While waiting for our flight, I had delicious poached chicken rice at Hometown Hainan Coffee. This is also their signature Hainanese Chicken Rice. Very fragrant seasoned rice and juicy chicken. It came with some cabbage abd cucumbers too, at the bottom of the chicken meat. Simple soy sauce and sesame oil covering the chicken, but super aromatic. Super love to eat this with their ginger paste and chilli sauce. Yums!
Woke up to different room and different place. Totally!!! It feels sooo good to be home. To be with my parents. It is a luxury when you are separated with your parents. I am separated with them by the sea. A long day yesterday but totally worth it to get here. Yayyyy!!! The boys are so happy exploring new place. Sesame Streets....🙂 Can't believe this show is still popular till today, I don't know how but he stumbled upon Sesame Street on YouTube and suddenly got interested with the characters. He asked me which one I love the most. ELMO!!! Also Ernie and Bert!!! Haha. He found some Sesame Street softtoys and he loves them. Want to guess which characters he loves the most? #childhood #toys
My all-time-favourite when I was young. And the shop is still open till now. Popular fried sotong snack at Sibu, during peak hours, people will queue very long outside the Aunt's house. It is their signature batter used to fried the squid. Very well-seasoned and crunchy and flavourful. Super nice when eat with chilli sauce. Yums!
Now that I am at Sibu, suddenly I recall the Sibu Kampua I recently ate at a shop from a coffee shop at Kuala Lumpur. The sta stated 'Original From Sibu'. I ordered a bowl of soy sauce kampua which is basically Sibu noodle with pork lard oil and soy sauce, with char siew and onions. It was a rainy day again at my hometown so my mum and I went out to pack food for the rest while both of us ate there. Many shops were closed because today it is their public holiday. We ended up at Sg. Antu hawker center although many stalls were closed too. Left only this shop which sells Laksa Sarawak. Not the best but good enough to fill up the tummy. Nonetheless, really give thanks for food on the table considering all food prices increase now.
One thing I admire at this small town Sibu, is that there are huge houses everywhere. Not only that, I super adore this huge beautiful church. The design is nice and spacious compound too. A rare sight at Kuala Lumpur. Also, I love love the the sight of different races' togetherness, Malay and Chinese can always open their food stalls next to each other. Just some discovery at this small town.
Luncheon meat cracker cake for lunch today. This is all of our favourite, once taught by my mother's friend then we all fell in love with this dish (provided you like luncheon meat). Very easy to do also. Just need a can of luncheon meat, 6 eggs, one can evaporated milk, 27 pieces of cracker biscuits. After being advised by my mum to get my long hair cut, finally I agreed. Was actually thinking to keep my hair till waist. But I changed my mind...because getting a haircut and a proper wash + head massage here at hometown was freaking cheap. Cut 2 inches shorter and the hairdresser helped me set my hair to temporary curls too. I still prefer my straight hair although my son did say I look like Barbie Doll in wavy hair. Lol... 😂
We are at the largest market in Malaysia, called Sibu Central Market. Super huge. 18,000 square metre building, with 6 floors. Extremely a lot of stalls at ground floor selling vegetables and fruits, meat and fish, dried fruit and plants. Second floor is where all the cafeteria is and clothes, shoes and bag. I literally WOW-ed.
After park, we needed to buy school shoes for eldest son. It was raining too, so we headed back to a mall. It's been awhile we visited Nando's, so let's NANDO's. My youngest son and I were not hungry so we shared a mushroom soup and garlic bread. Simple and yummy! =)
We had super delicious sumptuous meal last Saturday at our Aunt's place. Especially the star dish of the day because she said she just learned from TV show to debone the chicken and cut into smaller pieces, also to marinade the chicken in fridge for one hour before pan fry them till the skin turned brown. Recently, my youngest son fell in love with Sesame Street. He didn't know about it until he stumbled upon a video of a character called Kermit the frog on its song 'Rainbow Connection'. Not sure how and why, he just suddenly loves Kermit so much. This was his coloring on Kermit and he added rainbow around it. Fascinating!=)
Today only I found out Kermit, the green frog is part of Disney the Muppets, not of Sesame Street. Oh dear, I thought it was always part of Sesame Street because I watched Kermit with Sesame Street characters. Haha. Two nights ago, we brought our youngest to colourful pediatric ER because he wasn't well for 3days and did not urinate too. Doctor did a blood test on him, so we needed to wait for hours for the result. Thank God there wasn't any serious dehydration as well as no infection. Last Sunday, my mother-in-law was at our house because she overnighted here to take care of my eldest since we were bringing our youngest to hospital. Another yummy delicious meal by my aunt, although she said she didn't cook alot because by the time she reached market, all vegetables were gone. I guess people trying to buy more to stock up before price hike on July. She cooked braised potatoes with pork slices, stewed boneless chicken and stir fry cauliflower with French beans. When at my hometown Sibu, we dined at a restaurant called Civic Cafe and it was a superb dinner. Parents ordered for us sizzling tofu, pork belly salted fish stir fry, mixed vegetables and fried pork with salted egg. All the food were properly cooked, you could taste the enough-wok-hei in all the dishes. Haha. I miss Sibu food. :)
Catching up with relatives at a famous Penang Char Kuey Teow (CKT) place here at Kuala Lumpur. The owner himself is from Penang so his CKT is really delicious with enough 'wok-hei', meaning enough superb flavour from hot wok stir frying. Haha.
