How are you my lodi read friends?
I can't believe it's almost the weekend and October is almost over. It was just only yesterday that I had this painful experience, time does fly so fast. The world is telling us that there are things we cannot control and we should do our best to those that we can. It made me think "little" of myself, what a humbling reality.
A year ago, I joined a blogging platform called Kiki.com before. The payout needed to be at least $75 and the only way to increase the earning was through the "fires" given by fellow kikiers. It was a nice community but there were only a few Filipino writers so I wasn't really happy. And before I went on hiatus to give birth, the website was already on the rocks. I am sad that I lost $24 after a few weeks of hard work. But while I was with Kiki, I discovered read and didn't really take it seriously until Rusty gave me $34 which I discovered a year after I gave birth. It reached $100. And I realized, this platform isn't a joke. It was another humbling experience because we badly needed the money and there it was, waiting for me to claim it.
Despite many challenges, I feel blessed that am still in read and my experiences here humbled me in many ways:
I do sometimes think highly of myself (though I am not showing it to everyone), but meeting my fellow writers here was a humbling experience. I realized the shoes that I need to fill in and that I had to level up so I can be at par with them. I thought I was already creative being a writer from elementary to college but I am definitely on an amateur level. Each writer here has a different technique of expressing himself artistically. I need a writing workshop because everyone here is just amazing. I wanna be amazing too!
I never thought that I would meet generous folks here. The tips that everyone has been giving to each other are just overwhelming. Who am I to not pay it forward? I want to be in this supportive community for a longer time. I would love to lend a hand to those who are new and struggling. I am slowly giving back in my own little ways and I will give more once I am able. I want to be a blessing to others as well!
The friendships that I found here are just astounding. I really am happy every time I log in and it excites me to read the adventures of my friends. They have a great impact on my life as read is the only platform where I am socially active. I am grateful that I encounter aspiring writers from different parts of the globe. I am an introvert so being here and just being with myself, being accepted as what I am, and being considered a friend is a blessing that I will be forever grateful for. People here are not judgemental and that makes me comfortable to express my craft.
I am just happy, thankful, grateful, my read friends because I am here. I am humbled. I'm just, really, thankful.
I got to go, my kid is going to have her practice walking again. It's an exciting activity to witness!
