Previously on https://read.cash/@eLdavis/when-jesus-sang-part-one-28612a04 we talk about a very rare and wonderful event which was the one time it was mentioned, "Jesus sang "
What hymn did Christ actually sing?
Many writers and scholars has agreed that it was Psalm 118. For over two thousand years till date the Jews have concluded each passover by singing Psalm 118, if you go through that chapter you we find it appropriate for that particular situation.
Psalm 42:8New International Version
8 By day the Lord directs his love,(A)
at night(B) his song(C) is with me
a prayer to the God of my life
When Did Christ Sing?
It was after the solemn passover service and the supper, and just before the events the garden and Calvary. All through the life and times of Jesus on earth, even in all His Gospels and parable, Chirst singing was never mentioned until now. Perhaps Him doing so at this particular moment was so peculiar and also a perfect lesson for us to learn. His last note was a cheerful note, though He knew what was in the future. He still sang with His disciples even when He knew they would forsake Him on the cross, He sang cheerfully to the Father even when He knew the people He healed, prayed for, fed and even studied the word together would be the ones to shout crucify Him. What does that teach you?
Let us learn to keep our friends from sorrow, and also keep ourself from it as well for as long as we can. Even in the face of difficulties sing to your father, even when you are very much aware of the things to come and they are not in your favour, sing to the lord. Instead of worring over it, if we can do as Christ did, our Heavenly Father would give us the grace and courage to overcome.
When Will Christ Sing Again?
Surely we would love to hear our Saviour sing again, and it would be great. When He comes again, Christ we lead a great number of the redeemed whom no man can number, in songs of praise.
After Christ and the disciples had sang these hymns they were all filled with joy, their spirits were elevated. But Christ gave a warning word to them
" All of you shall be offended because of me this night, But i we not forsake you, i we go before you into Galilee"
But the disciples with their little understanding did not believe these words and felt lost after the crucifixion of Jesus.
More wisdom.
