A bit nonchalant, a bit crazy - Crested tit (Lophophanes cristatus)
Titmouse as a species is quite popular bird. There are several species in my country, including the great tit, the blue tit and the gray tit, which can often be found even in cities.
What appearance is such a character
Crested tit is a species found in Poland much less frequently. When you look at it, you get the impression that it is a slightly crazy bird, with the wind in its feathers, a troublemaker - this is what adds to its charm. It looks very different from the popular tit because it does not have this colored plumage, but it does have one beautiful feature. It is a feather tip on top of the head. The female and the male look the same.
Titmouse's body length does not exceed 12 cm. Most of the body does not stand out in color, it is gray-brown gray-white. Only the top of the head makes the bird distinctive.

Wat Phra Kaew or Temple of the Emerald Buddha - my journey through Asia
Wat Phra Kaew
Wat Phra Kaew It is the largest temple in Thailand and its official name is Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram. It houses the so-called Emerald Buddha. The statue, 66 cm in size, is located in the historic center of Bangkok in the Grand Palace.
Emerald Buddha
The statue owes its beautiful greenish-emerald color to the material from which it was made. And it is Jadeite. It was carved with great precision from one piece of this precious stone. It can be different colors, such as white, pink, purple or yellow.

Fairy Inkcap (Coprinellus disseminatus - Czernidłak gromadny) uncollected edible mushrooms in spring
This delicate, beautiful mushroom is a very frequent visitor in our forests. You can already meet him in early spring. And although it is edible and grows in large groups, it is not popular with mushroom pickers. This is mainly due to the size. Its hat can reach 5 to a maximum of 15 mm in diameter. It is also a very delicate mushroom. Mushroom pickers say it crumbles when touched, and there is some truth to it.
The color of the hat changes with age. First it is yellowish, through yellow-gray, white-gray to gray, and finally blackened at the edge. The fungus grows quickly and has a very short life, so these changes can be observed within up to two days.
The surface of the hat is clearly crimped, pleated, mealy, and the magnification shows distinct hairs. The shape is ovoid at first, then bell-shaped.

Thailand "Wat Rong Khun" in Chiang Rai - Buddhism, abstraction and golden WC - a unique walk around a strange temple
This is one of the most unusual and at the same time extravagant temples that can be found in Thailand. First of all, it is a modern facility, made available to tourists in 1997, and at the same time unfinished and under construction all the time. The work is to be completed in 2070.

Black Shag - do you have nice eyes, who will you give them to?
You can read a lot about the Cormorants. In Poland, it is under protection, although it is a great pest of fish farming ponds. It does not change the fact that this bird is beautiful.
His eyes are the most beautiful, they are emerald green, beautiful green, sometimes turning blue. They sparkle like the sequins on a Hindu goddess's dress. They charm, captivate with their beauty and charm.

Samarkand on the Silk Road - Uzbekistan - Registan
Samarkand is the heart of Uzbekistan, and a place that brings to mind the famous Silk Road. Walking the streets of Samarkand, you can feel the spirit of ancient times, because little has changed in the city itself for hundreds of years. Samarkand is one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back to 1500 BC
Registan
Registan
The jewel in the crown is the wonderful Registan Square - an extremely noble, richly decorated public square from the times of Timur, known in Poland as Tamerlan. Similar places or influenced by Registan can be found in both Iran and India in Agra.
Registan, the main square, is surrounded on three sides by madrassas - schools. On the west side there is **Ulug Bega**, completed in 1420. It is the most recognizable and, in fact, is the hallmark of Samarakanda. It is topped with two minarets. On the eastern side, there is the **Szir Dar madrasah**, which owes its name to the unique decorations on the facade with images of lions. The building was built in 1636. The last building on the north side is the **Tillja Kari madrasah**, the name of which refers to the beautiful intricate golden decorations inside the building.

Black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) with a beak like a mud drill
A bird named Black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) is a less and less numerous breeding bird in Poland. We can meet him in the shallows or backwaters of rivers, wet peat meadows, where he puts his long beak in search of food like a probe into moist soil. Unfortunately, there are few such places in Poland.

Reishi mushroom - even a snail knows about the health properties of this mushroom
This rare mushroom species that can also be found in Europe. It has been used in traditional medicine of the Far East for over 2,000 years. Although, according to many sources, it is considered an inedible mushroom, it has many healing properties. We are talking about the yellowish varnish (Gonderma lacidim), popularly known in Japanese as Reishi. In China, this mushroom is called lingzhi which means herb with spiritual power. In general, the fungus is considered a panacea for all human ailments and diseases.
Although the fungus is rare in nature, over the centuries it has been possible to refine the breeding of this species, although it is very difficult and demanding. Reishi mushroom comes in 6 color varieties: white, yellow, red, blue, purple and black. According to scientific research, the red variety has the best health-promoting properties.

Kandariya - sex drugs & rock and roll?- my journey through India
Like an ordinary temple, not the most magnificent, because there are hundreds of such in India, not the most beautiful, but still phenomenal. Why this particular temple attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world every year? The phenomenon is in the sculptures made of sandstone. About 10% of them show sexual acts, erotic scenes from everyday life.
In the first half of the 19th century, the temple was discovered by the British in the Madayah Pradesh jungle. They described this discovery with a short text "wild licentiousness"
There was no taboo in Tantric Buddhism, even incestuous relationships were accepted. Tantric Sabbaths were heavily sprinkled with alcohol, large amounts of meat were consumed, and debauchery was ubiquitous. Of course, as in sects, all this practice was available only to the initiated.

