What is this strike (ASUU)
"Education is the best legacy" is a common saying in my country, many people would even say, the best gift a parent can give their child(ren) is "Education", but recently I feel that the education that the country has been providing for my fellow Nigerian in Federal school isn't education but a delay of destines.
I hate the fact that most students have been home for over 5month now without receiving lectures, this student are people that are already in the university, they were given admission to a particular course study, yet they haven't started lectures because of the ongoing ASUU strike, all federal university in the country is affected, now imagine the number of students that are home doing nothing.
Many of these students now have taken a different roads that can lead to success or destruction, many have invested this given time into business, investment, learning, crypto, forex, and so on while others are now members of one cultist group or another, some are now thief, other are fraudster, and many more bad things that can lead to destruction.
Students no longer have zeal for education, many of these students are youth, and yet they claim Youth are the future of tomorrow, what future does a country hold when all its future are getting wasted at home doing nothing.
Some people will say, I'm glad I'm in a state university, others will be happy they are in a private university, the Apocalypse is upon us, but many aren't seeing the sign, a time is coming when students will chase student out of classes, a time when lecturers will be kidnapped, a time when student going to private university or state university will be scared of going to class because they don't know the fate that would befall them. If we turn blind eyes to this matter, we are looking into a future where sleeping at night will be done with our eyes opened.
Some may blame The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for the cause of all this misfortune, some students also say it is their fault, but is it really their fault?
Many lecturer and professor from different university have gone month working without receiving their pay, is that really a good thing for a father with 3 kids, people fail to understand the plight of ASUU or the reason why they fight and go on strike, many just want the strike to end, if they end the strike now, don't you think another strike will take place soon. Why don't you let them fight their fight now and never go on strike again, people with families in this line of work will understand how it feels for these workers.
Anyways I don't want to go long, my brother, sister, and cousins are affected by this strike, I'm in a state polytechnic but I'm not happy with the way things are going for them, so many of them are depressed.
I will be starting my exam next week month, my final year examination, so I might not have much time to interact the way I use to, I will do my best to be online, but you won't see me as often as you use to.
God bless you, and God bless my country.
Our government have failed us greatly. They are not concern about the things happening around the education sector just because their children are schooling in other countries. This is one of the things that should charge us to vote the right people into power.
