An Hectic Week it was Hey! Everyone. How's our weekends going. As for me, I'm so glad today is Saturday. I finally have time to rest and sleep reasonably. Although I had a test earlier, now I'm back home since noon. This week has been an interesting and hectic one for me. I had series of test this week, backed up with academic activities, series of lectures along side. The work load was so much that I was scared of having any type of sickness, I had to stay awake in the middle of the night to read and prepare for the test. My parents keep checking on me every now and then just to make sure that I'm fine. The first test I had this week was on Wednesday, it was less stressful because it was in the morning, though we had to wait for a while outside before we were allowed to go into the ICT Hall to write the test. Yesterday was another one, lectures start as early as 8am that day, our test got delayed due to some issues from the Coordinators. We finally wrote the test by 4pm after we have waited for hours under the sun. As early as 9am today, I wrote another test and we were delayed a little bit also. Through it all, I thank God that I didn't break down. I was vigorous and energetic, I never gave up because honestly it wasn't easy, going out since 7am, coming back home late in the night only to sleep for few hours and resume to reading hundreds of pages in preparation for another day that's starting. As a student, we all are going through a trying period these days, if you know one please check up on them and keep encouraging them. One of our lecturers used a bit of her time to pray for us before commencing her lectures, she knew what was going on. Unfortunately, I can't look up to Christmas approaching as a time to rest, that happens to be the time our exams are starting. Well, better days are ahead, however, this period has come to stay with us for a while and we will not relent. I really hope this new week will be good for all of us. His Past When Tony and Mark first met, it looked like they were never meant to be together. Their first meeting was unpleasant one as they both were uncomfortable, they got stucked in a lift on their way to work early in the morning. While both of them were so furious and anxious of getting to the office, they ended up in a verbal disagreement accusing who is responsible for the problem. They have just three minutes to get to the tenth floor of their building, whereas they are stucked in a lift at the second floor Unknown to them, they both worked for the same company, a company that deals with network marketing and onlinesales and marketing. Tony has an enthusiastic character and he got divorced two years ago, he believed women are problematic. When Tony and Mark got closer, he always advised Mark not to get married if he is not ready to bear a huge responsibility. Tony happens to be a kind, compassionate and tenderhearted. He has a passionate character and does his work well. He met his ex wife three years ago, it was a blind date organized by Katherina's friend and Tony's. Their relationship developed into a romantic one and they got married six months later. Exactly a month after their marriage, Katherina started giving an indifferent attitude to him. It felt like they didn’t get to know eachother well before they got married. They ended up having an argument one night which resulted into Katherina packing out of the house. She wants Tony’s attention everytime whereas Tony needs to work even late at night. However he made sure he never neglect his duties to his wife, they go out on weekends to have fun and all. They got reconciled and continued their life for the next 8months, at that time, Katherina was of different attitude towards Tony. She doesn’t care about him and they both lived in the same house like a stranger. Katherina is hot tempered and Tony tried everything possible to please her. Tony lost concentration at work and was on the verge of losing his job. So they both resolved to getting a divorce. Even though Tony was hurt and didn’t want to divorce her, he was left with no choice since the other party was no longer interested. Life goes on, Tony continued his life and everything seems fine after sometime. Tony and Mark now seems close, they were like brothers at work. However, Mark is planning to get to his girlfriend, they had been in a relationship for about a year. Tony was happy for him and he agreed to meet her the next day. The next day, Tony planned to meet Mark and his fiance during lunch. They were already seated waiting for his arrival, as he made his way to them, he realised what he is going to face in the next moment of his life, Mark’s fiance happens to be Katherina's exwife. They haven’t met for the past two years they had separated. As they stared at eachother, dumpfounded Mark was left with a questioning face, he had no idea of who to call or ask what's happening. A Journey A day visit to her home town turned out to be adventurous and remarkable for Sandra. She was accompanied by her best friend, Anna They have been together since they were in college. Anna left her husband for the weekend to follow her best friend on an escortion to her home town. Sophia's home town is known for their traditional beliefs and practices. They believed that the spirit of their fore fathers is still among them. Despite the amusing sculptures and other work of arts in different places in the town there are certain places that are not to be entered by a stranger. Rumours keep flying around about strange occurrences that happen to those who enter inside the room. Unknown to Sandra and her friend. They were so excited to see amusing things, nature, arts and crafts. Their first visit was to Sandra's paternal grandfather. He gave them a warm welcome, he was so happy to see his grand daughter after many years. He told them different stories and tales. After a long rest. they proceeded to checking the beauty of the town. They first check the king's palace, to see different arts and sculptures put in place. They went to see the biggest river where children were seen playing at the egde of the river. They climbed mountains and hills and had so much fun. They decided to call it a day because it was already late. They planned to stay with grandfather till the next morning. However, on their way back home, they saw a cave and decided to check it out. Sandra was a fearless young lady. When they got there the cave was closed. There was a stone rolled at the entrance of the cave. Anna persuaded Sandra that they should leave but Sandra insisted on staying until they find a means of getting inside. They succedded in rolling away the stone and finding the entrance. Its creepy and dark. Anna was already scared but Sandra assured her that nothing will happen. They switched on their phone's flash light and made their way inside. Not long, after they heard a loud bang from behind, the stone rolled back and blocked the entrance. They made several attempt to get out but failed. The connection to their phone was lost so they couldn't call anyone. They sat close to eachother, frightened and exhausted. Anna keeps crying while Sandra keeps consoling her to be calm. Their phones battery will soon be down so the only light they have will soon be off. Fortunately, Sandra's grandfather had been expecting their arrival because it was already late he sensed something was wrong so he head out with some men in search of the young ladies. After several hours of searching, they found a female purse at the entrance of the cave, it probably fell down from Sandra's bag while bringing out her phone. They successfully rescued them. Unknown to them that it was part of the room that strangers are not allowed to enter. Fortunately nothing happened to them. The rumours were just a groundless one. Thank you for reading. After a Long Break Good Day from this side of the world. How has been our day and I hope we all have been fine? I have been away for some time on this platform. I have been unable to write and interact due to some circumstances. Firstly, it was my faulty phone that has been giving me headache and then the ASUU strike was called off when I was not even planning to resume soon. Ever since then, we have been over loaded with numerous lectures that are more than enough for even a day they were trying to make up for the lost time so they were just rushing everything for us. The weeks had been tiring, lectures back to back, the day was so full of activities that even weekends are occupied. For the time I haven't been able to read and write on this platform, I guess I can say that I have missed a lot. I missed writing and reading other people's work especially. Even though, exam is fast approaching, I hope I can stay and manage my time along side. I noticed that many people have left this community while few are still active, probably as a result of low turn up from @TheRandomRewarder I actually have another platform I write too but I will always try and make both work than leave this platform. Just like everyother day has been, today was stressful. We were all complaining the strike should be called off and now that it's been called off, we the same person has been complaining of the speed and the fast track of academic activities on campus. Lectures, tutorials and practices and rehearsal for our test performance all sorts of activities. What amazed me on campus today was seeing the graduating student during their induction ceremony, they looked so beautiful and they were so happy. The journey is not actually easy, running a degree for years and graduating with an excellent performance is a job welldone and deserves a pride. We see them running around taking pictures with their parents and friend. I cannot help but admire them and think of my own day too coming in the nearest future. For now I won't be able to write much like I use to, I will be writing stories some times because of my mobile phone. I will try my best to read others works and make up for the time lost. Thank you for reading ♥️
