A Yes is a No, Is it Not?
Author's Note:
For some of you who have read my previous article: A Yes is a No , I thank you so very much but I think that you are now confused about it. Maybe you are thinking "was that it? " "What the f did I just read" or something along those lines.
Let me tell you now that, yes, you have read that story right and nope, that's not all of it. This is to clear all your doubts and confusion. And I would just like to throw it out there, I was not drunk when I wrote that. I was not drunk when I hit that publish button too.
So to just do a quick recap let me just summarize that already short story, but if you would prefer to experience the mystery and confusion, kindly click the link above and read the story for yourself.
Recap:
A married lady finds her life to be turning into unchartered territory when one night she decided to go out and have a few drinks to blow off some steam. She went out planning to have a casual and innocent night but she found herself unable to fend off advances from another man. She could not say NO to him even though she knows in her mind that she doesn't want anything to do with him.
She was unable to reject anything he'd ask and they ended up doing it in the back of his car even though she really does not want it. It's not that she was forced or coerced, she inexplicably said yes to him many times even though her mind and hey guts are saying No.
When she was walking home distraught and guilty of all the things she had done, another guy who appeared to be homeless called out to her looking for a good time, and again, she could not reject him but instead, she said yes.
After another deed, she collapsed on the road and was not able to move. It might be because she's exhausted but mostly, she just gave up and let go. She felt lost and in shambles. She crumbled like a piece of paper under the rain as she wept and cried against the cold asphalt.
Some passersby called an ambulance and she picked up and then carried to the nearest hospital. She passed out on the way and the tests were done to her because of the bleeding on her head that was caused by her fall on the ground.
Her husband was called in and he arrived at the hospital after about 3 hours. She was sobbing in front of him as she was recalling the events that unfolded throughout the miserable night. He was standing in front of her but he could not bring himself to hold her as she was suffering from guilt and embarrassment. He was there but it was obvious that just like his mind, he would like to be someplace else.
He was angry, he was devastated and he felt betrayed. But at the same time, his heart is crying with his wife. He felt sorry and he pitied her. He didn't know what emotion to process.
The doctor came in with her test results.
They were not particularly anxious for the results since they were not expecting any complications nor any further diagnosis of the lady. They were just both silent and wanted the night to be over and done.
The doctor read the results and told them that she has a tumor in her brain that was affecting her judgment and coordination. He told them that she might do or might have done things that she didn't even wish. He added that it would be impossible for her to deny, disagree, or reject any proposal or persuasion.
The tensed atmosphere in the room eased up a bit and both of their faces regained their natural colors.
"Wait, Doc, are you saying that she could have had said or done things even though her brain is telling her not to?
"Uhm, basically, yes..."
"You mean to say that she could have said yes even though she does not want to?"
"That's possible, yes."
The couple looked at each other and hugged each other with big smiles on their faces. They were evidently elated and excited about the news the doctor gave.
The doctor was so confused about what's happening and tried to read the results again. Satisfied that he told them the right diagnosis, he interrupted their warm embrace.
"Do you understand what I am saying? This is bad news. You'll need to undergo surgery as soon as possible."
"Yes." they both said in unison.
The doctor walked out of the room to prep for the surgery while shaking his head in disbelief. It was his first time to see someone react so happily to bad news. What a weird day.
Hey there!
Now we can finally agree, the story is complete. I hope that it made sense for you this time and I hope that you have read through it without being so bored out of your wits.
This particular bit is inspired by an episode of The Good Doctor. I'm currently hooked with that show so a lot of medical drama going on.
However you react to the story, I would like to thank you for taking time off your busy schedule and paying some attention to this story of mine. I do hope that you liked it though.
Thank you so much and until we read again...
Cheers!!!
