Having problems to stop thinking is quite annoying. This mental noise that constantly accompanies people makes it difficult to find inner tranquility. And if the problem persists for a long time, it affects the connection with oneself.

We live in a world that is becoming more and more revolutionized. Stress levels are so high that most diseases are the result of the perpetual negative charge that our mind projects on our body. We speak, for example, of anxiety, worry, fear, loneliness, depression, anger, sadness, etc. that create a state of confusion and internal conflict that we usually live unconsciously, but that does not stop us from suffering its consequences. At no time were we created to live like this and yet, the Human Being, (with some exceptions), lives enslaved by his mind and completely ignoring this very fact which eternalizes slavery and limitation and prevents us from accessing the potential that we truly possess.

All those thoughts that produce anxiety and diminish self-esteem are known as mental noise. Chances are that everyone at some point in the night or even in the day, has had too many thoughts in the mind. Whether they are worries, repetitive scenes of situations or thoughts that produce enormous anxiety. This happens because the mind lives immersed in a constant chattering with itself. Our attention is permanently scattered, rarely present and calm. It jumps from thought to thought, from history to history. It tirelessly thinks about the past and the future. It thinks it remembers what happened yesterday, it submits it to judgment and analysis, and it projects and ideas a tomorrow, and between the past and the future it ignores the Present, which is the only place where life is really happening.

Throughout our life experiences we "learned" about ourselves and our environment. This information was recorded in the form of good-bad ideas, behavioral patterns, judgments and values, beliefs, etc. For example, information about how the environment we live in works and guidelines for living together with others. But another large part of this information creates a whole system of beliefs that operates unconsciously and has unimaginably limited our way of experiencing life. We interpret and make decisions according to the filters of our belief system, of our mental structures, and consequently we suffer stress, anxiety, anger, etc. That is where all that mental noise comes from.

The practice of internal dialogue can be beneficial for certain things, but if this dialogue is not stopped it could be detrimental, and that is why it is necessary to learn to silence mental noise. Some experts even consider thoughts to be the voices of other people. An inner voice could be the echo of all the teachings from parents, as well as learned messages, as if they were social norms. It is well known that the mind is a wonderful tool, with the ability to define each of the steps that will lead to a goal and to make reflections about the previous ones. It is also responsible, among a variety of other functions, for the procedures of understanding, creativity, learning, reasoning, attitude, behavior and perception.

It probably happens that this mental noise is focused on gratitude, curiosity, faith or even enthusiasm. Such an attitude leads to the development of thoughts that are lighter, full of joy, that provoke peace and generate confidence. To free ourselves from the root cause of the problem and to be able to experience peace, happiness, harmony and love, it is necessary to create distance from the thoughts that make up our belief system. That is, to dis-identify ourselves from them by consciously discovering that which can observe them attentively, consciously, present and still.
