Do You Really Hate Math?

What is mathematics?

Science is not all about any biological things or what. According to Elaine J. Homas, mathematics is also a science in a way that the logic of shapes, arrangements, and quantity are being dealt with. Relationships are being quantified, the future becomes possibly predictable, and patterns showing its existence are plausible.

Most of us, which includes me, said we totally hate it. 'Cause why not right? It's nerve-racking! When I was a kid, division was the hardest part that made my childhood difficult. (How about you?) My mother was a strict person when it comes to me and my siblings' studies. She usually didn't let us go play and even sleep if we don't finish our homeworks first or understand the lessons. Since I suck at Math, we always end up stucked in this subject. I really hated it. What's worse was that throughout the years, Mathematics always sticks. Just how far Mathematics can really go?

Ironically, we are all actually living because of it and that we are nothing without its warm embrace. Absolutely nothing. From the simplest thing we do everyday up to the most complicated ones, it never left us and I have realized that we were wrong all along. Mostly may be tough and extremely complex though crushing up our minds to the fullest but, look all around you! We are cloaked by its vivid beauty and wonders!

The moment we open our eyes in the morning as the world continue to rotate every second, algebra already comes into play most especially when we have a work very early and tend to catch up time to avoid being late. Night before, our alarm is already set so we can get ready. If you still don't notice it, realize that we used to calculate the time we needed in taking a bath, choosing the appropriate outfit, fixing ourselves, cooking, eating, the time and distance to our workplace, as well as the money needed to make it there.

See? How amazing right? Aside from that, statistics and probability can analyze and estimate how ideas are spread like in business or mortality rates throughout the world during saddening earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and many more. By simply calculating the timing, size, and location of these natural hazards, we can predict their behavior with the help of their patterns. Therefore, professionals can help us sort out and do the right things needed when they happen to still stay alive in the end. In this time of pandemic, Statistics is a great help for us to know wether the number of COVID-19 patients have decreased or not in order to be aware what actions are necessary, as well as the efficiency of the vaccines.

Trigonometry, on the other hand, is a huge boon everyday for engineers in constructing an efficient large or small buildings, roads, and bridges while computing a standard time of day enables the astronomers. Finding all sorts of heights, distances, and direction is not that easy as well as computing the latitude, longitude, and course at sea. Even the nature we truly love has patterns you may never know. These patterns are also evident in daily living, and even in the universe which include fractals, spirals, and symmetry. Point out some of these in your surroundings and see you on my next article.

That's it! Mathematics is extremely important that mentioning all the examples would take days as there are tons. What I've tackled are forms of Mathematics working together to preserve humanity. So, did you understand that you don't exactly hate mathematics in every way though? You love it and you need it as much as it needs you.

Well I really hate math even now haha (i hate fraction when I was in elementary and hate algebra in general) but entering Engineering field, I had the chance to appreciate it more.

It is a very nice way of looking at things, but going back to your initial question, I did not like mathematics, but I was very good at it, to the point that I went to the Olympics

Mathematics seems to be interesting when our basics and foundation of concept pertaining to mathematics is established well, if not you'll be found math subject hard.

Hehe😂. I don't like Mathematics at all. It's one of the subjects I disliked most when I was in Secondary School. The subject is very hard and I don't even like it. Due to that, I went to art class instead of science class. I had to run away from calculation.