Facing Disappointments The idea of disappointment clearly showed its face to me back in my secondary /high school days. When i was little, i faced disappointments that i hardly remember vividly because they were not so painful back then. Disappointment when my brothers or elders will promise to buy me something and they failed to fulfil their promise due to one thing or another. They probably forgot or they don't have money with them at that time. I remember an occurence back in my secondary school days. We often go for competition quizzes and debates where they will pick some students to represent the school in different occasions. We contest with different schools and colleges in competitions. The best students with all rewarded with prices both cash and other means. Another invitation came in for the school where we have to represent the school in an inter school competition at the state capital, this time it was based on English alone, no other subjects. Our English teacher picked the top students who were leading the class then, especially those who were good in English and I was one of them. He told us of his plans and about the competition and told us to get prepared for the competition in the next few weeks. Our schedule was tight already because we were preparing for an exam then. Our plans increased and we had to prepare hard. I personally laboured and worked hard for the competition both in reading and registration. When the day of the competition came, our teacher back stapped all of us by picking students different from us totally. He called us out of the class but pretended as he didn't know us before or as if we never had any talk before. Teachers have their favorite among students, he picked them instead. Those that haven't prepared for the competition at all and he told us to leave. I felt hurt and pained, all my time that i used. Everyone of us were shocked and hurt. "why did he pick us at the first instance when he knew he has his favorite " that was the question everyone keeps asking. Some are not surprised when we get back inside the class, they knew him already and suspected that something like that will happen. I had other similar experiences like this (i might be sharing them later) but one thing i know is that these experiences had taught me some things: Never rely totally on any man. No matter how sweet or pleasing their promises are. Prepare for the worst. That way you will be able to bear it when it comes. That's how i trained myself, that "what if something happens and the person could'nt fulfill his promise? I have learnt man's failure. Anybody can dissappoint no matter how great or Small. It made me stronger over the years. We learn from experience. Thank you for reading. Lead Image Source : unsplash
No Device Weekend Hello to my fellow writers. I hope our day went well. It's midnight here already and I decided to make a post.before I sleep I have been unactive year for days now due to my faulty phone. I am managing it for now till I have a chance to repair it. I made a post last week on hive about a no device weekend and I'll be sharing my answer here. You have no computer, mobile phones or gaming console for the entire weekend. Write at least 350 words about how you feel and why and how you handle having no device to occupy yourself with. In this new age, having a mobile device is a trending and important aspect of life. From surfing the internet, to watching movies and listening to music and news. All these and lots more are achievable with the help of a mobile device. If I have no computer or mobile phones or any gaming device for a whole weekend. Of course it will be as boring as ever, because apart from sleeping, eating, bathing and cooking, all other activities of mine is attached to my mobile phone. For that weekend, I will have no access to watching series, music and Internet, my weekend activities is spent indoors, so I will feel bad and down. However, part of human's nature is improvising. I will resolve to doing some activities that will make me busy. Living in a country where there is constant irregular supply of power has taught me and trained me over the years, I have spent a whole three day without a power supply, my phone was off throughout that even my parent were worried at home because they are unable to call me. Firstly, I will search my dad's library to find a book and read, i love reading afterall. Even though I read most times on my phone I will improvise by reading from a book instead. There are lots of interesting books I am yet to read so I will start reading them. Secondly, I will cook some home made snacks and foods, I love cooking and baking afterall, I will create a lot of ideas on my head and try something new in the kitchen. I will try out some singing also, although, its a thing I do alongside doing some house chores. Also, I will try sewing, I will check for some fabric I am yet to cut and sew and make a dress. These are what I will do with my weekend without a mobile device. Lead Image source from unsplash. The Journey Back Home Hello to my fellow writers, i hope we all had a great day. I have been unable to engage effectively die to my phone. I am having problem with it for the past four days now. I I made a journey back home yesterday. The Journey back home was less stressful and easier. After spending whole week outside home I decided to return home due to some reasons I did some things I needed to do even though I couldn't achieve all. But at least I am able to do some part of the reasons I made the journey. I would have stayed behind and wait a little longer but I couldn't. At the early morning, my sister and I woke up to prepare for the journey as we packed our stuffs and clean the room she needed to go to the campus to submit her project to her supervisor before coming back. Unfortunately they didn't meet the lecturer, so she had to leave her work with her coursemate who will help her submit her work later. I went to the market to get some things I needed for myself and also for the house. I was beginning to regret that because my load was already heavier than i thought. We finally get to the car pack and the driver took off almost immediately. What I love seeing while in the bus is the trees by the side of the road. I love seeing nature the most. I will continue watching both side of the road till I get to my destination no matter how long the journey might take. Watching the side of the road with my earphones plugged is my own way of entertaining myself. This time I engaged in chatting with my sister whom we were travelling together. We gisted about a lot of things, school, church and who is getting married soon and lots more. It was a three hour journey, it was faster because the driver didn't have any reason to wait or park even the so called road officers always checking licenses of sorts. He didn't wait for them, he just drove past them despites their direction and signal for him to wait. The journey was smooth and blessed just the normal stress attached to commercial vehicles. Potholes and others. Thanks for reading. ♥️♥️♥️

I Wish Annie keeps her gaze on the doctor with confusion written all over it. It's already their fifth year in marriage and Annie is still battling with childlessness. With pressure from her husband's family side she feared that her husband will abandone her. This time around with her family doctor she thought she had finally become pregnant but it was something else. The result of her test shows she has 'ovarian cyst' and the possibility of her getting pregnant is very slim. She needs to undergo a surgery as soon as possible. "Doctor. Can you keep this from my husband? I will tell him when it's time" Annie pleaded with the doctor. At that moment she wished all of these never happened to her. She feared that her husband will leave her for another woman. "Alright, as you wish" the doctor replied As she walks pass the hospital building, she meets her husband by the way who's also on his way to meet the doctor, his friend. All she could think of is what excuse or lie she would tell her husband, she can't bring herself to telling her husband of her ailment. She hurriedly hide her prescription inside her bag and fake a smile. Hi darling! She smiled to her husband. Hi! Why are you here? He asked with curiousity. "A friend of mine was admitted last night so I came to check her" When they got home, her husband sensed something was wrong but he was not able to figure it out. One fateful day, Annie was home with her husband when she suddenly collapse and he rushed her to the hospital. This time the doctor couldn't hide any longer, he told him everything that was going on with his wife. He was very annoyed with the doctor, they were friends but he kept it from him. "Annie, you should have told me what's wrong no matter what you are scared of. How can you bear all these alone? "I was scared. Annie replied with a cracked voice. " I know you are. You know I've got only you. Nobody else. "I thought you would eventually abandone me when your family tells you to" "I can't believe you said that! I am your husband and I got married to you legally. No matter what happens, I will never abandone you. Annie was already sobbing quietly. She was sorry that she doubted her husband, her husband was not that kind of person, but she allowed fear to envelope her. She made up her mind never to doubt her husband again. The Resilient Woman Good Morning dear writers! I wish us a new blessed week. I will be sharing with us the story of a resilient woman I know and I shared the story on hive last week. " Let's talk about a resilient woman,.it can be your friend, family member, co worker e.t.c. What is her life challenge, and what did she do to overcome the trial she faced? This story happens to a woman of a close relative, we were not actually close to share eachother's story but I somehow heard of the story and we became close since then. She is older than I am, by the time I knew her she was a single mother with a little boy. She happens to be a widow who just relocated back to her home town (where we live). I never knew the full story of how she became a widow until I was closer to her. She would always advise us to go for our dreams and fight for our right and what we want. Her life challenge began when she was about to get married at the young age of 24. She had dated her fiance for about a year and they were planning to get married. When it was time for her to bring the man she