Touch It, It's Hard

Thaddeus Brood was occupied with his mind as he was sitting on a tree while he was looking down the dark lands of the kingdom. It smells like death and the air was cold and eerie. He looked around, up and then down, to make sure that no one was lurking around the vicinity. He had that creepy grin on his face and he was smirking at himself.

When he was certain that there was no one in his vicinity and no one could interrupt him, he hurriedly pulled out what has been hiding in his pants the whole time.

"Aaahhh." he let out a soft moan as he started to rub its head. It was hard, and it was firm. It even twitched a bit when he hit the place between the head and the neck of its shaft.

He grinned eerily as he continued stroking his pet.

It was a Crypt Beetle that he caught earlier that day. He decided to keep it as a pet because it was a rare kind of beetle. It was the sturdiest beetle there is. It has the ability to harden itself and reduce damage from any attacker.

He jumped down off the tree but he wasn't able to balance himself fully and he fell to the lake under it. His legs cramped and he couldn't swim back to the surface. He struggle to breathe, he struggled a lot, but he lost consciousness soon enough.

When he opened his eyes, he was laying in the mud and someone was looking down at him. He thought that he looked familiar. He blinked twice and realized that he was looking at his own face.

"Hey, handsome. Wakey wakey." the guy said.

"Who are you?" Thaddeus said.

"Fool. You stumbled upon a parallel universe. And I am you from this world." he replied.

"What?!" Thaddeus exclaimed.

"There's no time to explain, I shall kill you to get the space-time continuum into balance.

He slammed his staff directly into Thaddeus' head and into the ground. Luckily, Thaddeus was able to dodge the blow and he was able to stand up.

"I don't know what's happening, but if it's a battle you want, a battle you shall get."

Thaddeus pulled out the Crypt Beetle from his pocket and positioned itself in front.

As mentioned before, it was the sturdiest beetle of all the existing beetles. It prides itself on its ability Shield which reduces damage dealt by enemy attackers.

The next monster Thaddeus summoned was a real tank. It's his most faithful servant, the Cursed Windeku.

The Cursed Windeku is a good tandem with the Beetle because together they make a fierce and firm wall of tanks.

The next monster is the Riftwing.

The Riftwing completes the triple threat with tanks. While the Crypt Beetle keeps the first attackers of the enemy at bay, the Riftwing tries to scavenge HP from the spirits around and it charges its HP to an optimal level so it can be the tank when the Windeku falls.

The Death Elemental poses at the fourth line and augments the attack with ranged magic.

While the triple threat of tanks led by the Crypt Beetle protects the battlefront, the Death Elemental starts the offensive with its magic-type attacks.

In the fifth row, the Silent Sha VI isn't really quiet.

Sneaking behind enemy lines, the Silent Sha VI deals damage to the opponents. Just like the Crypt Beetle in front, it confuses and messes up the plans of the opposing team.

In the backline, there lies a Shadowy Presence that looms eerily around.

Fortifying even further the triple tank formation in front led by the Crypt Beetle, the Shadowy Presence serves as a humble tank placed in the back. Its sole purpose is to shield and protect the attackers in the middle by taking the blow from the attackers that have the ability to sneak behind.

The field was set and it's go time.

The fight was even from the start and they were identical in powers. But the fortified defense of Thaddeus Brood proved to be an effective tactic even against himself.

The Thaddeus from the other dimension focused on the offensive which wasn't effective against the 4-tank combo led by the Crypt Beetle.

My tactic worked like a charm because the defense of the lineup was impeccable. Given the same situation, I think that I wouldn't change a thing. I learned from the previous battle that using the Riftwing as the backline doesn't really do anything.

I like how the Crypt Beetle can be a decoy and can be used to build around a little fortress like this one.
