at home have happy memories."
There are millions of homeless families in the world, yet, many have more than one home and when they're unhappy with it, they have the capacity to create a new one.
Some successful persons don't have happy families. They may have the money to buy everything, but their money can't buy happiness and can't make their family complete.
And many whose memory of home is of oppressive or abusive situations. And some kids are abandoned at a young age and grow up in an orphanage or on the streets. Negative memories that deeply engraved in their minds which affects their personal growth and development.
It all started at home. Nevertheless, thinking about home bring us into our inner selves, it encourages us to perceive things in entirety. It is also a significant connection with others and the world. And home is a vital point of reference: understanding our place in time, treasuring the memories, and creating the story of our lives.
"HOME, is there we often grumble, it's there we're glad to rest, and when we've had a tumble, it's where treated best." -Anonymous
