Does read.cash still work in Nigeria? After some times of trying to get tips when the site was still new to no avail, Nigerians left the site as it seems we've been sidelined. I'm back to only check if read.cash still pays Nigerians or we should still stay off the site. Please leave comments and suggestions.

A story: my new area v I open door see say na Eli. . .mtcheew I hissed, wetin happen I asked, she say she dey bored and she wan come gist with me. For my mind I say so na me Sabi gist and dat other guy sabi do the do. Anyway come inside, na film I wan watch. She came inside and lay down on my bed and I begin dey play game of thrones. Even though the series don try, e get why I play that movie. Innocent aspiring Reverend father like me. Things happen sha, I get some accesses and I was denied some. Make una no ask too much questions but one thing is sure now, Eli no go too hard for me but no be she be my target. Na Zainab. Next day I return Suleiman sound system, come still box am five hundred naira, at all at all na him bad pass. On my way back home, I met AY with one babe like dat, the babe no even fine sef, I just greet dem dey go na so h call me say I no say hi to him babe. Dis babe wey her mouth long like shrew so? Na for my mind I ask the question o, I reach there give the girl hand, na so this babe wan dey form over familiarity, if only she knows my thoughts towards her. Papa Benji you must to kill me today, I no go gree again. . .na the shout wey I dey hear from the other compound as I dey near house be that. Make I branch go look make dem no come tell me story. Na so I branch see mama Benji hold papa Benji trouser, him sef hold her blouse. I no be bad person but I know say this fight go sweet to watch before I know fight don start, compound people don come separate, me sef form good boy say make I go separate, from no where, whether na blow abi na stick, I no even know but wetin happen be say I hear something land for my head na so I blank out. I sha wake up after sometime see say na chemist I dey, dem sha tell me say I faint. Ah! From separating fight again? If u see the way dem wrap bandage for my head, I say make dem give me my cloth, na so I see say my shirt soak with blood. Me wey no get blood, how this amount of blood take comot from my head. Only me walka dey go house na so area people just dey shout sorry Bros, eiya, thank God say nothing do you o. . .all those kind comments, na there I know say I don truly cast for area. I need a break from this area was what I told myself. I reach house, I no even see my key, na so compound people dey tell me sorry as I sit down outside dey think how I go take spoil my key. Come inside before you figure what to do at least so you can relax, one sweet voice wey I hear dey tell me, na Zainab o, good things do happen sometimes, but make I no too look desperate, I said don't worry, I'll be fine, but she still give me the offer second time, I no wait again o, na so I fall in her crib. To be continued. . .

Knowing when to and when not to. . . So many times I've watched people give up and I feel it's too early and have also watched people persist and I feel why so much. I'm not a saint myself as I've given up sometimes and persisted as well. There are times when these attitudes become so annoying and other times it pays but the never give up attitude is not for all cases. When chasing dreams, trying to make ends meet, trying to build something, I'll say never give up because this attitude alone can attract people to want to know what is really behind the project you are fighting so much for. But before embarking on a project as such, make sure you have a proposal and a blueprint so that you can have something to show for what you are really working for. Giving up in such cases is not an option because perciverance is key to success, fighting to achieve a goal is key to achieving a said goal but still, there are cases where one should just let go. If you have tried it over and over again but it's still not working let go and change a pattern, do it in another way, employ other methods, ask questions, learn and try other means, that way you are not giving up completely. I remembered when I was applying to go to the university, I always wanted to study any course related to medicine but the more I try, admission wasn't coming through. So I changed and applied to study any course related to engineering and same year I was admitted to study mathematics. Sometimes you are going to the wrong direction at the right time, instead try changing the route, you just might hit gold. Another aspect that feels so embarrassing when one doesn't know when to and when not to especially to young males is the aspect of finding love. I've seen a guy being slapped before because he didn't know when not to. He was turned down severally but is still pushing hard, the girl got pissed and dished him a series of slaps. How embarrassing. Sometimes too, we have been shown the green light severally but we fail to understand maybe due to our naivety or because we are shy or because we do not know when to, we end up in the friend zone and it takes only the strong willed to leave that zone. To know when to and when not to is really important, so that we can be balanced in the scale of life. Let's learn to read and understand, know what we want and what we are involving ourselves. Ask questions where we do not understand and also know that what will be is definitely going to be. When going for love, we should also understand that not all the people you want to be with will like to be with you, respect people's responses to your jokes and don't force yourself on anybody.

