From time immemorial, when prehistoric people began to live in caves, there was a need to close the entrance to their habitat with something.

So someone once for the first time pulled something in front of the entrance to the cave and the first door was created.

Like any invention, from the initial idea, the door has evolved over time and to this day continues to improve.

Doors can be:

  • Entrance door

  • Room door

  • Garage door

  • Bathroom door

  • Armored door

  • Waterproof door

  • Fireproof door

Today's doors can be made of a lot of different materials. Some of them are :

  • Wood

  • Plywood

  • Lesonite

  • Combination of plywood and cardboard

  • Combination of wood and glass

  • Plastic

  • Combination of plastic and glass

  • Metal

    and so on....

In order for something to be called a door today, it is assumed that they have it:

  • Hinges, to which they are attached to the frame and thanks to which they move

  • Door knob

  • Lock with key hole

Other things that can be found at the door are

  • Spy hole

  • Door bell

  • Knocker

  • Mail whole

  • Pet Whole

Armored door

In addition to the fact that there are quite ordinary doors, which we most often encounter in everyday life, there are also doors that are special. Such doors serve to protect buildings and premises that are exposed to a high risk of unwanted entry by uninvited persons. Such doors are called armored doors. In addition to the fact that such doors are made of special reinforced materials, in order to fulfill their task, they must also have special locks that are difficult to break. Such doors are used in facilities where people who may be targeted live, such as politicians, pop stars, famous athletes, actors, the rich and many other people who do not feel safe.

Armored doors can also be found in bank safes, facilities that are protected by additional security measures, such as expensive shops, museums. They also protect facilities of special importance that may be attacked by terrorists, such as power plants, water mains, nuclear and military installations.

Waterproof door

Doors like this are most often found in our bathrooms, but they are of great importance on some buildings where the exposure to moisture is very high.

Fireproof door

In some facilities, the existence of such doors is a legal obligation. The doors of these characteristics serve to enable safe evacuation in the event of an accident by isolating the area where the fire broke out. They can most often be found in office buildings that are large and employ a large number of people, as well as in industries where the risk of fire is high.

Živim u kući sa prizemljem i dva kata s time da supruga i ja živimo na drugom katu, nikada se ne zaključavaju vrata stanova, nego samo ulazna vrata u kuću i to uglavnom prije spavanja.

The first records of this barrier between the exterior and interior of our home date back to the time of the ancient Egyptians. This is evidenced by the paintings in their tombs. The ancient Egyptians believed that the door was literally a passage to the afterlife and therefore attached special importance to it.

The shapes of the first door were force simple. It was a simple wooden plow on the hinges. In Egypt, where the air is extremely dry, this was possible, but in places with a humid climate, such a shape of the door was not appropriate, as the wood would bend due to moisture.

The ancient Greeks and Romans made single-leaf, even double-leaf or triple-leaf and sliding doors. The most commonly used materials for making doors were wood and stone, and the remains of bronze doors were also found.

In Europe, the oldest wooden entrance door was found by archaeologists in Switzerland. It is estimated to be about 5,000 years old.

Doors are the part of your home that makes a first impression on your guests. If they are also high-quality and anti-burglary, they also take care of home security and thermal and sound insulation.

I somehow feel more secure in the apartment since instead of the usual wooden door we have this door with more keys. They give me security. Although our building is quite quiet, and the front door of the building is locked, again nowadays there are many burglaries in apartments and houses.
