What are the Human rights?
Human rights are the fundamental rights of every person, acquired by birth, inalienable and indivisible, inherent in all human beings, regardless of nationality, residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, skin color, religion, language, or any other status.
Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death.
They apply regardless of where you are from, what you believe or how you choose to live your life.
They can never be taken away, although they can sometimes be restricted – for example if a person breaks the law, or in the interests of national security.
These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and independence.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
These values of human rights are defined and protected by law.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948. as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.
Article 1 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights says:
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
You can read more on official website of United Nations.
How do human rights help you?
Human rights are relevant to all of us, not just those who face repression or mistreatment.
They protect you in many areas of your day-to-day life, including:
your right to live
your right to freedom
your right to have and express your own opinions
your right to an education
your right to health care
your right to a private and family life
your right not to be mistreated or wrongly punished by the state or other person
your right not to be victim of various crimes
much more...
Although human rights are guaranteed by law, we often find many cases of human rights violations and disrespect. This happens in both developed and less developed countries. Everyone's basic human rights can be endangered, and the most common victims are women, children, ethnic and racial minorities, people of non-heterosexual orientation, the poor, people from poor countries.
Disregard and violations of human rights is a huge injustice that happens both locally and globally. Human lives, human freedom, dignity, and equality are violated.
This is an injustice and a crime that must not happen. That is why I stand for equality and respect for every human being on planet earth.
