Do you like to eat groundnut?

I occasionally eat groundnut. Those are locally called "Badam" (বাদাম). Groundnuts are rich in fats and oil. We don't eat groundnut as a complete meal for lunch or dinner. Groundnut is generally eaten as a snack.

Groundnut is also used as ingredients to prepare sweets, and various food dishes, including fish, prawn, and chicken curry. Groundnut oil is costly which is specially used for preparing mouth buttering snacks.

What is groundnut?

I am sure many of you have eaten groundnuts. Some of you may also call it a peanut. I think there is a slight difference. Anyway, the Encyclopedia Britannica also cited the photograph of groundnuts as peanut. See the contrast of colors inside the nuts!

Now, I hope many of you can recognize what groundnut is.

What a silly thing! I explain what groundnut, i.e., "Kacha Badam," is. I should show you the song and then describe its physical views. Let's move on to the original subject of the article - the "Kacha Badam" song that went viral.

Listen to the "Kacha Badam" song; I mean, watch it first!

The original video of Bhuban Badyakar selling groundnut in the rural village of Birbhum district of Bengal, India, is available all over the Internet. Thanks to the person who recorded the video and shared it on Facebook and YouTube in November 2021. Most probably, the Facebook post appeared before the YouTube one.

The song is very simple with catchy even bits. It is proof of the life struggle a poor groundnut seller faces every day. The simplicity of the tune attracts young or old. The song has also proved that the natural appeal of music rules the world of social media.

I have liked it. You may also like it.

The global citizens liked the "Kacha Badam" song!

I like folk music, especially the originals sung by real villagers. The urban artists often pick up songs from villages and record them in professional studios. Some of the musical productions are very popular.

I like folk music from the practicing country singers who live close to nature.

It seems the larger public naturally adores real folk music. The "Kacha Badam" song going viral is a little proof of how people like original folk music. If the musical piece is created by a person who has firsthand experience of the song's subject, it has a unique appeal.

The "Kacha Badam" song was (and is still) viral globally is a positive sign.

People always like good content, be it music, video, literature, film, or anything. The marketing gimmick may often influence the common mass. The celebrities may also add to sell mimicries sell in the cities. But, the common mass wants content closely knitted to raw and fresh life.

The "Kacha Badam" song has been utilized globally as a marketing tool

Many video content creators used Bhuban Badyakar's song to promote their vlogs. Many bloggers successfully make their remakes and remixes of the "Kacha Badam" song. Most of these vlogs and remix songs are also viral.

Are these activities good for music, art, and culture?

Someone asked on my digital twin's LinkedIn post yesterday, "Are these activities good?" The answer is simple. Anything that associates a creative activity is a contribution to the improvements of life.

Graphics 05: Screenshot from a LinkedIn post of February 14, 2022.

These are the actual creators of life. Even in the days of legends of yesteryears, there were such activities in the arena of music and other art forms. Many great music directors of the golden era copied folk music of poor villagers without giving due credit. Only then, there was no Internet and easy access to recording facilities. That is why the big gramophone companies, national Radio, and TV channels had a monopoly on the commercialization of music.

People's free interaction and activities are essential for the growth of music, art, and culture. Let the Goddess (nature) of music, art, and culture decide what good music, art, and culture are.

  • Finally, the original creator and singer of the "Kacha Badam" song MUST get some royalties for his creation which is being copied and utilized globally.

  • I may try to meet Bhuban Badyakar personally and teach him how he can claim royalties for his future creations.

It's kinda funny since we recently had "peanuts" here. Mom bought lots of them, and my younger bro enjoyed the most of them. 😂 They surely looked the same as ground nuts, I thought they were the same thing! They probably are?

In our country, we call that "Mani". :))

Yes, the name is around the similar nut. Maybe, there is a slight difference. I am not sure. But, the Encyclopedia of Britannica referred to it as "groundnut," and then in the photographs, they write "peanut."

Well, I've eaten groundnuts, not a huge fan, though most of my family is. I do think though that it is good for regular creators to get recognition for their work and to have the platform to share content. And this is definitely a great way also to share bits of our culture with a global community. And like you, I hope Bhuban Badyakar gets the recognition and reward that he deserves.

The ability of artists to perform their art freely, of course, ensures the development of art. They can decide the albums they will make, not the production companies themselves. They can make music however they want.

You said the correct points. Music companies keep most of the earnings from a new album of new talents. Self-publishing and monetization tools should be learned and circulated among the people. I appreciate your valuable time.
