"If you don't believe in miracles, perhaps you've forgotten you are one."
This is a quote I just read the other day and it reminded me of the song lyrics from one of The Newboys' songs, "Miracles", that goes like this:
"That our own existence is the miracle before our eyes."
But the first question to answer is,
Do you believe in miracles?
I have to be honest, sometimes I lose my Faith, and Hope when I feel so down, and when I feel like God has abandoned me already. Being bombarded with a lot of problems make me question if God is still there with me on my journey.
Sometimes, I encounter too many trials, and disappointments, and bad thoughts have already consumed the best of me.
Sometimes, I feel like I am worthless and useless that I don't deserve any kind of love from anyone, not even the love I get from Him. I am not a perfect person. I make a lot of mistakes. I also do things that are considered sins. Well, we all are sinners. But knowing that what we are doing is wrong, isn't it that our conscience and guilt keep us awake at night?
However, even if we know that we don't deserve anything from Him, we still ask for His guidance in everything we do. No matter how we feel about life, we still hold unto our Faith and Hope even if we feel like losing them sometimes.
We still ask for miracles. We still ask Him to remove all of our problems in an instant. We still ask for answers to our questions. Even though we don't directly get a response from Him, we still talk to Him.
But why My Miracles From Heaven?
One of my favorite Christian films is the movie "Miracles From Heaven". This is my "go-to" movie every time I feel like all of the things I have mentioned above. I have watched this movie so many times already, but every time I watch it, it still feels like the first time and I still feel goosebumps and I get to cry buckets.
A little trivia:
"Miracles from Heaven" is based on the incredible true story of the Beam family. When Christy (Jennifer Garner) discovers her 10-year-old daughter Anna (Kylie Rogers) has a rare, incurable disease, she becomes a ferocious advocate for her daughterโs healing as she searches for a solution. After Anna has a freak accident, an extraordinary miracle unfolds in the wake of her dramatic rescue that leaves medical specialists mystified, her family restored and their community inspired."
This movie always inspires me and gives me hope and I just can't help but also look back and reminisce all of the good things and great miracles that happened to me in my 22 years of living.
My First Miracle From Heaven:
My mother used to tell me a story about how sickly I was when I was still a baby. As a newborn baby, I didn't know anything about miracles. But now that I am old and have knowledge about things like this, I can say that the first miracle that ever happened to me was surviving an illness even if I was just a baby.
My mother used to tell me about how ill I was back then. My eyes are rolling and my mouth is having bubbles because of a high fever. My mother didn't know what to do when I was a baby so she had to call our pastoral workers to come over to our house to have a short pray over. My mother did not bring me to the hospital, because we were so poor that we couldn't afford it. Thus, my parents were only holding unto their Faith in God.
Up to this day, I still get sick, but never have I tried to be admitted to the hospital. We are only depending on the prayer warriors from the church we are attending to. I am only depending on my Faith that God is the best doctor and Jesus Heals. And it works. Indeed, miracles happen from God.
My Second Miracle From Heaven:
It was Sunday back then, I was in Grade 10 when we attended the Sunday service in our church, which was also our Church Anniversary. When we were about to go home and my father started the motorcycle and began driving it, a fast-moving van was about to hit us, because my father didn't see it coming that fast. Some of my church mates shouted at us, so I had to look back and I saw a van that was fast approaching, only about 2 meters away from us. I didn't know what to do back then, so I had to run as fast as I could to get back to the other line and my father drove the motor so it won't be hit by the vehicle. I thought I was about to die. And I know it's a miracle from God.
I also experienced another motorcycle accident with my brother and his girlfriend before. My brother was driving too fast even if the road was too sharp so he lose the break and we ended up in a road accident. And we were almost hit by a bus because we were on the wrong side of the road. We even had some small injuries because of it. Back then, I thought we were given our second life.
Miracles indeed happen every day. The moment you open your eyes in the morning, it is already a miracle and a blessing from God.
This is my favorite quote from the movie that Cristy Beam said on her testimony at the last part of the film:
"Miracles are everywhere. Miracles are goodness. Miracles are love. Miracles are God, and God is forgiveness. Miracles are God's way of letting us know He is here."
Sometimes I still wonder, what did I do to deserve all of the blessings and miracles I am receiving from Up Above. God is just so loving that even though we feel like we don't deserve anything from Him, He still gives us blessings and miracles. Thus, we should also give these blessings and miracles back to Him by sharing them with others.
I really wonder if people don't believe in miracles for real but I guess we all have our differences, but living up to this day is a miracle