A ruler and a leader We have almost confused these as the same. Many times we assign the roles of a leader to a ruler and that of a ruler to a leader. A ruler (not the ones used to draw lines) is a person at the helm of affairs of an establishment, an embodiment of power and class, a person of the highest standard in hierarchy. One who gives instructions and organize an institution. He is power personified, same as a leader but in a subtle way. Little difference between a ruler and a leader. A ruler gives instructions to the best of his knowledge, all he wants is perfection, no minding the stress or strain anyone has to go through. All he thinks about is himself and his achievements, forgetting that he didn't do it alone. He never wants advice from anyone and no one cares question his authority as he wants to be seen as the most powerful person. A ruler gives instructions and doesn't take ideas from anyone because he feels threatened and insecure. He pushes his subordinates not minding what they might be going through. All he wants is everything to be done the way he wants and how he wants. He is mostly not loved by all, only few who he makes his spies and pay them for information about his subordinates which he pays handsomely for. A leader on the other hand gives instructions, and ask for ideas from his subordinates, he wants to know of any objections and reasons for the objections. He believes he is still growing and can learn from his subordinates. He does not believe in perfection as he knows everyone is bound to make mistakes. He thinks about growing together with everyone around him, he does not personalize any achievements, he believes in the strength of togetherness. He knows he might be the most powerful person but he doesn't go about wielding his powers. A leader always cares for his subordinates and their feelings, he doesn't push them beyond their limits as he understands rest. A leader is mostly loved by all except for a few who might feel different about him. He doesn't require anyone to spy on anybody as he is open to ideas, advices and criticisms. Power tend to sometimes intoxicate and change people. Though with power comes responsibilities but some tend to forget where they started from and want to rule instead of lead. Lead others to become better people and not rule them in any direction of your choice. The weak looks up to the strong to lead but when the strong decides to rule, the weak becomes weaker and the society becomes imbalance. People are scared to air their opinion as they will feel oppressed by their ruler. We should all learn to be leaders instead of rulers. Let the strong carry the weak along and not drag them along.

Living the dream Are we actually living our dreams? As a toddler, I use to say I'd want to be a doctor when I grow up, treating people and providing cure for some ailments. Same with my peers, while we all chose the lucrative white collar jobs, we wished and worked towards them. Some want to be doctors just like myself, others engineers, pilots architects, lawyers and a lot more. No one dared want to be a policeman because they were hated in the society and no one can afford their parents hearing them aspiring to be a police officer. We all grew up still having those dreams, I'm not so sure of working towards them but along the line we all started on different paths. While I went to read mathematics in school, others read various courses and not actually what we wanted as kids. Back to living the dream, I will not entirely rule out living the childhood dreams but I think the best dream to live is the ones you have as an adult. Be that person you always wanted to be, do that thing you want to do, go for that job that makes you happy and be creative. As I write, one of my childhood friend who always wanted to be an engineer ended up studying physics and is now a policeman, another who wanted to be a doctor, ended up studying engineering and is now working in a bank. We all have different things we want to be but due to fear and pressure from family, friends and society, we end up taking a path we never want and end up living our lives just for the cash but not for what we truly want. A dying old man said what he regretted is not living his dreams. He said he always wanted to play the violin but couldn't learn because people expected much from him, he was forced to be an architect instead. He could not also marry the woman he loved because family and society said she was low class. Imagine living with someone you do not love for the rest of your life. Our parents, relatives, friends and even society most times pressure is in to becoming someone else. We tend to obey and follow but deep down we are not really happy. Oftentimes we wish we were someone else, doing things differently but we feel it's too late to go back to that which we want. Live freely, it's not too late to acquire that degree, learn that skill, join that band, go on that journey, visit those places, learn that instrument. Life won't present a second chance, so try and live the life now, live the dream, be who you want to be and spend time with those you want to, so that on your dying bed, you won't be filled with regrets. Go out there and live the dream, it's never too late.

