Finally, he is going home!
Its been 7 months since Anthony, my husband has been separated with us. His usual contract last every 6 and a half month. Originally he should be home on the 3rd week of January, but last October for some reasons which I already shared in my articles before his contract ended early. He was supposed to be home by that time, but their company changed their decision on the last minute and give most of the crew a new ship assignment. He was transferred to a ship where his brother was on board too. His new contract should be ended by May but on the last week of January, he requested for an early sign off and it was granted.
You may wonder why he refuse to extend his contract, there's so many reasons about it. Number one, working overseas most specially in their line of work causes a lot of stress and pressures. He is working in a cruise ship by the way, where you really have to take a lot of effort to please your guests. Who says you can't please everyone? In that kind of work you have to exert all your effort to be at your best. After every cruise your guests will give you a ratings and if it is not good, your salary will be affected as well as your evaluation at the end of every contract. On the other hand, if your guests like your service for the rest of their stay, they will definitely give you a high rating and a big amount of tip. Unfortunately not all guests are kind. There were so many times that my husband received complaints from guests but at the end of day no matter how right you think you are doing, customers can never be wrong and they will be always right.
The second reason why he wants to go home is that he wants to be with me I guess. Kidding aside, of course homesickness is the second reason. Even though he is working overseas for more than 13 years he missed us every now and then. I know a lot of OFW can attest to this. The only reason they stay longer because they want to earn more so that when they goes home they'll have enough money to spend. So does my husband had enough money to spend that's why he is eager to go home? Of course not, I think the money he earns for the last month would just be enough for his stay until he comes back.
One more reason he wants to be back home is our upcoming celebrations. This month our eldest is going 12 and yes my valentine's day isn't cold. It's gonna be hotter when we are together. Espegee! Okay moving on, next month is our 10th year anniversary too, so it's cool to celebrate it together. We rarely celebrate it because of his complicated schedule at work, so most of the time the celebration would just a video call with different timezone. It was actually my wish before that hopefully we can be together on our 10th year and it will be granted. Hurray!
Last but not the least, Anthony is looking forward to celebrate his Christmas this year with us. Usually they will be given a two to three months vacation, assuming that he will be back at work by April or May this year, then his contract may ends before Christmas celebration. Hopefully covid virus should stop mutating because our plans might not prosper.
According to his flight details he'll arrive on Thursday at 6:10 am and all of us are super excited for pasalubong I mean my husband presence of course. We'll fetch him on the airport, hopefully this time we won't be at the wrong terminal. π
Thank you guys for dropping by and spending your precious time to read my article for today. God bless us all.
