Pride does not pay the bills!
I remember that news on the TV when a girl, a college graduate, who was working as a merchandising officer got criticized. I love how she gracefully answered her critiques "Pride does not pay the bills!".
I admire her strength and will to provide for her family. The pride doesn't feed hungry stomachs nor provide warmth on chilling bodies.
Millions of people lost their jobs since the pandemic started, there are a few who are lucky enough to have remained employed, got new jobs, opened their businesses, etc. While the rest suffer.
This pandemic is a test of faith and character. It exposed us to our nightmares: on how far we can withstand this crisis.
Where do you belong, my friend? Are you the one who still doesn't wanna find a job because you got your PhD or MA and you don't want to earn less than what you're expecting because of your titles or you would do anything to keep your family and self afloat? Does it hurt when you're wiping tables and chairs or you're not bothered when your child is sick and you don't have a single penny to buy medicine?
Would you rather pass the responsibility of taking care of your kids to your family and relatives than do it yourself?
Does pride pay the bills?
So if you're struggling with how you can earn during the pandemic, THINK!
What are your skills and talents?
-Are you multi-lingual, or do you know how to program, teach, write a blog, etc. Do you know how to fix a phone, make a piece of furniture, cook?
What can you do that you could use to earn an income?
What resources do you have?
-Do you have wifi or gadget that you can use to find an online job?
If you can't start a business, why not help someone you know that owns one?
-Are you good with handling customers either by phone or email. Or you're good with talking to people in general?
If you can't work full-time, how about part-time? If not, how about gigs?
-Forget your excuses, as long as you can generate an income it doesn't matter how much you want to work. If you like being idle and lazy, you better not eat.
Do you have properties you can sell or that can be rented or leased?
-How about a car? Can you drive and offer your service to other people? Of course, you got to make sure you are following strict health protocols.
Do you know someone who can help you land a job? Like, refer you?
-The wider your social network, the better. Now isn't the time to be shy or be arrogant. If you need help, you ask for help. Forget your doctorate or master's degree, they can't be eaten.
You gotta help yourself. Money won't come down from the sky for you. You will be provided as long as you find the means to have it. Don't just stand there, staring at the space, and be hopeless. Even beggars earn, why can't you?
Your due date won't be merciful nor the collection agencies that will bother your sleeping or nap time. Get up your butt, find a job or start working because your pride doesn't and won't pay your bills!
And I hope you like my article for today, my friends. I salute you for doing your best so you could provide for your family. It doesn't matter how small you earn, or what kind of job you have, as long as it's a dignified job. Be proud, many are praying to be in your position right now. And if it's kind of difficult, you got this, my friend. You can do it.
