Good day fellow food trippers. Been awhile since I made a post here. Posting the food that we had in our little get-together here in our office. Two kids of our office mates celebrated their birthdays and it so happened that we had a meeting here in the office. Everyone pitched in to buy cakes, spaghetti, pancit malabon, spring rolls, ice cream, and pichi-pichi. We also had chocolate drops, sprinkles, and marshmallows for the ice cream that we got. Although, we knew the names of the kids celebrating their birthdays, we had written down the names of their parents (our officemates) as an inside joke. Laundry Day Third day of my rest days and as usual it is laundry day. If it was up to me, I'd stay in bed and rot away. What's up fellow food trippers? Hopefully, everyone's Thursday is doing good so far. Just got off my Brazilian jiu jitsu training and had dinner with our coach and some of my teammates. Took this photo from the video that our teammate made. The place is across our gym and even though we are at the 3rd floor, the aroma of the roasted pork and chicken reaches us and makes us hungry. So we decided to go there to eat after training. We had chicken breast, thigh, and wings plus our coach had some porkchop. Champ For Late Lunch Title says it all. Got busy with errands in the morning up to late afternoon. After going to the bank, suddenly felt hungry. Decided to buy a burger. Been eyeing to chomp on some Jollibee Champ burger. The patty is bigger plus it has tomatoes, lettuce, melted cheese, and a special sauce. It hit the right spots. Freddy Krueger Freddy Krueger is a fictional character in the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' film series. He was created by Wes Craven and made his debut in Craven's 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' as the spirit of a child killer who had been burned to death by his victims' parents after evading prison. Can't recall the number of 'Nightmare of Elm Street' films but he is one of those bonafide bad guys. Imagine being unable to sleep or more accurately, not wanting to sleep because Freddy Krueger, will visit you in your nightmare and give you your untimely schedule with death in your most feared way in the most gruesome way possible. Jollibee Funko One of the most iconic fast food mascots for Filipinos from one of the most well-known brands not just here in Manila but around the world. Proper Breakfast Wrote about having a breakfast meal for a midnight snack earlier. Styed up late and got hungry so I decided to go with what is usually breakfast fare. Slept and then when I woke up, I decided to get a proper breakfast. This time around it is orange juice, pancakes, and bacon. The orange juice is just right, not to sweet. Milk Tea Good day food trippers. In my past two posts, I wrote about what I did last Saturday. It included sharing a meal with my colleagues at work to celebrate the birthday of a team mate. This was followed by watching Thor: Love and Thunder in the evening. Our whole team watched the movie and our operations manager joined us. He was kind enough to treat us and buy us milk tea. I'm not a milk tea fan. I think it is just hype and overpriced. I did appreciate the gesture. It isn't common that one's boss joins the team in a night out much less, treat their team. Anyway, here is a photo of the milk tea. It is from Happy Lemon and had 50% sugar. That's all that I remember. It tastes good, not much different from other milk teas that I've tated. Thor: Love and Thunder Last Saturday, I watched Thor: Love and Thunder together with my officemates. It also served as a team building activity for us. We get off our shift at 9:00pm and the movie started at 10:00pm so we had more than enough time to go to the cinema (which is really near our office) and buy food and drinks. Our operations manager joined us as well and he treated us to milk tea. The movie is great and it is more similar to Thor: Ragnarok rather than the first two Thor movies. Not going to post spoilers here but I will say that if you are a GunsNRoses fan, you will enjoy the soundtrack and that there are two post-credit scenes. Saturday Get Together Every Saturday we have a get together at the office. We bring food to share. Last Saturday, we celebrated the birthday of a colleague. I bought a birthday cake and a cake roll. Someone bought pizza. Another one bought chicken. Others chipped in to buy noodles (pancit canton). Others got drinks. It was a great way to build camaraderie within the team. Tapsilog Good day fellow food trippers. Hardly got any sleep last night because I went out and watched Thor: Love and Thunder. Will post about it in a bit. Anyway, wanted to jumpstart my morning so decided to get a typical Pinoy breakfast. Presenting the tapsilog!!! Filipinos know it but for those who are aware, it is tapa (fried beef strips), sinangag (fried rice), and itlog (sunny side up egg). This particular tapsilog has tender beef strips plus the fried rice isn't