When someone recommends you for a job, you are not only representing yourself but also the person who recommended you for the job. This is something most people don’t know. I don’t like recommending people I don’t trust. Those that don’t care about their reputation or someone else's.
It’s easy to trust people, in fact, I trust people easily but when it is broken once, to trust the person back will be very hard. If you can’t get a job done, you should let it be known from inception that you can't. Especially when money is involved. I got a bad feedback from a friend earlier today. I introduced another friend to him to help with a job, but for over one week he hasn’t delivered. He no longer picked the guy's call and ignored his messages. According to him, he has been quite busy but as a professional, I expect more from him.
I believe there are some etiquette a professional should have, in fact, any transaction that involves an exchange of value should have the following attributes:
1. Trust
I can’t just sideline the importance of trust in any relationship. Be it between a manager and a worker. Or a client and an organization. You need to earn people’s trust and the only way to do that is by being truthful and keeping to your words at all times.
2. Deliver as at when due/Punctuality
We aren’t paying enough attention to one of their most valuable assets in all endeavours: Punctuality.
Punctuality is important in any business, especially when it comes to dealing with a new customer. Delaying a project can cause great losses to the client. It's therefore imperative to have a schedule that will always adhere to the timetable.
Punctuality is another attribute that is vital for a successful business. It is about being on time for both meetings and deliveries, here are the few things to consider when making a business punctual:
Deadlines can be met by utilizing a system that is approved by all business stakeholders. This system requires a person or a department to take any action promptly. This ensures that the business operates with one voice taking the appropriate action on time which brings a high level of efficiency.
Deadlines can be met by having a motivating factor. Having a motivating factor can be achieved by rewarding people who perform deliveries on time with a bonus or promotion.
Deadlines can be met when there is discipline from top management particularly when it comes to giving out promotions and bonuses, this ensures that employees work hard to meet the deadline.
3. Communication
Sometimes things might not turn out as planned, you’ve tried your best but the deadline cannot be met. Make sure the client is aware. Lying and hiding information from the client will lead to misunderstanding and complications.
Communication - There should be fluid communication between the client and you. Let them know the progress on the work. You will have setbacks, they will have setbacks. You can help each other through this time by communicating effectively with one another.
Losing money, due to delays, is not acceptable. If it is out of your control, communicate that to the client.
4. Job well done
Over-deliver on what you do, always. Giving an extra touch to your design or construction is something that keeps people coming back for more.
An example would be a friend I know, he over-delivers so much on what he does, it keeps people coming back for more, that even if he gets delayed or is running behind schedule on a project, his clients are OK with that because they feel like they are getting way more for their money.
In conclusion, Communicate with the client. This is a key to ensuring that he/she is kept informed of the progress of the work. If you do not communicate, then the client may assume that you have abandoned the work and he/she will cry foul.

Yet another late hour article. I'm not pleased with myself and will try to shift back to my normal schedule.

I trully believe in this as well. Someone just recommended me to do a specific job and I am having a hard time in accepting it. It is because I know in myself that I am not only carrying my reputation but also the person who trusted me.