wants to marry home, her parents rejected him. They want her to marry whosever they choose for her. Moreover, they claimed the guy she wants to get married to has an unstable job and he's an orphan. This woman fought with everything she has, she talked with her pastor and others who can help her but her family says no. As time went on, she had to let go of her love, her family is not ready to bless her union and she needs to dance to their tune. She got married to the man they wanted for her. He's rich and influencier, but after two years of their marriage, her husband met an untimely death. Things began to go wrong for her, when her husband's family accused her of her husband's death. They chased her out of their house, they didn't allow her to take their son away, she cried and pleaded with her husband's family to allow her take her son but they disagreed. She was forced to stay with her friend who was also her co worker at that time, she managed to focus on her work because that was the only means of survival for her at that time. She didn't want to go back to her parents house but somehow they heard about her situation and managed to help her get her son's custody back with the help of her former lover who was now a lawyer (the guy she wasn't allowed to marry) Despite all odds, she refused to go back to her parents house, she struggled a lot with her son and finally relocated to our home town. She met a new guy, who loves her and they will soon get married. At this time, she does not allow her parents to decide for her, she does not allow her ex husband's family to claim her son, she had the child's custody as her mother. Even when she was always accused as been the cause of her husband's death she never allowed that claim to ruin her. She was courageous and defiant. A Weekend well spent..... Hello everyone, how has been our days. It's weekend already I have the whole weekend to spend away from home. I decided to travel back go school this weekend, I have stayed at home for long, I just have to check how things are in my room and spend few days. It was just a three hours journey, it was not really interesting for me because I'm not the type that talk inside the vehicle, I was sitting at the front but I was able to hear all that was going on, all the talks and jokes they all cracked. That's how a typical Nigerian commercial vehicle looks like, you meet the sleepy ones that will make your shoulder their pillow, I detest sitting with them so much. We have the woman who were always gossiping about a lot of things, and I always wondered how they managed to talk closely as if they have known each other before. I finally highlighted from the bus and made a three minutes walk to my place. I met my sis at my home with her friend, she's temporarily staying at my place due to some reasons. After some time of unpacking I met my love (Kdrama) on her laptop and I started watching. It's not that I had something important to do, I just came because I was tired of staying at home. I watched movies, eat and slept off. Today I followed my sis to a supermarket not far from our place to do a little shopping. We got some chocolate, cakes, ice cream and a drink. We didn't plan to spend much. So we came back home to do justice to them. I was relunctant to go at the first instance but she persuaded me to follow her. I didn't want to go because I wasn't planning of buying anything, but I ended up buying ice cream, its hard to resist that sweet looking strawberry ice cream. It was fun all through, although it was almost the same for me because I was inside almost but the only difference was that I changed enviroment for few days and I met my housemates I haven't seen for the past five months. I really hope we end the strike very soon because staying at home makes me feel like I'm limited to doing somethings I would have more opportunity to do in school. Today is Friday and it feels like Saturday, I missed my church and my tight sunday schedules. Lead Image Source: Unsplash. Thank you reading ♥️♥️♥️

The Unknown General Set in the Joseon dynasty, Aera, the second daughter of the Park family is set to marry the great general of the country. The emperor in an attempt to reward the general of his recent victory in battle made Aera his wife. Tension in the family rises when Aera refused to marry the general, he lives in the campground located at the outskirts of the capital. The marriage ceremony is to be held in a month's time but she is to report to the general's mansion the next day. Nobody knows him or sees him before including Aera. The only thing heard about him is that he is known to be a fierce and wicked general who kills without mercy and always ready to foil his enemies. As young as he is, he is already promoted to be the general due to his courage and strength. Aera is left with no choice than to marry the general, nobody dares go against the emperor's command including her father who holds a high rank in the palace. Aera with her devoted maid and friend sets to leave her father's house to an unknown destination to meet her betrothed husband and start a new life she didn't think of having anytime soon. She bids her mother farewell as she sits inside the pavilion, with tears in her eyes she waves her mother goodbye. Her mother on the other hand prayed for her and wished her the best. After a long hours journey, they finally arrived at their destination. Aera knows nobody other than her maid. A maidservant is already at the gate awaiting their arrival, she welcomes them to the general's mansion. After having dinner, they led her to her chamber. Nobody knows where the general is, he is not even here to welcome his new bride, Aera thought within herself as she begins to wonder what type of man he is till she finally dozes off. It's already daybreak and Aera rises is from her bed, her maid is not here yet. As soon as she opens the door of her chamber, she meets a charming and good looking young man at the door. Aera takes him for a servant and demands where the general is. The young man informed him that the general is away on a mission at the country's border. Without second thought, Aera begins to question the young man in front of her if it's really true the general is cruel and wicked, ugly and unattractive. She told him how she's left with no choice than to marry him, she did it for her family and due to the emperor's command. She wouldn't have married such type of man. All these while the young man remained quiet and attentive. Not long afterwards, a soldier dressed in his armour walks past them, as soon as he walks closer to them the bows to the young man and greets "general" the young man in response nodded and the soldier walks away. It dawned on Aera that the young man she has been badmouthing happens to be the general she is married to. She remained silent and dumpfounded and remained stucked in a position. The general politely apologized for not been available to welcome her arrival yesterday, he promised to do his best to take care of her and protect her. As he finally walks away, Aera couldn't help but stare in amazement and shock. At that moment, she wished she had never uttered any statement, she misjudged the general based on the rumours she heard about him. She finally concluded that the general only happens to be cruel and wicked on the battlefield, he is posed as been ugly as a result of the mask he wears during battle. To her, the general is handsome and kind. She can't help but imagine how her new life will be with a husband, a new people and a new environment. "Freedom" Hello to my fellow writers. Today was stress free for me been a Sunday. After Sunday Service, I snapped with my friends as usual. When I got home, I took lunch and slept off. Today, I would like to share whatI have noticed in the past years about 'freedom'. Right now I don't mean freedom as an English word. After many years of learning a trade or skill from a boss, like fashion designing, photography, carpentry, e.t.c. there is need for freedom, without freedom from the boss such a person is not allowed to establish his own shop or work with that skill. In my Community and some others communities I have learnt that bosses used this freedom ceremony to make money from their apprentice. When I just started learning, I met some seniors with my boss that have used more than the years they are supposed to use but couldn't leave because they are not able to afford the money for freedom. Left to me, the whole money raised for this freedom of a thing is enough to start up a business with all necessary facilities and equipment to be bought. They take freedom as a serious ceremony in my community, I remember a list I had a glance through from my boss, the items the apprentice is expected to bring for the ceremony includes; 20 tubers of yam Five packs of drinks Two packs of malt Five cartons of biscuit Two Live Chicken $50 for certificate, and another $20 for prayer. All these are what she's to bring, it does not include the foods and drinks to be prepared to entertain the guest who attended the ceremony. However, I have seen and heard that these list is very little compared to others. Since then, I have concluded that I will not participate in such. I cannot waste money what is not relevant when I have better things to use money to invest on. However, we have some cases where they are inevitable, they can't boycott them. As for me I will only get a certificate in fashion designing, that's enough for me. We live in a more civilised society where all these irrelevancies needs to be stopped. I attended a friend's freedom on photography some years back, we almost empty all our pocket for them, they kept demanding for money after everything they ask us to bring for the ceremony. They demanded that pounded yam and vegetable, including jollof rice is to be served. This friend of mine still got a new laptop and digital camera. All these expenses costed a lot for her parents then. I my community, anybody who refused to comply with this "freedom ceremony" will not be allowed to work with their skill, they either seize her instrument or she will never have the opportunity to open a shop of her own. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ Lead Image Source: Unsplash.