that salty. Also, the egg was cooked to my preference. Added bonus, was the chopped tomatoes and cucumber. ToyConPH 2022 Yesterday, Friday, during my last rest day for the week, I went to a nearby mall to attend a toy convention. It is the first after two years of the pandemic. There were a lot of people as expected. Although, it was noticeable that there were less number of cosplayers. I did saw a couple of cosplayers - Michael Jackson, Moon Knight, Amazing Spiderman, Spiderman Miles, and SpiderGwen among others. The ToyCon will run until tomorrow Sunday, July 10 and it is held at Mega Trade Hall in SM Megamall. Aside from toys on display, there are also art toys, graphic novels, and comic books for sale. Ramen What's up fellow food trippers? Had a productive and intense Thursday so decided to cap it off with a ramen dinner. It was also raining the whole day so the ramen was perfect. Red Horse Beer Filipinos are well-aware of this beer brand. Considered with one of the 'strongest kick' among local beers. In local parlance, 'sipang kabayo' (kicks like a horse). Wednesday Restday Granted it is already Thursday here in Manila. Spent my Wednesday at home. Did my errands which is buying the groceries and paying utility bills. I went to the grocery after lunch so there were no liens in the check-out counter. Also got some water. Made an egg sandwich spread. That will tide me over until the weekend. It was raining the whole day so I spent it mostly in bed. Days like these are great once in a while to recharge and get ready to hustle again. Good afternoon fellow noisers! Hope everyone is fine this rainy Tuesday afternoon. It is my last day at work before my three rest days. I'm just chilling here at the office. Nothing much to do since we have finished our tasks already. We watched the comedy movie 'The Other Guys' and had sandwiches for snacks. Right now, we are just playing Kinect Sports. Suman and Choco-Yema Spread One of my snacks yesterday, suman and choco-yema spread. Suman is made from sticky rice and coconut milk and usually dipped in sugar. Yema is made with egg yolks, milk, and sugar. It is custard but this time it is chocolate flavored. It is an unlikely combination but it does taste good. I found the choco-yema spread a bit too sweet so I decided to bring it at the office to share with my colleagues. Here's a photo of my snack. Kutsinta For Breakfast It is still my rest day today so decided to try a different breakfast. After having my oatmeal, i had these kutsinta with sweet custard. Kutsinta is a steamed cake made from flour, tapioca flour, and brown sugar. it is soft, chewy and usually topped with grated coconut. It is a delicious breakfast, snack or dessert. Spicy Squid and Lemak Rice Good morning food trippers. Today is my rest day but I had a very early interview at 4:00am. The interview went well. I'm still waiting for the result. Got back home at 5:00am and stayed up a bit untilI fell asleep again. Woke up at 11:00am and I was very hungry. Good thing a friend texted me and said she cooked spicy squid and Lemak rice and will drop it off in my place. We both live in the same condominium complex. I thanked her and within minutes she was already in my front door with the food. The squid has the right amount of spiciness and the meat is tender. The sauce tastes great as well. Tne Lemak rice was cooked right and I can still smell the fragrance of the pandan leaves and the herbs used. I can also taste the coconut milk. It was nice waking up to a home cooked meal. Good day fellow food trippers. Today, we had a get together at work. There was a townhall meeting and everyone in the management team was on site. Staff were also encouraged to go onsite. Of course. when people have a get together like this, food is always available. People bought food. Some cooked as well. I got a strawberry shortcake for everyone. People alos bought different times of pasta and fried noodles. Someone cooked dimsum. Another cooked chicken wings. A team member bought Krispy Kreme donuts. Our manager cooked mussels in beer. It was a great townhall and get together. Afterwards, we played a game - 4 Pics 1 word. One of them celebrated his birthday this June and the other one was graduating from college. We had pizza, chicken wings, and drinks. An Unlikely Breakfast from Ilocos This is my unlikely breakfast for today. After my cup of oatmeal, I'm having some left over viands from last night - dinakdakan and pinakbet - plus two hard boiled eggs. Eggs have been a staple food for me when I'm trying to cut weight. It is easy to prepare and provides protein. Dinakdakan is actually an appetizer but it has become a main dish among Filipinos. It originated from Ilocos. It is usually made of boiled and grilled pig parts such as the face, ears, liver, or intestines. A lime juice dressing is added along with onions and pepper. Pinakbet is another Ilocano recipe made up.of different vegetables, fish, and pork with a base of shrimp or fish paste.
