I Got Jabbed For The Third Time.
Yesterday, we got rushed to the mall to get our booster shot of Pfizer vaccine against the Covid-19 virus. Madam was the first one who got jabbed by a booster shot last Monday. She is a health-conscious person so she was excited about it. This month is the 6th month after she got her second dose. She often went out for meetings and site inspections. She is a 72-year old woman so she worries about her safety, that's why she went to the vaccination site immediately to get jabbed with a booster shot.
She can't stop talking about what she felt afterward the next day. From the first dose until now, she never felt any adverse effects on her but this time she said that she was incredibly hungry at 2:30 am, 12 hours after she got jabbed though she had eaten a lot at dinner. She asks her eldest son about it, who is a nurse overseas, and he said that hunger is also an adverse effect of getting a booster shot. She can't stop laughing about it while talking about her experience. She even said that if only hunger is the adverse effect on her, then it's a good adverse effect.
After broadcasting her experience to the whole household and the whole company, she immediately sent her son to the mall to get some connections to the front-liners there. It was always their tactics so we can go there straight without an appointment and if possible, we don't have to line up there for hours. Her son found a way that we can get jabbed even though we are walk-ins. It's not even that hard for him to find a way since the vaccination site was really accepting walk-ins.
We weren't notified about the schedule earlier before. We just received her message at about 10 am yesterday, saying that we have to prepare ourselves, our vaccination card, alcohol, ballpen, and our ID. She even said that we have to finish preparing in about 10 minutes because her driver had already set off to fetch us and her driver will not wait for us anymore. I'm still eating my breakfast at that time, so I have to leave half of my plate behind to prepare faster. With that rush of preparation, my colleague who is already about to reach her retirement age forgot almost all of the things needed to get jabbed. She forgot her ID, her cellphone, and her glasses. We are already halfway there when she told us, so it's already a hassle to go back.
We are brainstorming some ideas that we can come up with which we can use as a valid reason to the front-liners so she can still get a booster shot. They even said that I should just tell them that this woman is my grandmother and she has a condition called dementia, that's why she always tends to forget things. When we arrived there, Madam's son was waiting for us then he took care of her when he knows her situation. He was the one who pleads the front-liners to jab her, and they agreed.
On our side, we line up there for 4 hours before getting jabbed. Since we started lining up there at 11 am and I haven't finished my breakfast before leaving, I feel a little dizzy because I don't manage to eat anything there for lunch. The paper that we should fill up our information just added more headache, the font size is so small that it hurts to read. I got a worse headache until the next day because of that.
The funny part of my vaccination experience here was when I'm in front of the doctor who will inject me. The setting of the chairs is placed where you will get jabbed on the left arm. I turned it around so I can sit while showing my right arm. The doctor is curious why I wanted it reversely. I just said jokingly that my right arm has more muscles than the left arm and I'm afraid that the injection will hit my bones if it's the left arm. They just laugh at me and strongly suggest that I should fatten up. The jab was done in seconds and I just return the chair to its original setting in favor for them who deals with my craziness back there. The truth is, I'm slightly traumatized getting jab at my left arm back then, that's why. It hurts every time I got jabbed on the left arm, so I never allowed it to get the jab on my left arm if I have a choice.
At 2:24 pm, I rest at the recovery area for 15 minutes. We are being observed if adverse effects will show up. If not, we can go home afterwards. Since a lot of people said that they experienced having a fever, headache, being lethargic though they didn't work, and some have allergies, I was nervous there for a moment. I was just hoping that neither of it will happen to me. Well, thank God I haven't experienced any side effects until the next day. I'm totally fine as if nothing happened and I was able to work normally.
Since my first and second dose, I never experienced any side effects. Our company doctor said that it just depends in the immune system of your body if it can strongly resist the adverse effects. A lot of us didn't experienced any adverse effects including Madam. There's just that one company driver who got a fever yesterday but after taking one paracetamol, he was fine today.
Today is vaccination day at the company. All workers don't need to go to work so they can get jabbed by a booster shot. Madam also included their families with them to take the chance to get jabbed, including the 2 Security Guards because their agency didn't care to schedule them for vaccination. Overall, there are almost 50 people who got a booster shot which is arranged by Madam including Madam's families. Though they haven't got to work today, they are still paid. That's how generous our CEO is, just don't instigate her to get angry.
How about you? Are you vaccinated already?
