Making Doughnuts with the Kids
I was so excited when my husband bought this waffle maker. He got this from Lidl's. It's not for me but the kids. I think it's a good thing that they can make their doughnuts/waffles at home instead of buying them. It will surely be fun!
So we had an unboxing going on. Basically, I let them do everything when we start and I just tell them what to do.
Good, this is 3-in-1 (parang kape lang!) with 3 interchangeable plates so we can make doughnuts which is what we are looking forward to making.
Jigz is going to the leisure centre but helps Tia out first before leaving and told her sister to save some doughnuts for him.
He changes the waffle plates to the doughnuts. And I started telling them the ingredients.
These are the basic ingredients that we use:
Flour
Egg
Milk
Vanilla Extract
Sugar
Baking Powder
Vegetable Oil
And just sugar + cinnamon powder for coating. I didn't put too much sugar on the batter.
There's an instruction book and makes it easier for us to make it. Next time I will try different recipe. Maybe Google can help me out.
Jigz started measuring the flour. I used the self raising flour.
While Tia started cracking the eggs and whisking them. She likes doing this and I can proudly say that she can cook eggs now. But I watch her when doing so in case she got burned.
Then putting all the ingredients together. Those are the eggs, vanilla extract, sugar and milk. Then sift the flour to the mixture and I added baking powder.
When the batter is ready Tia started brushing melted butter to the plates so it won't be sticking. Jigz is already gone as his friends ring him. So it's just me and Tia continuing the doughnut making.
Tia tried her best to put the batter on the plates evenly. I wasn't able to take picture but I have to help her as the batter is quite thick for her to mix. She started making her sugar coating with cinnamon powder. She said it's like making churros. That's the last thing that we've made.
And lol that's my Japan-Japan wee girl!
She's always camera ready.
And this is our first batch. It's only small doughnuts. And very cute!
And there's the chef ready to coat. Happy yarn! Look at that smile. 😁
How about wacky?
And what's the verdict, Tia?
It's a thumbs up for her! And lol don't forget to save some for Kuya. She said she will cook more!
And that's Tia and Jigz's doughnut. Next time it will be more artistic and with a different coating. Tia wants some chocolate icing with a sprinkle and Jigz-like jam doughnuts. I love custard-flavoured ones.
Do you have a waffle or doughnut recipe that's kid-friendly? My children would love to try them! 😊
Awww, so adorable! that was a nice bonding too :D
