Part 1: I Finally Got A Chance To Staycation In Sai Kung
SUNDAY
I was woken up in the morning by a loud knock on the door. I thought it was the staff delivering my breakfast, so I opened it.
"Breakfast is ready, my lady." It was John.
"What are you doing here? I just woke up and didn't prepare yet." I was embarrassed by my look so I covered my face with my robe.
"I know right. That's why I'm here to wake you up. It's already 9 in the morning in case you don't know, lady."
He said while laughing. I got more embarrassed and headed to the lavatory, washed my face, and brushed my teeth.
He took the food to the balcony and we eat together while having some conversations about the night's party. We talked about the food we want to bring and the games we want to play at the party since G-dog tasked him to take part in the planning. We planned to buy some pizza, chips, more snacks, and drinks.
And while waiting for my friends to come, we opted to bathe at the infinity pool on the other rooftop. The place was just so perfect, as well as the scenery.
My friends arrived at 12 and we headed to the market to buy some food and drinks. They were teasing me while buying as they didn't expect me to be with a foreign man. He's a friend anyway. I just shut their mouths because it was getting awkward.
After buying what we needed, we walked to G-dog's house which was 20 minutes away from the town. We came across a small cabin-like house located in a private lot outside the town with a car parking outside. It was G-dog's house, I presumed.
"We are here," John said.
Indeed it was G-dog's house. The house looked small from the outside but huge on the inside. There's even a pool behind it. I was surprised by the food on the table.
"A hotpot party? Are you kidding me?" I asked John.
Suddenly, a muscular man in a denim shirt appeared holding a pair of chopsticks.
"Welcome ladies. Thanks for coming. I never tried Chinese food before, so I opted to try this popular hot pot. I bet you guys know it?" Said G-dog.
"Of course, but that doesn't suit for a party," I answered.
"I know right? That's why I asked John to buy other kinds of food and drinks, for alternatives." He said.
"Oh, I see," I said while looking at John in the corner and he just awkwardly smiled at me, lol.
I introduced my friends to him and we occupied the first table. Out of curiosity, I asked G-dog,
"Hey, dude, why G-dog? Are you a dog lover?"
"That's a secret." And he winked.
"Mysterious guy, aren't you?" And I called John. "John, can you take us a souvenir photo with G-dog the mysterious man? If he doesn't mind." I said while looking at G-dog. John was hesitant at first, but he just scratched his head. He couldn't seem to refuse my favor, lol.
We ate the hotpot and we ladies were laughing while teaching the guys to use chopsticks. John was struggling to pick the meatballs up, so I held his hand and taught him how to use the chopsticks properly.
Abby whistled and I felt awkward in our hands position. My face turned red and I felt hot despite the cold aircon. John felt awkward too, so I released his hand and put down the chopsticks.
"You know what guys. This is boring. Why don't we eat the food we bought?" I suggested.
The ladies agreed and they opened the huge boxes of pizzas. There were chips, popcorn, and fried chicken drumsticks too. And of course, some drinks and wines.
And the real party started!!
G-dog stood and turned the music on so loudly and everyone liked it. My friends danced while holding their slices of pizza up. Meanwhile, the boys sang songs and we danced to the beat of the music.
After eating, we played card games and the boy's team won. The next was guess the mystery word game. We choose our partners and John requested to have me as his. At the center of the table was a white box and inside were mystery words. G-dog was paired with Mitch and do the game first. G-dog was assigned to sit on the chair while Mitch tried to make poses and actions to describe the mystery word photo held by John at G-dog's back.
Within one minute, the partner needed to guess the word correctly. The mystery word they picked was "flying peacock." Mitch drew a tail at her back using her hand, then wings on her shoulders. She then acted flying after and she looked so funny.
"Flying?" G-dog asked. Mitch gestured her hand to answer more.
"Flying bird?" Mitch shook her head and the guessing continued.
"Flying chicken, flying parrot, lying eagle??" Mitch just shook her head every time G-dog answered incorrectly. Mitch drew a longer tail at her back and pointed to the color blue on her shirt.
"Blue? Long tail? What the h**l is that? Flying blue dragon?" He answered frantically and we all laughed at him.
"Bro, I have never seen you being pressured like that 😂." John joked at his back.
"Shut up bro!" G-dog was pissed off 🤣.
"Okay guys, time is up. Enough with the flying blue dragon G-dog." I said and just added fuel to the fire 😂.
G-dog stood and madly grabbed the photo from John.
"Flying peacock? Who the h*ll made this?" He asked.
"You, remember I told you not to add that?" John answered and we all burst into laughter. G-dog just scratched his head and laughed at himself as well.
The guessing game continued and in the end, my friends Rachelle and Abby's team won.
The next game was beer pong with a twist. The rule of the game was to shoot a ping pong ball into the partner's cup at the other end of the table. The boys were the shooter, and the ladies were on the other side holding the cup. Each team was given 5 tries. If the guy fails to shoot the ball, the ladies would drink the cup of beer. If not, both would do a truth or dare game.
All guys were good shooters, except for John. And I ended up drinking the cup of beer in a row. While attempting to drink the fourth cup, I got dizzy, and John saw it. He ran towards me and grabbed my cup.
"Guys, that's enough. She can't drink anymore." A concerned John said.
"She has a low alcohol tolerance dude." Said Rachelle.
"Why didn't you tell me?" John asked me madly.
"I can handle myself okay? We're having fun here anyway." I answered while shooing his hand away.
"Okay couple. So you'll do the truth or dare then." Said G-dog.
"Are you serious? She's..." John complained.
"Dare! I would go for the dare." I cut him off.
"Good girl. But this dare is for John." Said G-dog. There was silence, and everyone waited for the dare.
