Sort of a Holiday
Yesterday was Nov. 1 here in Manila. It was a special non-working holiday. November 1 is usually spent honoring the dearly departed. Pre-pandemic, the scenes in cementeries are like big parties and celebrations. Halloween parties pale in comparison.
Well, much has changed. Not everyone goes to cementeries. Others prefer to celebrate more solemnly away from the crowds. Others take advantage of the extra pay and report for work.
I'm part of the last group. Of course, I already said my prayers for my departed love ones. At work, we sort of had a holiday celebration on our own. Ordered from 24 Chicken which has been a favorite of ours. Also, ordered some pizza and cake.
We might be working but that is no reason to not sort of celebrate.

Early Morning Munchies
Good day fellow food trippers.
Was up really early today that I feel sleepy as I type this. Had some leftover Jollibee for breakfast. There was a hotdog sandwich, chicken, and peach mango pie.
Ngl, Jollibee hits different during breakfast. Wish I had some cheeseburger but I ate it all last night.

So here's a proof of life.
Taken during the most recent Dutdutan.
Now, I have been absent in the site because I can't access it at work. Noticed this after the recent system upgrade done by out IT Team. The system upgrade only seemed to affect noise.cash as I can still access other sites.
So that limits my interaction here when I'm not in the office. I'll be here in the morning before I go to work and in the evening when I'm home already. I'll also try to be here on my rest days. Anyway, that's that.

Good day my fellow food trippers.
It has been awhile since I posted. Will tell you about it in a different post but for now let me tell you about this box of sweets that a friend gave me.
She is an aspiring baker and she is doing great so far. She baked these and will start selling these. This is a sampler box of all the pastries that she will bake. The sampler includes napoleones, cheese bars, revel bars, and chocochip cookies.
Everything is delicious and everything is my favorite.

Late Lunch
Second day of my three-day rest day. Finished my errands and it took awhile so I'm having my lunch just now.
Didn't like any food at home so decided to have some burgers delivered. The burgers are buy one take one so I was really satisfied. The brand - Burger Machine - isn't as popular as the other brands like Jollibee, McDonalds, or even Wendy's but it has its own appeal. Support local, I always say.

Rest Day is Laundry Day
Like what the title says, today is my rest day and today is laundry day. I actually am expecti g to do two batches of laundry because I changed my bed sheets. Doing everything all at once seems like a daunting task. Plus, I don't think the washers can handle such a big load like that.
Anyway, I haven't been here lately because I actually thought that everyone has moved on to the Noise app. I couldn't log in noise.cash in my laptop. I couldn't even load the page. Must have been the system and firewall upgrade that I did. Typed out this post in my mobile phone.

How's everyone's Saturday so far?
I'm at work right now but the mood is very light here at the office. Decided to skip lunch and visit a friend who is at the nearby mall. She brought her fur baby, Snow, to enjoy the pet obstacle course in the open air area of the mall.

Our manager treated us to donuts and milk tea. Of course, everyone at the office was happy. She brought the donuts and milk teas because the team did well this past September. It is a small gesture but definitely much appreciated by the team.

Espasol
'Espasol' is a type of rice cake that is made of rice flour cooked in coconut milk. This cylindrically shaped treat originated from Laguna. It is made from rice flour cooked in coconut milk and sweetened coconut strips and, afterwards, dusted with toasted rice flour.
To say, that this is a favorite of mien is an understatement. I ate the whole box in two sittings. I would have finished everything in one sitting if not for the tasks that I need to do. In addition to being a homemade treat, it is also popular vendor food in the Philippines.
In addition to flour, coconut milk, sugar, and grated coconut are also included. Salt, anise seeds, or vanilla essence are sometimes added as well.

Dimsum For Lunch
One of our colleagues started a dimsum business and offered it to us. As a show of support, we ordered from her. Everyoen ordered. Some got the frozen one that is ready to cook. Others got the fried one. Most of us got the steamed one.
The dimsum is larger than usual and there are ten pieces per order. The packaging is nice as well and the sauce is sweet and spicy.

Cookie Monster Part 2
Not a paid post. Although, I hope Mo's give me free cookies or even a discount when I purchase their cookies. Can't get enough of their cookies. Got a box of 6's of their dark chocolate variant. Finished it promptly the next day.

Carinderia Hits
'Carinderia' is a small roadside eatery. You'll find a lot of these establishments in rural areas alomg major thoroughfares.
The menu usually consists of home-cooked meals and a couple of easy to cook meals. I'm glad I found a nearby carinderia. I usually have their grilled meat and fish. Yesterday, I had their grilled chicken. Theirs is way better than what restaurants and fast foods offer. This morning, I had grilled squid and some tofu with pig's ears.

While waiting for my laundry, I did my grocery run already. Just the basics. Eggs, food, drinks, and toiletries.
Everything is more expensive nowadays.