Stressful Owanbe Today was really stressful for me. It all started yesterday when I was trying to make up with the limited time left for me sew the cloth I bought for today's occasion. The light was going on and off which was so annoying. I finished the sewing when it's almost some minutes to 12am and I finally had time to rest after many hours on the sewing machine. In a blink of an eye, I realised it's morning again and it's one of my sister's wedding. I have been with her for a while especially since I got admitted into the same school she was. I stayed with her at times and she had helped me with a lot of things since then. I carried my lazy body up from the bed to make preparations for the day. As early as 9am I was already at the venue of the wedding because the registry comes before the engagement ceremony. When I saw her in the car I was so happy for her because she is finally getting married after all these while. She look so beautiful in her white wedding dress that I couldn't stop saying "awwwn" and I took some pictures of her and ran some errands. About some minutes after 9 the program started. The registry marriage does not take long we were done after about an hour and half. This made me remember a court wedding my family attended some years back. I was in school but I got some gist about the wedding. When it was time for the couple to be joined together, as they would always say, they told the groom to show the bride a sign of love and the groom hugged the bride, those in charge of the program refused to accept the hug they wanted a kiss, but this brother disagreed and "the wedding con scatter" 😂😂😂 this brother said he's an evangelist and such thing is not allowed in the public. The court officials packed their stuff and proceeded out of the hall. That was when the begging all started still he refused the wife was already confused. I couldn't stop laughing when they were narrating what happened at the event for me, but thank God the wedding was successful when the groom finally agreed. I was busy running errands as usual when I spotted some of her friends I knew with her in school. I find it surprising when they spotted me in the hall. We gisted for a while and took some pictures together. And we all danced with the bride when it's time for her to be brought in. After all the ceremony, it's time for the reception, the most stressful and annoying part for me when I know I am part of the servers. Dealing with some uncivilized set of people is frustrating. It's not actually their fault it's not like they needed a ticket to enter the hall, so even those that were not invited came for the wedding causing hold up and all that. Problem we have with these people is that they only came to find what they will eat. You don't need to find plates for them 😂 they already have their container in their bag and they are ready to pack as much as possible. I managed to serve the bride's friend that were present at the wedding it will be very wrong for them to come and not be entertained. We managed to serve everybody present and satisfy them. After the reception I finally had time to rest and finally time to go back home. I accompanied her friends to board the bus that will take them back to their destination. This is just the summary of how my day went. Thank you for reading ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
Weekend Reading I made an entry on hive last week on the Weekend Engagement concept. I will share my response to the question here . The question is: "What book are you reading this weekend and why? What do you love about it? The response has to be a book you are currently reading, not one you read previously. Photograph the book as your image for this post" The book I am currently reading is "The Power of Being a Woman" by Michelle McKinney Hammond. I have resolved to reading books lately these days, for the fact that I love reading books and for the fact that I am less busy doing nothing at home. Over the past months, I have been reading journals and ebooks on my phone because I don't have them at hand. I decided to pick up a book from my dad's library few days ago. What interest me about the book at first was the title. It gave me a glimpse of what I should be expecting and what I am looking forward to read. Yes! I am a woman and I am looking forward to been an extraordinary woman. While I was still young, I remembered when my Aunt once visited, I have seen her reading this same book but she couldn't complete it due to her short time visit. In her next visit, I noticed she had the same book with her (not my dad's copy) she searched for the book in a book store and bought her own copy. I wondered what was so special about the book. Curiosity and Interest made me pick up the book and start reading. From what I have read so far, the book is awesome, the writer focuses her attention and writing on feminity. "The beauty, the grace and the triumph of the feminine spirit" I learnt a lot from the book so far. It's okay to be feminine and rejoice in everything we are created to be. God did not create women to be inferior to men, we were created to be equal to one another as partners and helpers and we should recognize our own unique powers. The chapters are not really long but I will not be able to complete the reading this weekend. In my next reading list, the book I will be reading is "My Story" by Selwyn Hughes. An autobiography by a Welsh Pastor who has a world wide ministry. I have always picked a special interest in biographies and autobiographies. I get to meet them and their lifes through their stories and learn from their ways. I Missed Teaching Teachers are heroes, real heroes. From creche, to primary to secondary, our teachers are really trying. They might look harsh while beating or scolding, but they are nice and loving. After completing my secondary/high school education, I couldn't gain admission into the university immediately so I resolved to teaching alongside learning my fashion designing. Teaching looked tiring at first because I haven't done it before. The children were so noisy and stubborn I hated noise. Many of them wouldn't understand or grap what I'm trying to teach them immediately, I have to be patient with them and teach them during free hours to be able to understand. I have the brilliant students (always the teacher's favorite) who are always cheerful and the first to answer questions. I have the average students, those I have to make extra effort on to make sure they understand what they are been taught. I have gentle ones, always quiet and reserved who are also brilliant. All of them are with various characters with amazing personalities. One amazing qualities they have been is they are always happy and cheerful in class. I am always easy with them to make sure they are comfortable. I have the stubborn ones, those I have to punish and scold, restrict the way they play because they forget things easily once they play and run around during break time. I have a special student while I was still teaching, a physically challenged student, she cannot speak properly and does not hear. She stays with her mates in class because she needs to reach a certain age before she can transferred to a 'special school' where specialist trained in that aspect will focus their attention on them and teach them. So far, she is able to write what is written on the board to some extent, despite the fact that she couldn't speak she loves to interact with her mates. She disturbs them in class and they report her behavior to me countless times, I understand that's her way of trying to get their attention and play with them, but it's always a wrong timing, because she disturbs anytime they are busy studying in class when she had nothing to do. I advised them to be patient with her and play with her during break time which they did. The girl in particular is always smiling and happy anytime she comes to class she kneels and greet like everyone does, she sings sometimes which is always not clear and at the same time a wrong timing, she disturbs a lot, tears off a whole note book within a day, but despite she happens to be one of my favorite. She does not allow anyone to cheat her, while other students are taking turns to stand in front of the class to read while other students respond (a teaching method I used for my students) when it's her turn to read hers, she wouldn't allow them to bypass her, she would stand and point to the sentences waiting for her mates to pronounce them. She is always happy whenever she does that. To mention but few, my students are brilliant and loving. I missed those days when I will always grumble finding it difficult to wake up as early as 5am to prepare for school, but I find joy teaching them, maths is always what they hate but they love everyother subject including learning poems and songs. True Value Hello, everyone. It's been a while I write here. I have been away due to some reason. It's already a new week and we are looking forward to achieving a lot. Everyone including me already mapped out plans and schedules for this week. My schedules for this week includes watching series and writing😂. Although, a sister of mine is getting married this weekend, I have the whole week doing nothing until Friday. I really hope we make the best use of our time this week. I can't believe we are already in the half part of September. I had earlier complianed how this month was slower than expected but it's faster now and it's seems it's getting faster to me. What I learnt this past month is value. What determines the value of a person. What do we look forward to see in a man before we tag him as a man of value. Is it money or fame? Many are rich without character, should we still call them a valuable person. The true value of a person is his/her character. It does not matter his appearance or qualifications. The color of the skin or tribe does not determine a person's value. It's the content of a man's character that will tell people who he really is and what kind of a person he is. We should not judge people based on their appearance or dressing. In our society nowadays, we