Friendship Ever wondered what the true meaning of friendship is? I still wonder though because friendship has millions of definitions according to each one's understanding and perspectives. Friendship is a bond, sometimes stronger than blood, a covenant not to let the other down, a promise to always be there, a chance to prove loyalty. . . friendship I'll say cannot be defined. Overtime, we've all made friends some which stayed through thick and thin, some left, some pushed you, others let you down. I remember a friend who was happy if we both failed. Some friends are angels while some. . .'frenemies' I've made friends who have stayed like my brothers, fought for me, laughed with me, cried with me, failed and succeeded with me. I've also lost some friends who I thought would stay forever, some to death others to our different ways of lives and choices we made. Though I never wished to loose any friend but with life, you are bound to come across surprises. If you have a true friend, you can relate to what friendship means, they'll ride with you till the wheels fall of, continue trekking with you until you get old and you will get worn out together. I envy my dad each time he tells me of his friend from his youthful days who is still his friend till date. Some friends will want to see you grow, want to grow with you and will stand no matter the storm. Sometimes you feel you've met a good friend and when the storms of life abound, you realize that you are standing all alone. I once read a story of a friend who went to sell his phone to get drugs for his friend's sick mother. Tell me of such a loyal friend and I'll tell you he's more than a brother. I thought I had friends while growing up, we played together, ate together, bath together and even slept together but now we are adults and everyone seem to busy for the other. We hardly talk as we tend to ignore our calls and chats. I wonder what I'll tell my children when they ask me who I was in those pictures with. Maybe someday, we will all reminisce and remember the good old days, try to reach out to each other but we'll be too far apart and no matter how much we Tru, the bond is already severed. "Twenty kids cannot play together for twenty years", I used to doubt this sentence but now I believe whole heatedly. I truly miss the friends I grew up with but am I sure that they miss me? Keep your friends close, and if they ever want to leave, do not force them to stay because if you do, you might be seen as desperate. Always make sure you check up on them ones in a while, create groups and join in the conversations. To all of my friends, I miss and love you and to those I've lost to death, rest in peace, until we meet again.

Acquiring formal education or learning a skill Learning a skill has become the order of the day as even graduates want to acquire one. Education according to research can be the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school. It can also be an enlightening experience facilitating learning or acquisition of knowledge, values, beliefs and habits. Education can be given in a formal or informal setting and experiences that has a formative effect on the way of ones thoughts, acts or feelings may also be considered. In Nigeria, education begins informally as a child's brain is said to be tabula rasa upon birth to developmental stages. The parents begin by introducing simple commands and instructions to the child to help him develop develop communication and understanding skills. At the age of two, formal education is introduced as most parents register their child(ren) in schools, the kindergarten class to be precise where the child begins to learn formally the communication skills by interacting with other kids of his age, exchanging toys and communicating in their own way. Education in Nigeria can be rigorous, as since the beginning of learning, a child has to spend two years in nursery class, five to six years in primary classes, three years in the junior secondary classes and another three years in senior secondary classes, summing up to thirteen or fourteen years to obtain a senior secondary certificate after which the child proceeds to the university where he spends a minimum of four years and a maximum of nine years depending on the course of study to obtain a university degree after which a compulsory one year of service. The young man or woman starts applying for jobs if he has no connections, he is liable to spend more years unemployed and inexperienced. And on getting a job, (s) he'll be asked of his experience as it really matters to the organization. Acquiring a skill on the other hand is a form of informal education where a child is sometimes not in all cases forced to learn a trade or a skill so as to enable him cater for himself and sometimes his parents and siblings. Learning a trade does not begin as early as the formal education, a child tends to have reached the age of seven before being enrolled to learn a skill. Such skills includes tailoring, carpentry, shoemaking, barbing among others. Sometimes, learning a trade takes up to five years or more depending on the child's ability to understand and learn the tenets of the skill and also the child's level of seriousness, compared to the fourteen years being spent to acquire a senior secondary certificate. Though learning a skill keeps a child it of school which makes the child lack any form of formal education. A university graduate, most times after spending some time at home unable to secure a paying job resolves to learning a trade to help them sustain the hardship and become independent. In my opinion, once a child can aquire the basics of formal education, he should opt to learn a trade.

