Overpopulation won't hurt the earth, it would hurt humans.
The world population is getting out of hand and I got a lot running through my mind with this topic. The world is overpopulated and we can see the impact with the unavailability of things like food, job, and many other things in the society. These things are expected because initially the resources aren't enough and it can only get worse.
A series I watched some time ago was the first I remembered, the earth was destroyed as a result of a nuclear blast and the only survivors had to return from space to start a new world.
Many of the things we are seeing in the movies now are prophecies that I fear would come to pass if nothing is done to keep the world population in check, it definitely doesn't have to be nuclear weapons destroying the world; we are putting too much pressure on the hurt.
One truth we fail to understand is that our actions which include giving birth to excess children which results in overpopulation aren't hurting nature, we are hurting the future that we and our generation will live in. At a point, human pressure on earth would bounce back which would be disastrous.
We have seen nature fight back in different forms, floods, wildfires, earthquakes, and other disasters, human experience the loss because nature would definitely flourish again with time. It has its ways of cleaning up the human mess at the expense of humans not just with disasters, the world has experienced several natural illnesses that have even claimed life even more than natural disasters would do.
Creating a world outside Earth seems to be the biggest solution, we see the likes of Elon Musk and others firing up their space project because they see what's ahead just like every person but they are in a better position to create solutions since they have what it takes.
Have we considered how much it would cost an individual to be granted access to space?
It definitely wouldn't come cheap, and with the billions of dollars these people are spending to make a world outside earth, it would cost quite a lot.
What's the quantity of people this world they are trying to put in place can hold? Would it be able to provide shelter and other basic needs of life for 10% of the world population by then?
All these things are what I think must be put into consideration, and I think we must create a balance here even when the space dreams eventually come to reality.
The task of balancing human activity and nature must be done by us, we need earth more than it needs us, and leaving the task to nature would end in regret.
Not everyone understands the impact of their actions on earth and the first thing that should be done is to change how these awareness creations are done.
Many of this awareness preach about saving the earth whereas it should about saving the human race, if everyone understands we are the ones at risk of extinction then things would be different because no one wants to die. The blunt truth must be told, what lies ahead must be said. Let it create fear in people so that they can restrain their idea of blessing the earth with excess children.
One of the causes of overpopulation is illiteracy, some parts of the world still see giving birth to excess children as an achievement. They should be the target of this awareness, imposing laws on them won't work because the government has lost its credibility.
Everyone needs to understand what role they are playing in destroying the future and the earlier we understand that, the better for it. The task isn't just for the government, every individual who understands this must play a part in awareness creation. It must start within the family, society, churches, market, and schools it doesn't have to be just on Television and the internet because most of the target people aren't even watching the TV or using the Internet.
If the world joins hands in making things work out, we can achieve lots with the proper awareness creation.
I remembered a time when there was a rumor about acidic rain, a lot of people were scared. I was returning from labor work in a rural settlement that day and I was surprised to see how the roads were free, people stayed indoors to avoid being touched by the rain.
Now imagine if it were to be that they were told that giving birth to more than a particular number of children would destroy the world in a few years, people will keep their reproduction duties in check.
Aside from making people know humans are the ones at risk, we must encourage the act of people growing their food such as crops and animals. The available resources such as food would eventually not be enough as time goes and we must be prepared for it but what matters most is keeping the earth in shape enough to accommodate us.
We must learn to manage resources and embracing the recycling techniques would help a lot.
Thanks for reading.
