Matthew 26:30 KJV
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
No man ever spoke like Jesus did, so it is safe to say no man has ever sang like He did as well. Did the angels also listerned like the prisoners listerned to the singing of Paul and Silas? I know i would, what about you?
Christ sang, and the disciples joined in. Most of Christ disciples were known to be fishermen, and fishermen were know for their hearty singings at sea. It would have been great to have heard that hymm sang by Jesus and His disciples. How sweet the combined melody of Christ & His disciples would have been, And even the prayer in John 17 ( an article on John 17 coming soon)
Christ singing shows the reality of how human Christ was on earth. It is said that no one has ever head the god Jupiter sing, that it would be beneath him to do so. But Christ did it, He proved to us that He was truely one of us, He was not just the son of God in human form or a God in human for. He was truely Human. He completely became Human so He could understand our pains, our joys and so He could see things from our point of view, and to redeem us from sin it self. There is no greater love than this.
We like singing songs and hymn, especially in times of affliction, it is belived that even the three youths in the book of Daniel sang when they were in the fiery furnace, it is more unselfish to sing songs and hymns than to pray, because singing expresses our love and gratitude to the father, we nolonger talk about our problems, we nolonger complain about the situation before us, all we do is praise the father.
Christ was on the eve of the most terrifying event ever to take place on earth, the garden and the cross was already before Him, His singing was a means of fortifying Himself. He summons to His every aid the Heavens it self, His eyes were on the father not the cross before Him. He prepared Himself.
Why did Christ sing? As His children what has this taught us?
To be continued....
God forever deserve our praise