Green woodpecker - from time to time he will also knock his head against a tree
The repeated opinions about woodpeckers that they only deal with tapping the bark of trees are not entirely true. The green or gray-gray woodpecker obtains its food mainly from the ground. Ants are his delicacy, but he will not disdain small worms or earthworms.
These photos show the learning process of how a young woodpecker is to get food. The parent feeds his baby, but also encourages him to take initiative and develops habits that will enable him to survive in the future.

Once unwanted in the kitchen - today a rare edible mushroom - Cortinarius caperatus (Turek)
I remember the times when this mushroom was called ''Turek'' in my regions and was harvested as a last resort. The baskets were always filled with porcini mushrooms and other tasty mushrooms, and the ''Turek'' was at the very end when nothing could be found in the forest anymore. I did not appreciate this mushroom, but in vinegar it was brilliant, always tasty and crispy crunch. Times have changed. Today it is an increasingly rare species.
I also noticed a certain phenomenon. The longer I live and pick mushrooms, the more I approach picking certain edible species with distrust. My perception is not disturbed, but I have more doubts during mushroom picking. But is knowledge harmful? 😉

Ellora, caves of many cultures and religions - my trip to India
In the previous post about the caves of Eloor, I did not go into details, there are so many of these caves there that describing them in one post is almost a miracle, or it would be very sketchy. Eloora is a group of caves that were developed at different times by different religions.
Due to the complexity of time and religion, the caves have been numbered. There are 34 of them in total. Caves from 13 to 29 are Hindu caves, some of them and the largest I presented in the previous post about caves in Eloora

Mushroom in love with cones - Auriscalpium vulgare (Szyszkolubka kolczasta)
The mushroom is small, not exceeding 20 mm in diameter. The shape of the hat is most often semicircular, kidney-shaped. The color varies from gray to gray-brown and even black. The surface of the hat is roughly hairy. But it is not the color or the shape of the hat that distinguishes this mushroom and makes it unique. This feature is a specific hymenophore in the shape of long tubes.

Very rare arboreal mushrooms - Saffron oysterling (Crepidotus crocophyllus)
This very rare species of mushroom, also known as saffron oyster, was observed in my independent Poland in two regions. The first is the area of the Białowieża Primeval Forest, and the second is near Krakow.
The mushroom is quite picky about the environment in which it grows. Usually it grows singly or in small groups on old tree logs, most often oak, sometimes also on living oak. Conifers are very rarely chosen as a habitat.
Tarangire National Park - out of boredom, people will go on a safari - my travels in Africa - Tanzania
3 months on the island of Zanzibar, sooner or later you want to "go ashore". Zanzibar is an island that can be embraced by tourists in a maximum of 2 weeks. There are many attractions, curiosities, but only for a time.
I was able to live in Zanzibar for 3 months, so it was known that it would eventually carry me somewhere. And it was not far, because it is a moment to cross to the mainland to Tanzania by ferry. Because to be in Tanzania and not be on Safari?
Tarangire National Park covers an area of approximately 2,600 square kilometers. It ranks 6th in Tanzania in terms of multiplicity

Baked Sweet Potatoes with Pork and Vegetable Salad
In my kitchen, we do not avoid exotic dishes, and as we travel a lot, we get to know them outside the home. Today, sweet potatoes, i.e. sweet potatoes, were delivered to my kitchen countertop. Ingrediens
0.5 kg of sweet potatoes (sweet potatoes), potato flour, basil, oregano, olive oil, pork (neck), vegetables: red onion, garlic, tomatoes, green cucumber, red pepper, hot ground pepper.

Barn swallow is a very popular bird in European regions.
It does not make spring, but the mere thought of this beautiful bird will make winter pass faster.

What distinguishes male swallows?

Potato pancakes in different ways with kefir and Ajika
This seemingly simple dish can be prepared in various ways. I am a supporter of spicy, i.e. with pepper, salt, Adżyka and my wife sweet with sugar and cream.
But making good potato pancakes is an art. You have to properly choose the proportions of potato flour, eggs and potatoes themselves, on which a lot depends.
Ingredients
Good quality potatoes, potato flour, eggs, onion, vegetable oil, spices, salt, pepper, possibly hot paprika, sugar, kefir, cream.

Tricholoma equestre - food from the forest
This late autumn mushroom belongs to the controversial species when it comes to its suitability for consumption. Some say that it is edible, others that it is slightly poisonous. Most sources, however, state that it is a tasty edible mushroom.
The problem, however, is its correct diagnosis, because this fungus can be confused with, for example, a poisonous sulfur goose or a deadly greenish toadstool. The latter gives virtually zero chance of survival.
This late autumn mushroom has a yellow-green cap with olive scales or with skinny, fibrinous scales.

Bearded Reedling (Wąsatka), a beautiful bird in extinction
This bird is hard to confuse with another species. The male looks very dignified with his big mustache. Fortunately, the female does not have a mustache. In addition to the characteristic mustache, it also has a long black tail and a gray-blue cap on its head. The male and female are very similar to each other, they are light brown in color, with a black and white pattern on the wings. Bearded Reedling like areas with a lot of reeds, rushes, on the shores of lakes, ponds, rather away from human presence.
The colors of the plumage make the birds blend in perfectly with the surroundings and are practically invisible in the reeds. Birds mate and nest in small colonies.
