It's common practice to sing the praises of certain people or organisations when they are doing things that favour us. With a single slip or mistake from them, we go on a barrage of insults and shaming. Some don't even wait until their benefactor slips or offend them before going against them. Once they believe they can stand on their feet alone, they see them as enemies.
Truly, it's something great when you are doing exceedingly well and you believe you can do it all alone. PVM once said on the club group "Work hard until your Idol becomes your rival". I find those words "Great" and Challenging. It will surely be a thing of joy for me when I stand head to head with my idols. I can imagine how it will be if a mount a podium to debate or collab with one of my Seniors in the industry. Maybe a debate on the Cost implications of various Tendering schemes or give a speech right in front of the "big guns" in the construction industry.
However, Competing with them is something different from fighting them or blasphemy those that were catalysts to your development. All great innovators have one thing in common. They can integrate the best ideas of others into their product. Some firms stick to a single innovative scheme, they do not invent many things but integrated the best ideas of existing products into theirs. So having your mentor as a rival is no offence.
Recently, I've seen someone who started from scratch get to the top. But when things started going awol for him, he resorted to blasphemy the name and brand he has been benefiting from for long before the change in fortune for him. He takes every opportunity to talk ill of it and when asked the reason why he is doing such, he gives no cogent reason. While reading another of his outbursts yesterday I tried to see if the other party replied to him in any way since the saga started but I found none written.
I don't know if there is more to it. Probably he has been offended a lot. But going all out with such words doesn't speak well of the image he has created for himself for long.
Won't you do the same?
Let me bring it down to a common ground that concerns us all. A scenario we all can understand fully well. Let say tomorrow without any reason given, you stop receiving Tips from the bot for a week at most, what would be your reaction?.
Will you also start with complaints then move on to blasphemy?. I saw a similar case recently and decided to see if I can get hold of the reason for this and I did a little investigation and notice what happened to him/her. Take note- above I said "...without any reason given" not "without reason." It's know to us all that the bot is Random on both sites after all its name starts with the word "Random". It can happen to anyone.
About a month or two ago. Most old users were not receiving anything from the bot, but they never dropped any writeup or post against the site or the same coin they once praised. It's like "breakfast" everyone will be served theirs at various points in time. Some whines and complain, I'm part of this group but they don't go about as an antagonist to the same thing they preached to everyone before.
Away from read or noise
Hope you haven't been biting the fingers that fed you in time past?... People that help you stand when you were still crawling. Those that were there for you when you had nothing. You've finally gotten your feet and you believe the best way to pay them back is by going against them or blocking their way?. You should change your ways now. For the hands that fed you once might still feed you again if you are not careful.
Though your level might have changed and your old benefactors are no longer needed or not in your league again. Never take that as an opportunity to conspire against them or seek their downfall. It shouldn't be like that.
I will end it will this Yoruba adage that says "Odo ti oba gbagbe orisun re, dandan ni ki o gbe" (A river that forgets his source will surely dry off)
