When you ask for something, humble yourself. You are just asking, you don't own what they have.

Wouldn't it be nice if they receive something when it comes from the bottom of the heart of the giver? With no hard feelings, no guilty conscience, and wholeheartedly just given away without any sense of attachment. This cousin of mine doesn't have that sense of embarrassment. I'll get straight to the topic because I'm pissed with her. She just ruined my day so early in the morning.

For the past few months, she has been sending me a message saying if I could lend her some money. I often reply, "Sorry, I am tight on a budget lately. I have more expenses at home."  She would message me every 15 days and she was really messaging me on my payday. But of course, I'm not lying that I'm really tight on budget so I would reply the same to her. Still, she didn't give up, the cycle still goes on until this morning.

But before that, there was this last week. She messaged me again on a different Facebook account. She asked me if I could sponsor a cake for her 18th birthday. So I thought if I could give in to her wishes this time since it's her birthday. On the other side of my mind, I was thinking, "Is it really necessary to have an expensive party in this time of pandemic?"  I, honestly, don't have cash on hand at that time so I said that I should just give her when I send money to my Mom on my payday. She happily agreed with it.

Then this morning, I received a message from her again and she used her mother's Facebook account this time. She said, "Ate, are you going to send the money now?". My eyes widened and my jaw dropped when I read the message. Huh, what? Didn't I tell her that I will give her on my payday?

Then she added, "My birthday is tomorrow and I still don't have a cake. Send it now, Ate."

I was like, "WOOOOOOWWWW! Did she have any money hidden in my wallet? So it's my fault that she doesn't have cake?"  I mean, my mother wouldn't even ask me that way. My Mom would never say that and even my siblings would never say that, though they will be needing it badly. Then there she is telling me to send it now when we already agreed that I will give it on my payday. I was amazed, yet irritated.

I vent out to my other cousin and she told me her darkest secret. My other cousin, let's call her Jade, and that demanding cousin, let's call her Jaden. Their names are closely alike in person, it just has a little alteration. Then Jade sent me all the screenshots of the online seller who talked to her about Jaden. There I have known that Jaden is a scammer. She scammed 3 online sellers and they all have talked to Jade about her saying they will file a complaint about Jaden. She has actually a subpoena from the neighboring Barangay wherein the online seller is living. Good thing, I have vent out to Jade about it and knew all of that. Then Jade suggested that I shouldn't give her money because she wouldn't be using it for her birthday, she would be using it to pay her debts instead at the online seller where the subpoena comes from.

I have also talked to my Mom about it. Oh well, I just got scolded about it. Lol. My Mom even says that I'm such a gullible person. She irritatedly protested that I should never give her any cents. She demanded that I would just block all her accounts and never entertain her again. Well on my part, since she's my cousin, I just got this blood-tied trust in me which is showing naturally. Now I know, I should be more careful next time because even my relatives can scam me.

I have some other cousins who borrowed money from me also because they lose their jobs when lockdowns are strictly implemented. It's okay for me if they can't still pay me now since they are telling me they still don't have a full schedule and a full wage. At least they are honestly pleading with me unlike Jaden who is a well-known scammer now in our place but I still didn't know it.

Be wise in lending money, guys.
