The assassination of a businessman last night.

Just got news from a cousin living at another neighbourhood about a forty years old trader who was murdered at a popular market in the city

From eyewitnesses account, his assailants stormed the area and took him down by a bullet to the chest, then they drove away almost immediately.

Mr George ( not real name) was a big dealer in automobile tyres who hails from the southern part of the country. He is from the igbo tribe of Nigeria whose men are famous for their unrivalled talent in the business world.

As a shrewd businessman, Mr George would most times dismiss his apprentices and remain at his shop till after midnight when the streets were almost deserted. It was around this alone time that the killers hit him. They didn't pick anything from his shop niether did they go away with his money or car.

What went wrong?!

Perhaps, a fishy business with another trader that failed to be resolved on a round table after several attempts.

Someone told me that he had been recently arrested and released by the police after selling tyres to some suspicious men. Could this be connected to the assassination?

Maybe it was a setup

Maybe he had friends who became jealous when he started doing better than them.

We know that people could start a similar business at thesame time but the success of businesses definitely varies from one man to another. While some enterprenuers put extra efforts to grow and nurture a business to maturity. Others close to him might start hatching a plan to bring him down even though it would involve taking his life in order to pave way for their own business to thrive with little competition.

Apologies if I may sound so rough, but this is not uncommon in my parts of the world. We have even seen cases where a man's death is planned by his relatives so that they would inherit his property when he's no more.

Or Could it be as a result of a dangerous game with a more dangerous competitor?

'You can't do nothing.... Who are you?... I dare you... Go to hell....."

I have heard this kind of lines several times in the movies and in real life arguments when two people are in a heated argument. Then after sometime, someone gets seriously hurt immediately or later in the future.

Never boast to a fellow human that he can't harm you!

Humans are capable of doing anything!

Even though you appear to be richer, influential or stronger, never belittle or underestimate any person, especially when they have shown an open hatred towards you.

No matter what the case might be, it's always wise to make peace or reach a compromise.

You also have to be very careful about who you offend. Some people don't believe in God, even though they appear to be associated with a particular religion.

Hell, they prefer to take matters into their hand and administer Justice when they feel cheated rather then crying to the police or court.

They'd never forgive, talkmore of forget. No matter how long it takes, they would never rest until they quench their thirst for vengeance.

We pray the killers of Mr George be brought to book soon.
