Always Think Before You Blog

In the world of blogging and content, especially online, we all need to think before we say something, write something — anything — or do something. Everyone's a critic these days and it's so easy to get sucked into “judging” everything that comes out on the Internet. I have this stance when it comes to using the Internet: if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

But how often do we actually do this? How often are we so quick to hit that "publish" button that we don't take a moment to think about how our words will affect others?

Many of us have found ourselves in a position where we've said the wrong thing, written something that we wish we could take back, or posted something on the internet that was maybe not the most… sensitive?

When it comes to the Internet, there are no boundaries. Everything is out in the open and very public. It's easy to be cruel and say things you wouldn't normally say in person. I always make sure I'm not causing harm before saying something, even if it means not saying anything at all.

I think it's important for everyone to use caution when engaging with others online. Not only should we be careful about what we share on our own channels, but also be careful about how we interact with others' channels too.

The world would be a better place if everyone thought about what they were going to say or do before putting it out into the world. What do you think?

This is what I like to call being a good human being or a good person in general. If you don't find value in something, it's okay just not to say anything about it. Or if you have nothing positive or constructive to say about someone's work or creation, don't waste your time or their time by putting negative energy out there.

I believe that it would be extremely beneficial for everyone if we all took this approach. We would all be better people for it and the world would be a better place for it as well. It takes less energy to be kind than to be rude or mean.

I am a firm believer in the notion that everyone's life is hard and that we should be kind to one another. When I'm online, I try (and often fail) to keep this in mind. I also believe that how you choose to conduct yourself online reflects how you conduct yourself in real life. I know my own integrity has suffered because of things I've said and done online. And probably because of things I haven't said! There are times when I really want to respond to something that makes me angry but instead, I take a deep breath and let it go. We all know those people who always have something negative or critical to say about everyone and everything on the Internet. We call them trolls for a reason! They're not happy unless they're tearing folks down or making fun of someone else's work or opinions.

In Conclusion

We can't go back and erase what's already happened.

These days, it's easy to get caught up in the moment and say something we wish we hadn't. But one thing that's harder is to make a conscious effort to pause and reflect on what we're sharing with our readers.

This is because once we post an article or essay on our blog or website, it’s there for good. You can't delete your words from the Internet. It lives on forever.

The truth is, if you want to be successful as a blogger or content creator, you'll have to learn how to become a better thinker. You'll have to learn how to not only think for yourself but for others as well.

The Internet is a powerful tool and it can be used for good or evil. It all depends on your intentions, how you go about things and your mindset when using the Internet (or any social media platform).

The Internet is just like real life: you should treat others how you want to be treated. We all have an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life with every single thing we put out into the world. Let's make a difference in people's lives by being kind, encouraging and uplifting one another!

So before you hit "Publish" next time, take a minute to consider: Does this piece make sense? Is it informative? Are there any typos? Do I really want to publish this right now?

Foarte frumos!M-a facut sa gandesc mai profund si sa imi dau seama ca anonimatul are si partile lui bune! Felicitări pentru articol si sper sa urmeze si alte articole la fel de bune!

Nice, at first, I wasn't planning on commenting; not because I had "nothing nice" to say, but because I had "nothing at all" to say. But then I realized that if I don't intereact you won't know what I had in mind.

You can take my situation( being not able to say anything at first) as a "Hats off" compliment. Good Work. Looking forward to your writings.

Hey there, thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you decided to comment, even though you weren't planning to. It's awesome to know that you considered not commenting (which is totally fine, by the way) but then changed your mind and did it anyway.

I love to hear just what goes through people's minds when they're reading something I've written. You're right, it's really helpful for me to know what people are thinking—and sometimes that can be difficult because we don't always think about the work other people do as a reflection of ourselves. But maybe sometimes it should be?

Thank you again for your kind words!

This is the reason why I love the anonymity this blog site offers... And I'm basically enjoying such, that's why I don't mind so much of the things I write... Though, it's already embedded (tact and manners), I really don't mind exploring something different and out of the box. But the risk of being spammed too is there.

Hi there! I absolutely love that you feel free to express yourself here. I think we all need a place where we can just be ourselves, and this one is mine. But I also understand that some people may find the anonymity of the internet to be a little scary, especially if they're not used to it.

I agree that sometimes you can seem "out of the box" online when compared to real life, because you don't have to worry about things like body language or facial expression. It's easier to seem more casual, or even sarcastic or mean-spirited, than it would be in a face-to-face conversation.

But when we have the freedom to explore what we mean in writing, and not worry about how it comes off as much, we can learn so much about ourselves. We can try out different ideas, and see what feels right for us—without risking offending anyone else. And I think that's kind of cool!

But importantly, we have to set limits still...

I agree, though there is an edit button to edit everything on our blog. That is why we have draft we need to review before we enter our blog in the online world. Words can cut someone and that cuts past for long.

Absolutely, there's always a temptation to go back and change our words. But I think you're right—once we put something out into the world, it's not ours anymore. It's up to other people to interpret, respond, and make it their own.

I'm a writer who is constantly tempted to edit my own work, but once I hit the publish button all I can do is hope that other people will get something out of it. It's true that we can edit our words before they reach the public eye, but I think it's important to remember that we can't always do that in real life—and so many of us don't have the skills or emotional intelligence to say what we mean in a way that doesn't hurt others.

I also think it's important to note that we should be practicing being kind online as well as in real life, even if there isn't an "edit" button. Kindness is something we all want, and it shouldn't be something that only gets practiced when it's easy (or, in the case of online writing, when there's an option to edit).
