"I killed him. I killed him. I killed him." He said the same words over and over again while he was crouched on the corner of his solitary room rocking back and forth. At a glance, it was evident that the guy was in shock and had just experienced a pretty traumatic situation. His eyes were wide as the ocean and they were just lost. He certainly looked like an empty shell of a human being.
Why was he like that? The story of his apparent insanity goes back to two lonely nights ago.
"Jeff! Jeff! Come down here!" his father John repeatedly shouted from the first floor of their house to his room. He reluctantly came down while glaring at his angry father.
"What the hell do you think you're doing causing troubles like that? Look at you! You're old enough son, you can't be like this forever, you need to think about yourself, your future!"
Jeff then sharply turned around and said "I will be thinking about myself, jerk." he went upstairs and grabbed his backpack. He stuffed some clothes in it and quickly got back down again.
"Where do you think you're going?" his dad angrily said as he tried to pull him back from his shoulder.
Jeff fought it off and shoved his daddy back causing the man to stumble. He hit the table and down on the floor, he went. Visibly shaken up, John stood up and went after his son. "Jeff! Come back here. Son! Jeff!"
Jeff just continued walking angrily without even looking back.
John went inside and cleaned up the result of the scuffle. He then collapsed onto the couch and immersed himself with a book. He waited for Jeff to come back while trying to contact him on his phone. After several hours, he could not take the wait anymore and went out to find Jeff.
He went to every place where he thought Jeff would go. He went to bars, to clubs, places that he does not belong to just to look for his son. But he was not getting any luck. Although it was really late in the night he continued the search for his son.
It was around 4 in the morning when Jeff was awakened by his phone. He spent the night with the girl he met at the bar and slept cozily and happily with her while his father was out and about in the middle of the night. The number was unknown and he answered it. "Hello."
He hurriedly dressed up and even left his backpack behind and went to where he was instructed by the call.
The cab he was riding was just barely stopping when he got out and run inside the building. They stopped at a hospital and he ran in a panic towards the reception. He was then pointed to a room and quickly tried to get there. When he was in front of the room, he was just in time to witness the doctor calling it in and his father's face was covered by a white cloth.
The police were explaining to him what happened but he was just too occupied thinking about his daddy's face lying dead on that hospital bed.
According to the police, his dad was found in an alleyway behind a bar and he seemed fast asleep but he was not wakened up no matter how the people tried to wake him up so they called an ambulance. When he got into the hospital he expired.
Jeff implored the police to find the guy who killed his father and the police assured him that they will do whatever they can to pursue the case.
The wait, the agony, everything was just making him worry more and more. It all seemed to aggregate the guilt he was feeling. In his mind, in his heart, he knows that he was the reason for his father's death, and in a way, he was the only one to blame for his death. He knows that his dad might be out because he was just looking for him because of all the messages and the phone calls he did not answer.
He was anxiously back at their house and every corner of it reminds him of his father. He walked around trying to feel the presence that he used to know but it was gone, the air was not the same, and he could n to do anything but cry. He grabbed a bottle of scotch that they used to share and drank from it. He ended up drinking most of it and a day away.
He was woken up in misery by the police searching through his house. He relayed to them the argument they had the day before his father died and he was invited down to the precinct for questioning.
After several hours of waiting in agony, the detective in charge of the case went inside the room and Jeff was very much confused about everything since the next thing he remembers were cuffs on his hands and his rights were being read in front of him.
"You are under arrest for killing your own father, John Mathers".
He was dumbfounded, shocked, surprised, and all the sudden emotions came down to him. He offered his hands to be cuffed and he was booked and processed.
He knew that he was guilty, but not like that. Not literally. His jaws fell almost to the ground and he bawled out his eyes when he heard the whole story and the result of the autopsy. After crying so much, he laughed and then laughed some more, hysterically. And with that, he snapped.
Du---duuun!
I don't know what that greeting sounded like but I was trying to imitate that sound from Law and Order. I can see from your face that you did not get it and now questioning yourself what in the fresh hell you are doing on a page like this. It's alright, everything will make sense on the next one. I promise.
