My thoughts on Valentine's
February 13, 2022
It's the day before Valentine's.
There are two ways to read the first line. For those who are in a relationship that line will be read with an exclamation point. You will feel the excitement in their voice and you will see the sparkle in their eyes as they read it out loud. And for the ones who are not in a relationship you will hear them read it just like any sentence with the normal voice. No excitement, no sparkle in their eyes just a normal sentence that doesn't need to have emotions.
I wonder how you will read it and if you are wondering how will I read it I'll still read it like the ones who are in a relationship. Not that I'm in a relationship right now but if you have a business and you can earn something because of the season, you'll get excited too because it means that you'll have extra earnings because of the occasion.
I think most of the occasions are invented by the business owners. Why? So they can always sell something, they can always produce something new that people will buy. Just like during Valentine there are a lot of items that you can buy nowadays to give to your love. Aside from the chocolate boxes and flowers, there is a lot of new stuff that you can find in the market.
There are bouquets of roses made of chocolate, there are bouquets of flowers made of paper bills (i prefer this one over a bouquet of chocolates or roses LOL). There are cakes that are filled with money inside. There are hearts balloon in different colors. And there is a lot more merchandise that you'll find out there. You can even treat your loved one to a staycation or on an out-of-town trip.
See, there are so many things to do and there are so many things that you can buy for this occasion. And who is benefiting on this occasion? The business owners!
Life was simpler back then, a box of chocolate or a bouquet of roses is enough all ready to make your girl smile the whole day unlike nowadays that you have to treat her to a nice restaurant or treat her to a nice staycation. People became so idealistic nowadays that roses or chocolates are not enough anymore.
And that is the product of social media.
We want something that we can post at the end of the day and not just something, We want something that can make other people say WOW! We want something that people will envy us for having experienced such as a grand staycation or having a romantic dinner at a cozy restaurant not thinking if they are spending too much or not as long as they can brag about it on their social media account.
Think about it. Do we really have to spend so much on this occasion? Do we really have to go big just to show our loved ones how much we love them?
For me? In a relationship or not I still appreciate things that cannot be bought. I still prefer to celebrate valentine's every day and not just for one day. I still prefer to be greeted first thing in the morning with a simple I love you. I still prefer to enjoy mornings with coffee while talking to the person I love. I still prefer receiving written love letters.
Expressing your love for someone every day in your own simple way is a lot better than spending too much during valentines day. Making your loved one feel extra special every time you've got a chance is sweeter than going grand in just one day.
You don't need to spend too much just to make your loved one feel special just because it's valentines day.
Express your love every day and make each day a valentines day.
What do you think? Isn't it better than going big in just one day?