The Hausa people The Hausas are mostly found in the northern part of Nigeria. They constitute the largest ethnic group in northern Nigeria. The Fulani people also settled amongst the Hausas having also largely adopted the Hausas language and culture. The region are mostly Muslims, with Islam being influential in the region the religion was spread among northern Nigeria from Mali, profoundly becoming an influence to the Hausas belief and customs. A small minority of the Hausas known as 'maguzawa' remained pagans or practiced other religions. Politically, the Hausas society were organized on feuds between houses, villages and families where the strongest house or family becomes rulers which are known as emirs or 'sarki' as popularly called in the Hausas dialect. The emir (sarki) is sorrounded by a large number of office holders who ruled and conquered villages as chiefs from which their agents collect taxes. The records of these transactions are written in Arabic. The Hausa people are mostly farmers who farmed sorghum, maize, millet and other grains, with groundnut as a main source of income which brought about the great groundnut pyramid in Kano, depending on the manure from the Fulani cattle. The Hausas are also good business men as they have arrived to succeed in businesses, they also specialize in crafts such as leather woks, silversmithing, thatching, weaving and also hunting. The Hausas are also famous for long distant travellers. Descents, close kind especially cousins are preferred marriage partners. According to the Islamic law, a man is entitled to four wives, which predominantly makes the Hausa men polygamous, with divorce though regulated by Islamic law is frequent. The food in Hausa land are mostly carbohydrates as they tend to prepare grains in different ways, some of their local foods includes Masa made of rice, danwake, brabusko and numerous others with miyan kuka and miyan taushe as the most preferred soup in the average Hausa man's house. It is believed that not a day goes by and either these soups are prepared. The Hausas though presumed hostile are a very friendly people who are willing to learn and teach so long as whatever an individual does has no effect on their religious and cultural beliefs. A Hausa man can defend his culture and religion as the Sharia law is mostly practiced in northern Nigeria. Though the law applies only if you are from the north and of Hausa descent otherwise, the individual will be tried according to the Nigerian law and constitution. The Hausa educational system was predominantly the almajiri form of education where a child is force to leave his parents in search of Islamic education in distant or neighbouring cities or villages where the teachers of Islamic knowledge are referred to as mallams. Though the Hausa mans love for knowledge and civilization has made them adopt formal education even up to university levels. An average Hausa man, learned or not is politically inclined and business oriented, their love for themselves cannot be over emphasized as they believe they are descents of same ancestry. Learning the Hausa language can be easy as a Hausa man feels more comfortable dialoguing in Hausa language or Arabic than English language and so can teach others to understand their language in order to effect an effectual communication.

A thin line between religion and failure Religion was introduced to Africa by the colonial masters many years ago, prior to the coming of the slave maser, Africans though primitive were thriving well, has an organised system and served their own gods which through belief were the strongest. The white came and introduced Christianity and other foreign religions. These religions came with manuals which they referred to as the holy books. We accepted and respected these religions and gave it our best thereby rendering our gods powerless as there was no one ready to pour libations to the gods. Over time, we became adherent of these religions and has these religions grown? Yes but have we grown as individuals? I'll say yes to an extent but we have allowed religion becloud our judgement and our hardworking abilities as we believe in miracles these days other than hard work. So many times, we believe God will do it instead of us rising and doing it by ourselves, making a mockery of the God we claim to serve. I've watched a lot of times when instead of working hard to achieve a desired purpose, we relax and expect a miracle. Success is attributed to God and failure to the devil. Instead of blaming ourselves for the times we failed to deliver, we find somewhere to hang our failure on. Just recently, i watched a video online where Nigerians in their own country were Praying that God should send angels from heaven to go and change the result of elections in the USA. How can that even be possible? the people have come out in mass to vote who they want as their leader in their country and some people somewhere are praying against the voice of the people forgetting that the voice of the people is the vote of God. Little wonders that Africans are suffering, not going out to vote the right persons and staying back at home believing hat God will elect the right leader for them. The question is, how does God has anything to do with the politics of humans? Africans believe everything comes from God whereas those who brought the religion to us believe in hard work. Science is as a result of extensive research, based on findings, dedication and hard work. Little wonders there has been no scientific discovery in Africa. Though we are perceived as backward but if we can work, strive and diligently follow instructions, we will be able to move forward and over take. Remember the pyramids of Egypt, those wonders were erected without the help of any foreign scientist. Maybe our ancestors have died with the brains and left us with only imaginations. We should not allow religion determine everything about us, even in the holy books, emphasis were made to hard work but we want to find the shortest route, then we rely on miracles, expect favors. Though these things happen sometimes, but we should not wait for them to happen before we succeed. Lets learn to succeed on our own so that when these miracles happen, we can appreciate them more. We must learn to always give and take, work hard to succeed and also live a good life. We must also know that having faith and hope alone is not enough in a world of rigorous activities. Success can only come if hard work meets opportunities, a little prayer can be effective if much work is put in place and God will not just surprise a man who sits idle and do nothing, breakthrough only comes to those who strive to attain excellence. God has not confused man, its man who has confused himself with too many beliefs to enrich himself by not working hard. Africans especially needs to wake up and push, with God in our hearts and deeds but laziness should not be excused with beliefs of miracles. Africa will be great if only we can aspire for greatness and work hard rather than waiting for miracles to happen. Truly its a thin line between religion and failure.
