This time I am sharing with you a recipe on how you can increase your collagen levels in your body with food. You probably know that collagen is not only associated with beauty and youth, but has many other important functions in the body.
Collagen is a part of connective tissue and is involved in all body structures. It consists of the heart, lungs, kidneys, arteries, joints, ligaments, cartilage, bones, nails, skin, hair, muscles, liver, intestines, genitals, spleen, brain and many other organs. As we age, collagen production declines rapidly, and this decline, which begins as early as age 25, affects many bodily functions.
Collagen is therefore a very important protein that is found everywhere in the body and without which our body would break down. The formation of collagen in our body can also be accelerated in a natural way, with a thoughtful diet.
Collagen in food
Basis
10 g of edible gelatin
150 ml of yogurt
100 grams of cottage cheese
SWEET VERSION:
Fruit (all but kiwi or pineapple)
Brown sugar or honey
SALT VERSION:
Ground pepper, pickles, olives, turmeric,
Sol
Process
Add two tablespoons of water to the gelatine and heat to 60 ยฐ C. Caution: Gelatin must not boil! Once the mixture is heated, stir until the crumbs of gelatin are completely dissolved. In a bowl, mix the yoghurt and cottage cheese homogeneously, add the warm dissolved gelatin, mix well, then add the toppings (fruit for the sweet version) or salty toppings and place in the fridge for at least two hours. We can prepare a larger quantity and store it in the refrigerator for up to three days.
If, like me, you canโt deal with the right combination of foods to increase collagen levels in your body, hydrolyzed collagen in a liquid is still a great choice for a youthful looking skin, firm nails and shiny hair.
Marine collagen (fish)
Advantages :
Collagen from marine sources is better at boosting total type I collagen in the body and works primarily on the skin, nails, hair and bones.
Collagen from marine sources is up to 150% more efficiently absorbed into our body than bovine or porcine collagen. The reason is that the molecules are smaller and therefore enter the bloodstream easier and faster. It is generally accepted that hydrolyzed collagen molecules in the size of 1000 to 15000 Da can be absorbed into the body, as evidenced by modern techniques such as polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and high-performance liquid chromatography.
Marine collagen peptides have been given the status of nutraceuticals (food that has positive health effects and prevents or even cures diseases) because of their similarity to human collagen.
Weaknesses:
Collagen from marine resources is generally more expensive.
Not suitable for those who are allergic to fish.
Beef collagen
Advantages:
Bovine collagen peptides are often present in dietary supplements, largely due to the abundance of bovine collagen sources.
Because bovine collagen is a rich source of type III collagen and also contains type I collagen (unless it is derived from cartilage - then it is type II), it is suitable for supporting the skin, hair and nails.
When derived from cartilage, it is effective in supporting joints.
Weaknesses:
Fish collagen is still more effective for raising collagen levels in the body
Poorer absorption compared to marine collagen
It should always be obtained from cattle raised on pasture and without additional hormones, which can also have a significant impact on the price of raw materials.
Pork collagen
Advantages:
As with beef sources, the pig source of collagen is cheaper due to the greater availability of raw material sources and is thus present in a wide range of foods and collagen supplements.
Similar to bovine collagen, pig collagen contains mostly type III collagen and some type I collagen, making it also suitable for supporting hair, nails and skin.
Weaknesses:
Fish collagen is still more effective for raising collagen levels in the body.
Poorer absorption compared to marine collagen.
It should be obtained from free-range pork and without additional hormones, which in turn can have a significant impact on the price of the raw material.
Chicken collagen and bovine cartilage collagen - type II collagen
Advantages
:This type of collagen is considered to be most effective in supporting cartilage and joints in the body
Researched primarily in the role of supporting joint mobility and in reducing pain in arthritic conditions.
Weaknesses:
It does not appear to play a role in reducing the visible effects of aging on the skin.
The use of collagen and various dietary supplements with collagen is well researched and continues to be explored due to its increasing use.
Because Collagen shot is positioned on the market as a dietary supplement for the beauty of hair, skin and nails, it (based on previous research) uses collagen of fish origin.
I use gelatin regularly in the kitchen to prepare food, my favorite is when I put it in meat soup and get meat jelly
