Depression is a silent killer....!!
Depression is a disorder that many people suffer from, but don't talk about. They often feel ashamed to share their struggles with others and are afraid of being judged or ostracized. The first step in overcoming depression is to open up and share your experiences with someone you trust. This can be a family member, friend, counselor or doctor.
Here is an example of a friend of mine who got divorced from her husband a year ago. She later remarried and the one she married was her former acquaintance and very responsible as a husband.
Shortly after my friend's wedding, she told me on the phone that she was not happy with her current husband. I was very surprised because as far as I know her current husband is a very good man and responsible so there is no reason to be unhappy. Even then I asked her: Why, what is the problem? She told me: No problem, but I'm not happy. Now she does not know why she is not happy. Only she said: There is no way she can find peace in her new marriage. So is she suffering from depression here? Maybe the answer is yes, she is suffering from depression.
Maybe her past still haunts her. That's why I tried to comfort her in many ways and told her to accept the present life and move forward because past is past. There is no point in ruining the present by dragging the past.
Maybe my support saved her from a lot of depression but there are many who do not get this support because they do not share their grief with anyone and end up inside.