often misjudge and give regard to people that do not worth it. A man with a true value is the one possessed with good qualities and virtues, like humility, integrity, patience, love and many others. Many people are labeled for what they are not. Imagine seeing a man with an iPhone for the first time. That phone will give many the impression that he is rich and influencier, others will start respecting him and all that. Along the line we later discover that he got it all wrong. Probably he got the phone through a dubious means or he's not the owner of the person. When you see two men standing before an audience, one is dress in a simple shirt and trousers with a sandal, the other putting on a suit with a shoe, dressing up nicely more than the other one. The audience will focus attention on the guy on suit, they prefer to hear what he has to say than the other man in a simple shirt and trouser. Our attentions are focused on things that glitters and favourable at first sight. It does not mean that person is better or has a good attitude towards us. Tribe, profession, qualifications, dressing, does not define a man's value. Let us focus our attention on people's character and study them by doing so we can know their worth. Motherly Love and Affection Good Evening from this side. How has been our day. Today was so full of activities and house chores for me. NEPA decided to be frustrating again, it's been three days without light in my area now. They were trying to fix a new transformer over here and they have decided to shut down the light in my area for the whole time they will be spending till they are done. You can imagine. I have resolved to listening to music for a while now, a lot of things I needed to do has to do with light. Music created series of imaginations for me and I have time rest my mind since morning. Today being my mum's birthday made me think of the topic "Motherly Love and Affection". It's true many are not privileged to have a mom either biological or not or they are no more. There will always be a vacuum space nobody else could fill in their heart except a mother. Mothers are so full of virtues. Sacrifice and Love. Mothers sacrifice a lot. I have seen it. That ultimate and selfless sacrifice. There has always been a moment where mothers will have to let go of something important at a particular moment for the betterment of their child. It might be money, time, work, even sleep. It's not as if these things are not important to them as well but they always put their family and loved ones first. Imagine a mother looking after her sick child at night. She needs to rest also, of course who won't go to bed after the whole day's work but she needs to watch over her sick child. She denied herself sleep, it's not important at that moment, what's important at that moment is her child wellbeing. In the aspect of money, their child comes first. I remember while we were still young and my mum will always buy Christmas clothes for us. She would get our own first. I always wonder why? Why can't she buy everything together including hers. I had no idea that my mummy couldn't afford to buy clothes for the whole house at the same time. She still need to buy chicken and foodstuffs and other exciting things to celebrate Christmas. Her own clothes are not important to her, if she gets another money she will buy her own and if she doesn't she will wear the ones she has before. Sacrifice and Love is one virtues in all mother's. It's one out of many. There are many special and amazing features Nigeria mother's have. To mention just one. I always hated following my mother to the market, but they are sometimes interesting. At first, she knows almost everyone at the market and almost everyone at the market happens to be her customer and will greet everyone one after the other, after exchanging pleasantries, conversations continue, I will still remain standing frustrated and tired. The interesting part is when pricing goods, at first I would always pity those traders the way my mum will price the goods and cut the prices to the lowest price I could ever think of, but when I discovered the real price of the goods I started learning from my mum and I think I'm now an expert 😂😂 Our mothers are amazing and loving. We should really appreciate and thank them for their motherly love. That will be all for tonight. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ Lead Image Source: Unsplash.
A Rare Day Like This It's a "good evening" over here and it's almost time to go to bed (not me though) How has been our day so far. Since this month began I noticed it's has been kind of slower than expected to me. I don't really know if it's only from my side. By now I think we should have reached half of the month, or maybe it's because I have been staying at home for the past five months doing nothing than blogging. Today has been a little bit hectic for me, unlike last week that I had nothing to do than to watch different series (Japanese, American, Korean) I watched everything. Normally I woke up around 10 to 11am every day except Sundays. But this morning I woke up earlier this morning to cooking, something I hardly do early in the morning. Mum noticed that "sleep will spoil this child for me" 😂 😂 so she took action this morning and stormed into my room, I remained on bed sluggishly answering her with "hmm" but when I heard my dad's voice, omo😂 i quickly carry my lazy bones and made haste out of my room. Everything was resolved and I finally had time for my phone. I checked my WhatsApp for new messages but the network was not really encouraging so I stopped and continued the house chores. And then I discovered I had three clothes to deliver this week but I decided to postpone it till evening hoping there will light but no 😢 they sure know how to betray when you keep hoping they will restore the light. Here I am waiting for light to be restored so I can start sewing the clothes. Things are really happening. While I was having an afternoon nap, mum and my bro came back from work and I heard some little conversations from my sleep. I quickly stood up to listen to the latest gist in town but it was so heart breaking. I shared a story of how a burglar was caught and stripped naked in my community some weeks ago. Despite that, we keep hearing robbery cases here and there. This afternoon some men raded a house, they knew our area was always quiet in the morning when everyone would have gone for work, unknown to those burglars a young lady was left alone in the house. Unfortunately she had no one to help her when they break into the house, she was beaten blue black and then passed out. She was rushed to the hospital afterwards and finally regained consciousness this evening. I felt bad for her she was beaten in her own house and wouldn't even think of such thing to happen to her. People started blaming her mother for leaving her alone at home. I started thinking of myself, I am always left alone at home if every one had somewhere to go, I had nowhere to go. But I know God watches over his people. I really hope these perpetrators are caught soon and brought to justice. That's the little I am able to say about my day today. I am still waiting for the light to be restored, I still some things to do tonight. I have been trying to post this very article for almost two hours now but the network is really bad today. A Barrier Tade and Patrick were both mates since high/secondary school. Their kind of love seems unbreakable because they promised to marry each other after they have completed their education. With no doubt, these loverbirds have grown fond of each other that even their classmates are jealous of their relationship. They sit together and read together. They are both from a different tribe but there seems to be no barrier between them. When it's finally time for them to get married, Tade took Patrick to her home, she wants to show them the guy she loves and wants to marry. After many enquires from Patrick, they discovered he is another tribe they wouldn't support their marriage because of their different culture and tradition, geographical distance between the two tribes and language barrier. Despite much pleadings from Tade to her parents, they refused their union. They will allow them to get married under some stated conditions. Part of the conditions includes Patrick's relocation to their home, they wants him to leave his family and live with them. Of course, it's impossible, Patrick belongs to a different family and another tribe. That puts an end to their love life. They finally moved on with their lives. Tade got married to the guy they want her to marry and patrick married another lady. After some years, Tade's husband suddenly died, she had already given birth to only a girl after multiple miscarriages. She was accused of being behind her husband's death. Her husband's family seized her husband's properties and chased her out with her daughter. At that point, Tade had nobody to help her, she wished she had never married the man she married, she wished she had married the man he loves. She had nowhere to go because she was jobless with no certificate. She didn't further her education to a degree level. When Patrick heard of her situation he felt pity for her. He began to assist them financially and sponsored her daughter's education. He was graduate and had a good job. He helped the daughter to have a complete and sound education. When it's finally time for the girl to get married, she asked Patrick to come to her wedding ceremony because she took him as his father and benefactor. Patrick kept ruminating over the issue, he kept thinking whether it will be right to attend the wedding, will misunderstanding not arise as a result of the past relationship he had had with the girl's mother. What would Patrick tell his wife as excuse to enable him attend the wedding? Won't the wife feel Patrick has a daughter outside their marriage? What should Patrick tell the young lady who wants to introduce him to people as her benefactor and surrogate father? A Slave on the Throne Dina, a slave boy grew up into adulthood in the palace of