Have You Seen the Story of Dahmer?
The popular documentary series on American serial killer and sex offender Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer has gained attention on social media. Since I prefer watching documentaries in addition to anime and science fiction films, I binge-watched this one as soon as I had the opportunity to see it.

Jeffrey came from a distressing household, he used to see his parents' frequent arguments since his mother was experiencing postpartum depression, which eventually caused his parent's divorce. By the time his parents had left their house, I couldn't imagine how he had managed to live alone without any comfort from the emptiness that he has to feel that day. I pitied Dahmer for what he has gone to experience in this world and for being different from the others, I know he doesn't deserve to be pitied but I think he deserves forgiveness as it is the end before he got killed he shows he repents from his sins.

Dahmer is believed to kill seventeen people in total, and the majority of the victims were black people. He even murdered a 14-year-old child, which is unacceptable in the eyes of both the Law and the Lord. Glenda Cleveland, a woman, consistently pursues a complaint against Dahmer as she has a hunch that what she hears from a separate room at midnight could be criminal activity. Back then, if the two police officers had just listened to more of Ms. Cleveland's concerns, the young 14-year-old boy might have been saved from Dahmer, it's also possible that further victims might have been prevented in the back then.
The film demonstrates how racial stigma affects how black people are regarded in this society throughout. I don't think it's appropriate to dismiss our thoughts as Asian and brown person who also encounters racism in other nations. Mrs. Glenda's voice may have raised the issue of stopping the crime from happening, but her words were disregarded as if they didn't matter. I didn't mean to stereotype anything, I just wanted to draw attention to certain topics that are actually threatening us. We have our own beauty and talents despite our physical appearance, there are no superior races that determine whether we can convey our perspective or our freedom to do anything that we wish to. Sad to see that despite our best efforts to pursue our ambitions, we are still treated unfairly by society in today's world.
Dahmer deserves the hatred of society since he stole lives from countless families, but he also has the choice to spend the rest of his life repenting for his misdeeds, which he never did. Instead, he chose to spend the rest of his life spending his sentence in prison. Perhaps life is just like that, as we are unable to eliminate evil in the world. I have so many realizations in this movie and I couldn't manage to put it all into words, all I want is for the victims to find peace in the other world as well as the hope for their families to be at ease knowing that they have already received the true justice they deserved.
