Who among you guys are parents in here? Based on your experiences. The Modular Learning is okay? or not?
Based on my first experienced it's never been easy especially for a parent like me who has Three kids. Two Elementary Students and one Grade 9 Student.
As if you're going crazy in answering many modules. It's not just a simple ABC but there is writing an essay too and answering based on your own opinion. Solving Math Problems too showing it's solutions. And I'm not good at Math.
So you must have to use your brain. And as we all know kids can't answer it on their own. We, as parents need to guide them. And it's very exhausting in the brain.
We are in an era of New Normal now. So we need to adapt in able to survive.
By the way, do you know what is Modular Learning?
Modular Distance Learning
It is a Self Learning Modules(SLMs) which involves individualized instructions.
It's given in print or digital format.
Kids will answer the Modules in their homes.
There is a given schedule on when to get the Modules and when to return it for checking.
21 years old and below are not allowed to enter the school.
Parents or Guardians are only allowed to get the Modules.
Every day there is a given schedule on what subject to answer.
Some parents choose online classes. But still, many parents choose The Modular Distance Learning including me because we don't have a wifi and it's very expensive to always buy a load.
There are no expenses in choosing Modular Learning System. It only requires patience and dedication.
We need to have patience in guiding our children on how to answer. Let's accept the fact that some parents have little patience especially when their children are very lazy to write.
I admit that I will be very angry if my kids suddenly became lazy and won't write anymore. Parents are not allowed to answer the kid's Module.
They will be given a zero score. So thinking about it why I should stress myself?
I think of a way in how to solve the laziness of these kids. I tell them if they will be able to finish answering their Modules that are scheduled for today.
I will give them a surprise and will reward their efforts. I bought them ice cream.
Let's reward ourself too. Eat ice cream to cool off and energized our mind.
And from then on they felt motivated and excited in answering the Modules. But we can't avoid it if they will felt tired. I just let them relaxed and will continue to answer if they are not tired anymore.
But these past few days news of the suicide cases for children is very alarming. The most trending topic and post on FB is the suicide of some of the young students.
And the reason why they commit suicide? It's because of Modular Distance Learning.
It breaks my heart seeing the news. How come many young students today died. We protected them from the virus and yet they died because of The Modular Distance Learning.
Based on my knowledge the first suicide victim is a 21-year-old male college student from Bohol.
It was said in the news that the victim went to school to pass his Modules but it was not accepted as the Modules was late. And their Internet has a slow signal that he was not able to complete for compliance.
When he went home he destroyed his cellphone and their wifi and he is crying.
Morning came they knock on the victim's door but nobody answered and it's too late that they found out that the victim is already dead.
The second suicide victim is a young girl student from Alcoy Cebu. The cause of her suicide is Depression.
Before she died she even shared a post of the first victim suicide news saying "her brain cannot accept it anymore, it's very difficult." She is Depressed. And it's so sad to hear about it.
The Third suicide victim is 11 years old Elementary Student. She died on October 12, 2020. And it was said the reason is the Modules.
Her sister was very sad posting on FB asking why she commits suicide. If it's very difficult for her why she did not ask for help. The sister was full of sadness and regret. She is very young it's so heartbreaking.
The Fourth suicide victim is a 13-year-old Grade 8 Student from Toledo, Cebu. She died on October 14, 2020.
The mother said to the Police that her daughter is complaining that she is very tired of answering the Modules.
And threatened to commit suicide as it is very difficult for her to answer her Modules.
They never thought that she will commit suicide for real and it was too late to find out. Now she is dead.
Hopefully that there will be no more suicide victims anymore.
A message to our dear parents:
Please check your kids from time to time. Ask them if they are okay? Are they already tired? Help them in answering their Modules.
Don't ever scold them as this Modular Distance Learning is still new to them even to us.
They need to adjust and adapt to how this System works. Let's extend our patience and guide our children. Encourage them not to lose hope. That we are always here to help them no matter what.
Don't pressure their mind as their brains are already pressured from answering their Modules.
Instead, show them that you care. Show them that they are loved.
Let us show our support and let them feel that they are not alone that we parents are just right here.
Ready to help and guide.
A message to our Dear Students:
To our dear Students, Please don't hesitate to ask for help if you think you can't endure it anymore.
If you're losing hope and felt depressed. We parents are just right here and are always ready to help.
Please don't bottle your feelings. Find someone to talk to. If you don't have parents anymore, talk to your siblings or your grandparents and relatives.
Life is precious. You are precious and Important.
