Childhood is a stage in life that has an impact on adulthood and as old as the memories may look, we never get to lose them.
Some people see it as the most beautiful part of their life while it is the worst to some humans due to the things they faced growing up. Childhood is a time you got nothing to worry about, your parent or guardian is there to always do the needful for you. No troubles about what tomorrow is going to look like, we always have people to depend on to take care of our needs and wants.
I said earlier that childhood has a lot of impacts on us as we move from that small body into a stage when we will need to fend for ourselves. Everything that happens during the childhood stage influences a lot of things about us as an adult.
This post was actually inspired by @Bloghound article about teaching kids how to do some things that would be of benefit to them as they grow.
See article HERE
Take, for instance, a female child is not been taught how to take care of the home. She grows with it and when she eventually gets married it becomes a problem, the husband would eventually think she is lazy but the truth is that she wasn't taught.
Let not digress from the purpose of this article. Just like you need different recipes to make a delicious soup, the childhood stage requires some things to help every child become a good adult.
These things are mandatory, many of us didn't get it all but still managed to become better people in society today while some have it all and still choose to be bad but it would terrible not to play your part as parents, the blame would definitely be on you.
Education
Is this important? I don't have an answer to that since we all think differently.
In my opinion, education is important because it plays some role in the life of children aside from studies.
Have you thought about it, exposure, manner, improved communication, opportunities, building relationships are part of the things education offers?
Aside from the learning, going to school helps kids build relationships that later bring opportunities for them in life. Education is important not because it guarantees success, there are a lot that surrounds it.
Fun
I have seen parents who restrict their children from having fun, the kid's life runs from school to the house and back to school again.
They hardly go out to have fun together as a family, the saying that "all work and no play make Jack a dull boy" is not a joke. It is not necessarily a huge fun, you can organize something small for the family during weekends where everyone can have fun and enjoy themselves to the fullest.
A life restricted from fun can develop a mental imbalance for the kids and growing up with such a mentality can be very dangerous for the child because they can develop this regular depression, loneliness and other ill feelings when stressed out.
Morals and discipline
These two things can't be removed from a child's upbringing else, every other things the child has learned might eventually become useless.
Talking about discipline doesn't have to do with scolding them for every mistake, it has to do with teaching them how to use, manage things and be resourceful at the same time.
Every child must be taught morals, it is needed in this messed up world we live in. It is annoying seeing people do lots of shit these days all in the name of freedom, a child with morals wouldn't see any reason to join the rotten lifestyle out there all in the name of freedom and civilization.
Life Basic Need
Aside from the things listed above, there are basic needs a child must never be deprived of.
A lot of kids missed their path in life while trying to feed and provide shelter for themselves, they were somehow initiated into societies they never knew would destroy their future.
Parents need to provide these things for their kids to protect them from getting influenced negatively by the corrupt people out there. I have read stories of parents kicking their kids out as punishment which is very wrong because it exposes them to danger.
It is best to scold them than kicking them out or deprive them of food.
God's word
We must train them in the way of the Lord, training kids isn't about their physical life alone. It has to do with their spiritual life as well and this part of us matters a lot.
Teach them how to pray and meditate on the word of God, there are times they will need those two things more than anything in the world.
The spirit of God is a guidance spirit and it would always guide them from walking into things that they are not meant to involve in.
Conclusion
The book of Proverb 22 vs 6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it".
Giving them all these things would be of benefit to us as well because it would us peace and rest of mind when we are grown and can't chase after them anymore.
I understand the fact that training kids can be difficult judging by the inflation of things and the company they mix with once they are out of sight, we must try our possible best to make them the best product we can.
They would fill in our space when we are gone and they should be able to do better than the good works and examples we have laid.