Alapik Kingdom. He knew at first hand all the tactics and manoeuvring that takes place in the selection of a new king. Not many knew his pedigree because most of the elders in the kingdom of Alapak had passed on. So when the opportunity came he grabbed it with both hands and firmly too. The way and manner he ascended the throne remained a mystery for a long time and it was a subject of debate among the townfolks. The level of manipulation and the treachery of king makers gave room for setting aside culture and tradition, honesty, integrity and other requisite qualifications. In fact, the ifa Oracle was not consulted to establish the veracity of his claim that royal blood ran through his veins. Alapik Kingdom indigenes were yearning for a new king with charisma, good personality or who had a Midas touch that would bring progress, development and civilisation to the ancient community. Diba had none of these. His incompetence came to the force not long after ascending the throne of "his ancestors". Unknown to many he had supporters who were ready to give him unflinching support because they will gain or exploit his weaknesses and glaring loopholes to their advantage. In order to consolidate and hold tightly to the throne, he relied greatly on cash inducement of his opposers, threat and dlabolical powers. Many members of the opposition fled the kingdom in order to live and fight another day. Gradually, Diba metamorphosed into a tyrant and dictator. His reign brought untoed hardships, misery and abject poverty to his subjects. Traditional festivals celebration came to a halt. Chieftaincy titles were given to the highest bidder and awarded to any body who had money to buy them no matter how dubious i.e people of doubtful character and origin. To make matters worse the sacred forest was invaded and desecrated and vandalised. The first victims were trees left for many by his predecessors because of spiritual reasons. Lumberers had a field day, the land too had became fertile having been abandoned for many years to fallow, it became a hot cakes for farmers. His administrative blunders continued unabated until one day his subjects Rose to challenge all the illegalities being perpetrated. Although the momentum of protesters died down after some few days, because their leaders were eliminated, Diba could not resist the force of the people - their numerical strength, their diversity, unity and resolve. The men, women, children, adults, young and old resolved to terminate Diba's rule of terror. The people went spiritual, Ifa Oracle was consulted and the god's spoke. Diba was brought to the palace as a slave, growing up and mingling with princes and princess hid his Identity for many years. Subsequently, Diba bowed to pressure and combine powers of poor people. His Identity had been exposed, his administrative style uninspiring and everything around him was suspect. Diba's rule grinded to a halt in less than two years and the selection of a new king set in motion, this time, doing things in the right and proper way. Diba's smartness got him the throne but his character brought him down. Lead Image Source: Unsplash Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ I hope you enjoyed reading the story.
Behind Her Great Powers Kafi was just an ordinary girl, living with her parents in a small village located at the Eastern side of their country. In the hands of kafi lies a great power that nobody else in the country possessed. Earlier, she was not aware of her powers and avoids making contact with people. She gets scared easily when she's in the midst of the crowd. Her parents thought she was possessed by some spirit, as she speaks weird things in her sleep, talks to herself and smiles mysteriously. She often had night mares that are terrifying, and her dream always comes to pass. She once predicted the death of an old woman's son which came to pass. They called her a witch and a sorcerer. Her anger brings devastation and always results in destruction. Her parents were worried about her and they warned her never to touch anybody or predict their future. Anytime she suppresses her powers and tried to keep it in, she got a serious headache and often pass out. She had no choice than to use her powers. Soon, her powers became known thoughout the country. Great men from all over the country sought for her and her powers, they wants to know their future, their fate and what lies ahead of them. As a result, many seek to assassinate her, some planned to kill her while some planned to abduct her and use her for their own suit. What lies behind her great power? Her parents begins to wonder. The secret her parents kept from her was that she was found in the bush while she was still a baby then they took her home and she became their child. They took her to several places to trace her source and know the reasons for her powers, but their attempt proved abortive. The only thing she possessed when she was found was a necklace found on her neck which she always have around her neck. An unfortunate incidence occured when kafi was ambushed on her way from the market, she was abducted and taken away. When she wakes up from the faint slumper, she found herself in an unknown place. The man who planned her abduction wanted to use her powers to gain power and wealth. She remained bounded hands and feet after attempting to escape earlier. The took her necklace from her, thinking that's where her power lies. They had no idea that the necklace was meant to protect her and her powers. Immediately the necklace was removed, she began to feel enraged, everything resulted into commotion and turbulence. Every one around her died at the moment and she fainted, and when she wakes up, she found herself in an unknown place and calls for help. An old woman came out and called her "helen" This old woman narrated her life story to her, she was present when her mother gave birth to her. While she was still in her mother's womb, a prophesy arose about the unborn baby and how her birth will be chaos to the world. The king of the land planned to kill the child after she was born. Her mother gave birth a twin instead and while trying to escape from the king's guard who was chasing after her to kill her child, kafi, whose real name was Helen got lost and the mother and her twin sister were killed. Nobody knows she exist except for the old woman. The necklace was given to her mother and it was meant to keep her hidden until she has control over the power she possessed. Now that she knows her story, she will face her world and her life. Her powers are not meant to bring doom to the world. It's a gift rather to help change the world into a better place. Without the necklace, her powers came out in full force and she became stronger than ever before. She wouldn't hurt the innocent, rather she will use her powers to change the world. Running an Online Sales When the COVID 19 pandemic broke out in 2020 we were all told to vacate the school and come back home. We all thought it would be a very short break and we would resume school in no time. After the COVID 19, we went into ASUU strike and I spent a whole year at home. During these times things were quite unpleasant for most of us. I decided to try some business and help myself somehow since I had nothing to do than watching movies. I had a cousin who is into online sales, they import goods from China and Turkey and sells it here in Nigeria. I joined her group chat and I startes posting the goods on my social media. The first challenge I had was that, the goods were luxury so they are very expensive, not everyone could afford that. I had some who were willing to buy but couldn't because they cannot afford that amount. I tried to reduce the price as much as I can so I would also gain something. Since it's an online business, of course payment for delivery will be included on the goods, some will have the money to buy things but can't afford the delivery fee. All these made me a little bit discouraged, every one around me started asking me how much I have earned so far, how much there are giving me wasting my data all these while. I was still new to the business then, so I was still learning a lot of things. Some have decided not be buy things online again due to previous disappointment. There are some post I saw most times on the social media; "What I ordered vs what I got' It contains two pictures one which was a very nice cloth or something else, the other picture will be a very bad version of the same nice picture. If it was a physical sales, they wouldn't have fallen victim of that situation. The post are sometimes hilarious and it's common among tailors. I once chatted with a sister who wants to get some shoes with me. She told me to send the pictures of the ones I have presently which I did. The next thing I heard from the voice note she sent was that she wants real picture not "oyinbo picture" I didn't know when I started laughing. The picture was nice taking with a good camera, it's a nice picture that will attract anyone that wants to buy but this sister said "no" she even wants to see the shop where the shoes are😂😂😂 After some times, I gained more experience in online sales, I later got some other suppliers from different states which are easier and cheaper. And I tried as much to convince them to buy anytime they are having some kind of doubt or second thoughts. Some I didn't even think of buys from me without stress and of course I still argue with people like that sister. It takes almost a whole day showing them what they want and convincing them to buy and lastly there are people that priced goods ridiculously, while some will just come to your dm to ask and compare prices and say 'okay, I will get back to you' that's the last thing you will hear from them. For now, I still have some little challenges especially when people asks for something and I do not have at that particular moment or the person's size is not available. Being a side business, it has helped me in one way or the other and ain't giving up anytime soon. Lead Image Source: Unsplash. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️ ♥️.