Rest day is laundry day.
First day of my 3-day rest day. Decided to do my laundry today. It amazes me how few clothes I need to laundry when I do not train or workout. I think 80% - 90% of my wardrobe are workout/gym clothes.
Just some thoughts when waiting for one's clothes to dry.

Here is my dinner, beef stew and fried rice. It is usually called 'pares' here in Manila. 'Pares' is the vernacular for pairs. This meal comes in pairs - the beef stew and the rice - hence the name.
It is cheap, dirty, and delicious. Just kidding!

Here is my lunch for today, it is a Taiwanese-style fried chicken from a restaurant called Monga. This is called Chee-Z Signature. Think of pizza but instead of pizza dough, the toppings and sauces sit on a chicken breast as big as your hand. It looks and sounds good but doesn't live up to expectations when it comes to taste.
Oh well. Time to move on to a different dish next time.

Cookie Monster
Of course, I'm talking about the beloved Sesame Street character. Felt like him though yesterday because all I had for lunch and dinner are two pieces of this big cookie from Mo's. Can't recall the exact flavor but I would say it is dark chocolate.
Kinda pricey compared to other cookies but it is delicious and filling.

Rest Days = Alcohol Days
Not the kind that you rub and clean your hands with.
The kind that you drink and indulge with on your rest days for some recreation and good time. Had a hard time picking out my preferred poison. Eventually settled for some soju, beer, and whisky which I got from a different store.

Buffet 101 Post 2
No, I did not go back to Buffet 101. I wish I could but it is too rich for my blood. LOL!
The other day I posted about eating here. I noticed that I wasn't able to include all the photos in the screen shot. So here are four more photos.
First one is the sashimi/sushi/maki platter that I got. I had eaten the other food before taking the photo. My mouth was on fire because of the wasabi.
Second photo is the pizza slices that I got. Not impressed. Didn't taste good.
Third is an assortment of Asian dishes.
Fourth is a Japanese platter. There's katsudon and tempura plus onigiri and okonomiyaki.
Anyway, I do hope to go back to Buffet 101 soon.

Buffet 101
Went to Buffet 101 last Wednesday. It was a spur of the moment decision and a good one at that. Went there when they opened at 5:00pm so I was one of the first customers. I certainly enjoyed the food. The dessert bar was my favorite and wouldn't mind coming back to Buffet 101 again just for the dessert bar.
As you can see from the photo, I took small amounts of everything that I fancied. Was disappointed with the pizza. That was it. The rest of the food was delicious and filling.

Heroes Feast
Today is a holiday here in the Philippines. It is National Heroes Day. While others took this time to rest and relax, I decided to come to work for the extra pay. No such thing as long weekend for me.
Anyway, the office treated those who reported to work to some food trays. There was spaghetti, oriental noodles, fried spring rolls, and dessert.
Truth be told, it felt like a heroes feast!

When I say noods, I mean noodles.
Friday rest day. Laundry day. Plus need to run some errands. Never ending errands.
Loading up with some noodles and Spam. Wish it was ramen but this will do. Not the healthiest meal but definitely a tasty treat for me.

Pizza Delivery
Since no one asked for it, here a pic of me, picking up pizza for our townhall meeting later at 2:00pm. It is 1:45pm so you can say that I'm barely on time. Anyway, the townhall meeting will be held online but we have some people who are here in the office so that means, there's free food for those who are here. I've been bringing cake the past couple of meet-ups as I mentioned in my previous posts so to change things up, I got some pizza.
I got six boxes but for the life of me, I do not know why the delivery guy only brought two boxes. When he realized it, he said that he will go back to the restaurant and get the four other boxes. Oh well.

Currently at work right now and was thinking of what to get for my afternoon snack. It just so happened that a friend of mine who moonlights as a photographer is at the same floor having a shoot. Both of us were surprised to see each other.
Anyway, she didn't have an assistant with her to help with her shoot so I decided to help out since it is a light day at work. Ended up helping here for an hour or so. Wasn't able to buy any snack.
Showed her my office and told here she can come get me if she needs further help. After a couple of hours, I heard a knock in our door and it was my friend. She bought a whole box of donuts for me. Didn't want to accept it first but she insisted. Ended up sharing the donuts with my work mates.

I Scream For Ice Cream
It is raining outside and it is cold here in the office because of the AC and the fact that there are only a handful of us here. Still I scream for ice cream so here is the first of many that I had earlier.
This one is vanilla ice cream with chocolate drops, strawberry syrup, and chocolate syrup. I bought a couple of add-ons for ice cream a couple of days ago. Will write a different post about it later.

Brunch
Missed my morning routine of oatmeal and Yakult. It has been replaced by jogging and weightlifting.
Got hungry so decided to grab brunch. It is actually more of a late breakfast because nothing in this meal says lunch at all. LOL!
It is iced coffee, toast, and a badly mangled egg. LOL!
