Mere dust covered in glory.
It is a beautiful Saturday morning, I feel blessed waking up to see the new day even though I only slept for three hours over the night. I woke up murmuring around past 1 am and I couldn't return to sleep, it seems I had a troubling dream I couldn't remember.
I went around the rooms to check my siblings who were fast asleep, I felt uneasy so I stayed awake writing down points for this article after seeing a movie. I spent quite a little time surfing the internet and I stumbled on a particular clip of Paul Walker that brought back memories about the movie fast and furious.
The tribute song by Whiz Khalifa and Sam Smith for him still makes me emotional whenever I listen to it, a lot of people will miss him. The thoughts about his impact on the youth made me remember Chadwick Boseman, Pastor TB Joshua, and many other people who touched people's lives one way or the other. Despite the pain, their exit brought to the heart of many, they won't be the last whose death would hurt a lot of people because we are all dust covered with glory.
There are different theories about human existence and but I still choose to believe that we came from the dust, the book of Genesis 2:7 says, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
The GLORIES.
The gift of life is the first glory every man has and every other glory comes as we grow. We make the mistake of assuming that everything we own belongs to us, many have gotten that heaven and earth belong to the Almighty God. Psalm 24:1 says, "The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.
We came into the world empty, every other glory is added to us here and that's why we don't leave with anything as well, no wonder every achievement in the world is referred to as vanity. It makes me laugh whenever I see people brag about their worth, they are proud and would even oppress fellow humans thinking that their intelligence, smartness, hard work earned everything. They have forgotten that if the Lord does not build the city, the laborers are doing it in vain (psalm 127:1a).
Instead of bragging, bowing our head in the worship of the creator should be a priority because we are nothing without him.
If you think about it critically, look at your life very well. You will understand that there are lots of things you need to be grateful for.
Is every baby born on the same day with you still alive?
Are all those you attended school together still alive?
People are doing better than you but do you realize that more people aren't doing close to you out there?
Three square meal is not your problem whereas there are people who can afford one conveniently.
Understanding a lot of things about our existence is enough to make every human humble and not handle life with too much rigidness. Look at it from this angle, after getting all degrees in the world, getting married to the best spouse, giving birth to the best kids, owning the biggest properties, sitting at the top of the world richest chart, and someone who didn't have a degree or a good life would still end up in the same dust together. The book of Ecclesiastes 3:20 says, "All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Using every glory wisely matters a lot, it could be knowledge, wealth, position, power, or anything else, and blessing others with it is what should be a priority. We will someday become a history that even 1% of the world population won't even remember, don't be surprised because we barely remember the names of people who were caught up in history in the past 100 years.
I find the comment in the image below very valuable, we are just temporary caretakers of the things we possess here in the world. We will release them to someone else no matter how much we try to keep them, remember that the end of every man will come.
The celebrities I mentioned earlier might not be remembered 50 years from now, how many of us still have the memory of our grandparents intact?
No matter how rich, famous, influential, and powerful you are, always have it at the back of your mind that we are all dust covered in glory.
I slept again at 4 am and woke up late that I almost missed my flight to the Philippines.
This article was completed on the plane as I slept off while writing and I will be spending a few days with my Filipino family before returning to Nigeria.