Movie Review: Alchemy of Souls Movie Review: Alchemy of Souls Good day to everyone. I hope we all had a great day. Today I will be doing the review of a recently watched series by me. I watch different types of movies but mostly I watch America, Kdrama and Indian most times. This particular one is a Kdrama series and it's Fantasy/Romance series. Set in an historical era, in the country of Daeho. This country does not exist in the world map. There exists mages from different families with different powers and abilities. This movie hits differently unlike other kdrama we are all familiar with. The plot, the settings, the storyline and the characters were all perfect. The series is all about magic and swords fighting which has always been what I enjoy watching. I love the combination of the two leads, Jang Uk and Mu deok, whose fate were twisted due to an alchemy of souls also known as soul shifting. Jang Uk's father who was a strong and skillful magician shifted his soul with the body of the king in an attempt to help the king bear a child before his death, the king who has a sick and weak body wants a strong body for few days in order to bear an heir to the crown. The king betrayed him and took the master's wife as his own. And she bore a son who was named Jang Uk. Nobody knows the real father of Jang Uk was the king and his father disappear after his birth. The female lead on the other hand, was formerly Naksu a shadow assassin who kills the mages in the land ruthlessly in an attempt to aveng her father's death who was killed by the mages. The day Naksu almost met her death after fighting with the mages, she shifted her soul into the body of a weak and blind girl. As a result, she lost her powers, her real body was burnt and her soul was trapped into the body of Mu deok who became Jang Uk's servant. The plot twist between these two characters, Jang Uk, a trouble maker, he has never mastered any spell successfully, he is regarded as a nuisance among others. Mudeok, formerly an assassin, now a servant secretly trained his master Jang Uk to be best warrior. It shows the value of friendship and loyalty and thirst for power as there are villian in the series who were after the power of the ice stone. The power of has no definite owner, but the ice stone currently lies in the hands of the wicked, who were using it to exploit and do evil. Other characters in the movie portrayed different roles that were all amazing. I recommend this series for as many that likes movies that deals with magic and swords fighting. It really worth watching. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ Image Source: Google.
My Experience on readcash so far Good day fellow writers. How has been your day. Currently there is lack of power supply in my area for the past two days and I have been unable to write or engage in other people's post. Hopefully they should restore the light anytime soon. I got an idea to write on this topic today after making a post on hive yesterday. It was like an appreciative and goodbye post. It's a weekend post I normally write on every weekend. The question asked was that "If this weekend was the last weekend that the Hive blockchain existed, what would you write on your last post. I thanked everyone that has helped me on hive so far. It was imaginations and assumptions. I believe hive is not shutting down anytime soon. My read.cash journey started five months ago actually, but this account is four months old. I came back home from school by April, due to ASUU strike, and I met a friend of mine at home who introduced me into readcash. The first challenge I had was talking to a stranger, the friend who introduced me to readcash was not a writer so he introduced me to another friend of his who was already a user on readcash. She promised to put me through and teach me everything I needed to know and as time went on I got familiar with the platform. But she was a very busy person so she do reply to my messages late. When I registered my first account, I waited for a whole week, yet rusty didn't upvote my articles. I continued writing consistently, engage in other people's work and follow every guidelines and principles, yet @TheRandomRewarder didn't visit. My referral checked my account whether it has been spammed but no. She advised me to open another account which I did. After making another introduction on this new account, rusty visited my account that day and I got as much as $7 for that introductory post. It motivated me to keep in writing consistently. There were times when rusty wouldn't visit my article for more than three days, I feared my account have been spammed but that wasn't the case. Another challenge I had was 'writer's block' I would stay up for a whole day thinking of what to write or thinking of the appropriate topic to give an article. I had problem with data also. It is not that readcash is data consuming like other blogging website I know but my budget for data increased. I normally subscribe for data to download series and for my Whatsapp before. I kept on being persistent and kept on writing. For the past months that I have been on this platform, I have achieved a lot, I got to know a lot of people that I wouldn't have met physically. I gained more experience in writing, and of course I got some amount to help myself financially. Thank you for reading. Lead Image Source:Unsplash
Gaining the Interest and Attention of Others Many people are struggling to win the attention of others and build a genuine friendship. We find it hard to gain the interest of others, to make friends with others or even have a dialogue with someone. There are things we need to learn, adjust and change about our personalities and appearance. Our impression matters a lot if we want to gain the interest and attention of others. A warm and Genuine smile will do. You can not start a conversation with someone you are meeting for the first time with a frown face. "Who the hell does that? The expression on your face really matters. We cannot fool anybody because our "action speaks louder than words" and as they always say "first impression last forever" It cost us nothing to just put on a smile on our faces, but it creates many wonderful things. The memories are fresh and it last forever. The first impression people know you for will always be remembered. It defines who we are, and people will always take us for that kind of person. That's why we need to be mindful of our behavior when dealing with strangers because the way we present ourselves to them for the first time will be what they will remember us for. Imagine meeting a stranger for the first time and giving such person a frown face and replying with a harsh tone. It doesn't matter if we are not that kind of person, or we are passing through a difficult situation at that particular moment. What that stranger will remember about us is that we are rude and cruel. Our genuine smile tells a lot about us and it creates a pleasing atmosphere among others. Publilius Syrus says "we are interested in others when they are interested in us" We can simply get the attention of others when we are genuinely interested in them. We should show interest in them and their works. We should offer to do things that requires time without being selfish. We should try and be an attentive listener, being a talkative and talking incessantly about ourselves alone is wrong and does make us gain the interest of others. Listening to others and what they have to say will be better. Many are not interested in what others have to say, we only rant about ourselves which might be boring to the other party. Be an attentive listener, do not bust into others conversation. Ask questions that are interested and encourage them in whatever they are saying or what they are planning to do. Listening means we are interested in them. Thank you for reading. ♥️♥️♥️ Lead Image Source: Unsplash.