"John, would you dare to kiss Jane on her lips?" John and I looked at each other. I know he won't do the dare. I just them,
"You guys are funny. I know he won't d.."
I was cut off from talking when John's lips landed on mine. My eyes widened but I couldn't seem to pull it off. I just closed my eyes and that's when he cut it off. Then he uttered, "sorry."
"Wooh. I didn't see it coming." Said G-dog.
"And we have winners." My friends said in chorus.
"Traitors." I gazed at them.
"We know. And we love you." They said while sending flying kisses to me.
"I like these girls, haha. Okay, guys, this is the end of the game. You can stay here for a night. There are available rooms for you." Said G-dog.
"I'll go back to the hotel," I said. John looked at me worriedly.
"We'll stay. We love the pool out there." Said Abby while pointing outside.
"Take care of them, G-dog. I would literally pull your ass out of you if you do something naughty to them." I warned him.
"Oh sure, I won't." He answered while surrendering his hands in the air.
"I'll go with her," John said.
"Bye, girlfriend. Take care of her Johnny." Said Mitch.
AT THE ROAD...
It was around 11 in the evening and everyone was almost asleep, except for the crickets in the bushes, lol. No one dared to talk and we just silently walked back to the hotel.
I was about to enter my room when he talked.
"Sorry about earlier. I just did what was told." He said while scratching his head.
"I know. You don't need to explain. It was just...awkward and embarrassing. Goodnight."
I entered my room and shut the door. The sound of it was as loud as my heart's beat. I held my chest until I could no longer hear the beating then hopped into the tub before hitting my bed.
I couldn't sleep as my mind was distracted by the game and I felt an unexplainable feeling. I took my robe and was about to go to the balcony when I heard a knock on my door. Slowly, I opened it and peeked at who was out there.
I saw John standing outside, waving while holding a teapot.
"I bet you can't sleep too. So I made this chamomile tea for you." He said while showing the teapot.
"Did you hear me awake from the other room? Come in."
ON THE ROOFTOP...
He brought the teapot to the balcony and I took a pair of cups from the kitchen.
It was midnight and we both couldn't sleep. The midnight scenery was so perfect and the moon created an illuminating path on the water. It would be my last night in Sai Kung, and I thought it was a perfect moment to say goodbye to John.
"Tonight is my last night here. I'll be back to work tomorrow morning." I informed him while sitting on the floor next to him.
"It's my last night too. And I'm still uncertain where to go next."
"Aren't you a Hong Kong resident?" I asked.
"No, I'm not. I'm just a solo traveler. Going from one place to another. Looking for something."
"And what's that something?"
"I wouldn't know until I found it." He answered seriously then sipped his tea.
I put my tea on the table next to me and laid my body on the ground. The stars beautifully coated the sky. But at that moment, I didn't feel alone anymore under the millions of stars.
"They are pretty, aren't they?" I told John while raising my hand to the sky. He looked up and put his tea down to lay on the ground as well.
"Beautiful." He uttered.
We stargazed for a moment, then all of a sudden, a flying bee buzzed over him. John screamed frantically, breaking the silence of the night and trying to shoo the bee away. I, on the other hand, was laughing at him.
"A big man afraid of a tiny bee. What a gay."
I stood and successfully shooed the bee away. John composed himself back and sat down. I offered my hand to help him stand but he just pulled me down, and I fell on his chest. Our eyes met, and my heart pounded loudly that he could hear it.
(Don't read 🙈)
"What did you just say?" He asked in a stern voice.
"Which one?" I answered nervously.
"The last word." He added with his eyes glued to mine.
"I was just...." I almost jumped out of my skin when he pushed me down and he stayed still on top of me. "I was just kiddi...." I continued worriedly.
For the second time, my words were cut off by his lips. This time, he kissed me passionately and all I could do was close my eyes and feel his soft lips. It was just for a second but I seemed out of breath. He cut it off and stared at me intently.
"Is this another truth or dare game?" I asked him faintly.
"What if I tell you the truth? I guess I found the thing I wanted." He said seriously.
"What is it?" I asked back and my heart was still pounding loudly.
"It's not it...it's...you..." Then his lips landed on mine again.
I felt like butterflies were freed in my stomach and a tingling sensation traveled all the way down to my feet. Slowly, he carried me up, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. I couldn't think of anything wrong about it. I couldn't cut it off either. I just felt the moment. The fire turned into a blaze and all the barriers just drifted away. Then things you expect happened that night.
We spent the rest of the night cuddling each other.
MONDAY MORNING
The sun's rays hit my face and I saw John sleeping soundly beside me. I smiled while looking at his sweet face, but felt sad at the same time. Something I feared to happen is happening again. And I needed to stop it before it goes further.
Cautiously, I packed my stuff and dressed up.
"It's time to go back to reality. Thanks for making my weekend happy." I whispered at sleeping John, kissed his forehead softly, and slowly walked out after leaving a note on the table.
My friends were waiting at the bus stop and they noticed my unhappy face.
"Are you okay? Did you forget to bring something?" Asked Rachelle.
"No, I opted to leave it."
I sat at the corner of the bus and put my earphone on. Blankly, I stared out of the window with a heavy feeling. I felt like I left an important thing in my life and I would regret it later.
After a moment, someone sat beside me. I snapped out and looked at the person.
"I know you don't own this bus, so I'm free to sit here, right?"
It was John. I smiled happily and hugged his arm.
"I saw your note." He said.
"Really?" I said and he nodded.
"What will you do today?" He asked.
"I will pass a resignation letter," I answered.
"That's great."
He smiled and I just smiled back, and leaned my head on his shoulder.