2023 Elections: Expectations from Leaders and the future of Nigeria Students Good Evening to my dear writers. I have been busy this week and at the same time been dealing with writers block for the whole day. I wrote an article for an essay writing contest during the week I decided to share it here. Feel free to share your view. We are looking forward to elections in the next year in my country and there have been a lot of predictions of all sort. There are candidates that are qualified and those that are unqualified to me. Notwithstanding, there are some things we should look forward to before casting our votes. It's not about voting for who will win but it's about voting for the right person. Elections in 2023 includes Presidential, Governorship, Federal and State Houses of Assemblies and Senatorial Elections. The Umpire or referee of these elections is the Independent National Electoral Commission. (INEC) The whole country will be casting their vote to elect candidates of their own choice. The future of the citizen and Nigeria students will depend on the type and calibre of candidate of people elected. Nigerians expect them to fulfil the promises they made during campaign. Many of their campaign promises have to do with the welfare of the citizens, like security and safety of the country and it's citizens. They should ensure that there is peace and protection for every citizen. Kidnapping, bandictry, armed robbery and other forms of violence and insecurity should be stopped. No development and progress can take place in the nation if there's insecurity. Provision of scholarships should be made for indigent students. Absolute attention and focus should be given to education sector. They should provide opportunities for students to study and learn and avoid Academic Staff Union of Universities incessant strike and any other situation that may cause delay to the education of the students and prolong their academic activities. Our leaders are expected to ensure that there is gainful employment for graduates. Employment by the federal, state and local government and into federal parastatals and ministries ought to be provided. The government should create jobs to curb youth restiveness. We also expect them to provide decent environment for learning in the higher institutions by renovating and remodelling dilapidated buildings, construction of new lecture theatres, libraries, hostels and laboratories in order to ensure more comfortable, conducive and decent learning environment. More focus and attention to be paid to the welfare of lecturers by giving them decent salaries and stipends. Many lecturers tend to leave the country for greener pastures because there are more chances of survival there for them than in Nigeria. Since white collar jobs are no longer available government can provide loans for graduate to be employers of labor through small scale industries like poultry, agro allied industries like fisheries, piggery, planting of cash crops like cashew, cocoa, kolanut, palm trees e.t.c. The government can do better in the aspect of education by sending brilliant students abroad to further their education then bringing them back to the country after they have completed their education and put them into a good use. In order to encourage creativity and intelligence, they should mobilise, empower and employ youths in the aspect of technology and invest in them to help curb the rate of unemployment and create more enterprenuers. They should provide necessary facilities to encourage and mobilise youths into sports. The impact of sports on the country is far beyond the national achievements. They should make it their responsibilities to develop the sports industry. As youths is the nation's most valuable asset, our leaders should invest in the life's of the youths, investment in man is the greatest investment. I hope to see better lifes for every citizen of the country, the youths and Nigeria students. Lead Image: Unsplash Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️
A Three Day Weekend Here's an entry I made for this week weekend engagement concept on hive. "Traditionally, the weekend is Saturday and Sunday, but what if you could have a three day weekend every week? Would you work longer hours for a three day weekend and if so why? If you prefer the two day weekend format and shorter work days explain why" Weekends are meant to be a free time, after working for the whole week, weekends are expected to be a time to rest, spend time with our family and our loved ones, to attend parties and dinners, weddings and other ceremonies. Many use the weekend to rest and prepare for the next week. For others, weekend is an extra work day they are able to complete some unfinished projects and businesses on weekends and there's no way they are able to rest. For me, the weekend is another work day on its day. Not an extra work day but I start another work afresh during weekends. Each day comes with its own agenda and plans for me. It has always been a wish from my heart for weekends to be extended. I wished I had longer weekends than the normal Saturday and Sundays . If I could have a three day weekend, it would be nice and I will be happy because I will finally have chance to rest on weekends. Normally, the two day weekends I have every week are not different from the other days of the week. For the whole week, I receive lectures back to back from our different lecturers. My work schedule was so tight that I didn't even have time on my own. My undergraduate study in the university is a double honors and that means I am combining two courses together. I have to attend all classes schedule for my course during the week, I attend tutorials in order to help myself academically too. I needed time to study on my own so everyday of the week was already fixed. For the weekends which are saturday and sundays. Saturday is the only day I have to attend to my house chores, washing, cleaning and cooking. I shop for foodstuffs and other things i needed. Saturday was the only chance to get that. Saturday was the day I have full time to attend to my online customers because I run an online sales and I am a fashion designer. Three are lots of work to attend to my customers. Sunday is the production day for a News Agency I belong to in my department. I move to the campus after my church service for the meeting and I return home very late in the evening. If I have an extra third weekends, then I guess I will finally have time to rest before I start another new week. I will not work longer hours for the extra weekend I will rest as much as I could and have time for myself. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ Lead Image Source: Unsplash The original post first appeared
A Rare Day Today was quite stressful for me that I ended up developing cold and headache. I hardly go out these days especially since the war between ASUU and FG remained a continuous battle. I only go out on Sundays and I do go to the market occasionally. Today I had to travel to attend a program in another town. The journey was just an hour from my place. The journey was supposed to begin at 9am and since the program is starting by 10 we will just join them immediately we arrive at our destination. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, we took off after an hour, many things are just so messed up, African time is trending and if you decide to adhere strictly to the appointed time, one will probably regret it. I finished dressing up since it's quarter to 9, I can't believe I had to wait for a whole one hour for the bus to arrive. I almost gave up because I hated that kind of situation. Amazingly, when we arrived at the venue, many were still coming in because the program have not even started. We had to register first before entering into the venue of the program. We waited for another one hour before they started the program. Things are just so messed up. But I guess many people are used to this so called "Africa Time" when a scheduled program will take longer than expected before the commencement. The theme of the program is "A day Governor" Many church representatives were present from all over the state. Many talks and speeches were made on Agriculture and Education especially. Part of the program was a competitions across all the local governments invited. The competition are in two stages. I was among the representative among the first stage. Where questions were asked and we will answer. After that stage, another one was made where three candidates were chosen to talk on the the theme of the program. The question they are to talk on is "If you the governor of Kwara State for a day, what would you do. (I really don't know how the candidates were chosen because about 200 candidates were present for each local government and there are three local government present for the program) When it's time to announce the winner and present gifts. The three candidates that were chosen for these debate were given prices according to their positions. Laptops, Home theatres and plasma television. A plot of land was included to the first position's price. For our stage, we were given prices also but something funny happened 😂😂😂 While calling our names to come forward for prices, I came out last due to where I was sitting and I couldn't get a price. Yes! I mean they miscalculated the number of prices they brought and one single price was left out and that's mine. I was embarrassed for a little moment because I wished I never came out at first. Eventually, I was given a cash price instead because that's the only alternative they have at that moment. The program was educated and entertaining. Foods, snacks and cash gifts was given to everyone present for the event, nobody left empty handed, we collected the whole three packages meant for each individual. I met a childhood friend. She could hardly recognize me because it's already over 10 years we have seen each other. She was so excited to see me and we exchanged our contacts. It's really a rare day because I don't recall attending a huge event like this for the past five months I have been at home. Thank you for reading ♥️♥️♥️ Lead Image Source: Unsplash.
